Has anyone tried any products from the Generic Value Products (GVP) line available at Sally's? I saw that GVP offers dupes for Nexxus, Biolage, and Paul Mitchell. Any experience? I'm thinking about getting the GVP version of Humectress/Therappe. Thanks for any input!

I REALLY liked the Generic Value of Humectress. I've never tried the original, but I love the generic so much that I don't think I'd bother.

I use the generic of the Biolage Cond. Balm, and like it (or, well, my hair likes it!). I believe it's thinner than the 'real' stuff -- from what I remember (it's been many years since I've used that, though!).

I've not tried any of the others.

I used to use their "Nexxus" conditioner. It's great! :)

I use the generic K-Pak re constructor. I call it Fake-Pak. :D It's pretty good stuff. A little thinner than the original, but works very nicely. And at a quarter of the price, is much, much easier on my budget.

I love the generic Biolage Conditioning Balm. I haven't tried the real stuff to compare (too expensive!), but I can tell you the generic products are worth trying, even if they're a little different from the real versions.

I really liked the Nexxus Humectress Conditioner knock off. I also just purchased the Nexxus Therappe Shampoo and even though it contains sulfate my hair felt moisturized. I have the Biolage Conditioning Balm dupe and I just haven't tried it yet. Oh yeah, and I'ved tried the Joico K-Pak dupe and it was pretty good too. One product I didn't like was the Sebastian Potion 9 dupe. Made my hair too crunchy.

I've used a couple of their generic products and liked them just fine. The Biolage generics are great.

Thanks everyone :)

Am heading to Sally's tomorrow to give the Nexxus ones a whirl!

Does anyone know what the Cure Care conditioner is a generic of?

I'm not entirely sure their cure care is a generic of anything.

I'm voting another "love it" for the generic Biolage conditioning balm. It gives amazing slip and shine, with no cones. I've never tried the real stuff, but I've smelled the real stuff and the generic has the exact same scent. Also, the generic bottles are great because they give the ingredient list of the real stuff and the generic, so you can compare for yourself. Granted, that's no guarantee the proportions are the same, but it's nifty information.

Thank you for reminding me about this line! I've used several different ones over the years, and have never had a problem...Other than extra cash in hand! :)

I am going to have to go try this, I use the "real" Biolage conditioning balm and it is outrageously expensive! 22$ for a 16.9 oz tub. Sometimes it's on sale for buy 1 get 1 half off.

The best deal I got was buy 1, get 1 for 10$ and than there was a 10$ coupon in the Penneys salon, so I got 2 for less than 14$ with tax, I was pumped!

I am off to Sallys this weekend, I have used their gallons of conditioner, they're nice, I love the almond.
But in the long run, VO5 is cheaper and I like it better.

Thanks for the heads up!

I had to add that as someone who grew up around Sallys (several family members, and now friends, have worked there for as long as I can remember), I'm absolutely in love with their Generic line. Especially the generic of Joico K-pak.

I have and use Matrix Biolage and Sally's generic. Sally's is a great knock off for the price.

I also use Cure Care. Like it even more than the generic Biolage.

I have used the generic Humectress. I really liked it in my hair, but I've never tried the original. I had to stop using it cause it was breaking me out on my back. :(

I really like the GV Paul Mitchell Extra Body Sculpting Foam. This is a great line, if I didn't want to stay off the cones I would be sorely tempted by a lot of the conditioners and other styling products.

I use the Generic Humectress and Generic Paul Mitchell The Conditioner. I love them both. I want to try the Generic Biolage Conditioning Balm too, but I've just purchased a knock-off of that from Walgreens. I also love Cure Care. :-)

Thanks everyone! I also tried the Biolage Conditioning Balm based on its positive replies, and I am so impressed by what a non-cone conditioner can do! It's amazing.

Wasn't as crazy about the Nexxus dupes, but I haven't tried the actual Therappe and Humectress, so it may just be that the formula doesn't work for me.

I've used the real Nexxus stuff both Therappe and Humectress...I love the smell of the poo, but the condish, is really thick, actually too thick for me...I'm going to Sally's today! :joy:

This is great information. I've got a Sally's right around the corner. I'm heading there today to check out the generic line. Thank's!

Wow, kinda wish I didn't read this thread (as if I don't have a lifetime supply of products as it is! :p ).

Not to enable you too much :) but if you are going to shop at Sally's, BUY THE MEMBERSHIP CARD. It's only $5, and you save a little on every non-sale item.

I buy a lot of the generic conditioners, I buy the gallons of shampoo for dh, I am going to TRY the gallon of conditioner for CO-ing, their makeup line and brushes are very good, used to buy hair color there---

Anyway, I don't shop there often, maybe 4 or 5 times per year, but when I go, I spend $30 or so, and save $4 or so using my card--so it's well worth it!!!

Buy the card! Read about it (and apply if you want to; you can also do it in the store) here:

I use the generic Paul Mitchell shampoo. My hair loves it, and it's about the only shampoo that I can use on a regular basis and not have to wash every day.

Ditto. When I tried the generic Humectress by itself, it was just so-so, but then I tried the two of them together and was very impressed. Love it!

Update: After trying to get to Sally's for the last 3 days, I finally made it...I scored the GV Biolage poo and condish for Color Treated hair...I have not tried the "real thing", but I like the smell and how my hair feels...My pocket book likes the feeling of it too! :)

Ps. I asked the gal at Sally's if they carried the K-Pac, she said they didn't! AAAGHG, must depend on the region?
