Hello,
I was wondering is it wrong to do a deep coconut oil treatment
then add the CO method...waiting an hour while both soak into hair.

The steps are:
Coconut on dry hair then cover for an hour.
Rinse really good, then co wash with a light conditioner
then add a little heavier conditioner..let that on for an hour.
Both conditioners are V05.

I guess what I'm try to ask would that be to much at one time?
Thanks for any help.

It's not wrong! Some might find it weighed their hair down and is too much for regular washing. An hour is a very long time to leave conditioner on for, but if it works for you, go for it! It certainly won't do any harm, and we learn what works for our own hair by experimentation. :flower:

I do something quite similar. I overnight oil with coconut or another oil. Then I CO wash in the morning. I don't do your step of rinsing after oiling. I put the CO conitioner directly on my oiled hair. I leave my CO conditioner on for at least an hour after doing a heavy oiling. I think that allows the conditioner to have time to dissolve the oil. I follow that with a second heavy conditioner. My hair eats conditioner and I like it to be super moisturized. It might be too much for some hair but it isn't for mine. You may be the same.

I have been experimenting with something similar, as I've posted on the CWC thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=53421&highlight=thread). I don't leave the conditioner on as long, and I don't try to rinse out the oil before applying the conditioner. So far I am really liking the results.

This is the first time for me trying it this way.
Applying the coconut oil before CO.
I normally would just wet hair then apply the CO and let
on hair covered for about an hour.
Then apply the coconut oil when hair is still damp.

My hair is drying now as I type. So far it seems ok.
I guess I'll know later if I like this method.
Next time I will not wet hair before adding the co.

I think that does have an effect on the final outcome
when rinsing the hair before adding the co?
This is where finding what works for my hair starts.

I never tried the co on dry hair yet..so next washing
I will do it like that..and see how that works.
I made a post about a shampoo that my stylist recommended
but had a lot of not so good stuff in it. So I did not get it.
I do get highlights..once a year. I know it's not good for the hair, but I try to go as long as I can until the next sitting for highlights.

My input would be that the second conditioning probably won’t do much. If you have just oiled, I don’t think the hair would be able to absorb much
The first CO should be sufficient to clean excess oil without stripping and give it slip

Good point, Igor. I guess I'll need to do more experiments after I finish this one to see what happens if I skip the 2nd conditioner application. I should also test to see whether the pre-wash overnight oilings make that much difference.

I need more patience, I want to try everything fast!!:o

So far so good. My hair feels very clean, and very soft.
Tonight when I get home from work and take my messy
bun out I will see once my hair is fully dry.
This is the first time also trying the V05 "rasberry kiss"
I normally use the Vo5 Calming Chamomile Tea Nourishing Conditioner as the CO.
but today I used that as the washing..and the "rasberry kiss"
as the soaking moisturizer.
I need to stop being scared..and venture out with the V05S'
I can say..my scalp does not feel tight anymore.

Thanks, that makes sense. I will try it that way as well.
Next heavy oiling I will only do CO wash.

Just so I understand, when doing the heavy oiling I would only need to CO the excess out...and not do a deep moisturizing
at that time.

Is it better to keep 1hr cover with cap CO moisturizing for times when not oiling?

I'm probably being redundant, and I'm sorry if I am :o.

Hello,
good news to report. Last night when I got home from work
and took hair down O what a feeling.
Soft, light, shiny, felt even kool usually I have a hot head :),
It wasn't frizzy and the humidty was up.
It's so silky, and my fingers run right through...
I combed my hair this morning, and no puffy wuffy.
I'm liking it a lot. I feel safe. I do want to try a ACV.
I'm working my way up to it.
I truly must say my hair feels really good.
I'm going to see how long I can go without CO washing again.
I can usually go about 10 days...water rinses in between.
I'm keeping a journal..and will post it once I go through it again
and clean it up.

Hello,
I tried this method again today, and same outcome. Hair feels really good. I know I said I was going to try the CO without rinsing hair first...but I wanted to see if I'd get the same results as the last time, and I did. Next time I will try the CO on the un rinsed hair. I'm very pleased with the results of this method so far. Now I have to get brave..and move on to trying other ways, and experimenting.
