1 year at LHC - pictures

I was going to wait until November because that's when I started taking more uniform photos in a stripey shirt, but I happened to be wearing the same purple shirt today as a year ago, plus I'd done an SMT so I figured I'd take a photo.

Here is the first photo I showed LHC (taken September 9th 2009). It was of my hair brushed out. I can't remember why I chose this particular photo first - I think it had to do with a post about brushing out waves/curls. The second photo is my hair about a week later (September 16th 2009) in it's natural airdried state.

And here I am a year later (taken September 22, 2010). My texture is exactly the same but my hair is more hydrated and my waves more defined. I'm a little frustrated as I lost 2 inches in a haircut back in March but all in all the growth rate is ok. I'm cheating a little because I used a flash at night so it does look a little shinier.
I'm a little past BSL currently and have about 3 inches to waist which I hope to get to by early next year. I need a trim but I refuse to trim until end of March 2010 as I want to see exactly how much my hair grows in one year (from my last trim). Someone asked about my growth - well it averages at 5/8 of an inch so completely average there. I wash my hair every 2 - 4 days depending on my activity. My routine involves shampoo (Australian Organics or Kevin Murphy or Herbal Essences Drama Clean for clarifying once a month) and conditioner (varies from Australian Organics or Kevin Murphy, Fructis, V05 - currently using up my stash) followed by either Giovanni Direct Leave in, or jojoba oil or coconut oil. I like to try to do either a coconut soak (lite coconut milk in hair for one hour before usual washing) or an SMT at least once a week.

I leave my hair to air dry and it looks like the picture but then I tend to run my hands through it (looking for coarse hairs and running my fingers down them) so it gets a bit fluffy. At this point I use my wooded quill brush to brush through and behave more like a straight haired girl for the next couple of days (waves are gone) with updos and half ups.

Other than that I really do think it's the length that makes it look better.
