Does anyone use dove conditioner? Do you like it and why? I use to use it 5 years ago on my damaged arm pit length hair and it made it so soft and eaiser to manage. I'm not sure if I should try using it again.

I tried it a couple of years ago and thought it was terrible and "watery" - I actually threw it away after only a few uses.
What type of hair do you have? In that price range, the only thing I would recommend the Schwarzkopf gliss oil nutritive range with argan oil

I used to use it, it was great but then I found out about cones, and Dove conditioners has cones in them. And that was the reason I had fairy knots in my hair. So, obviously, I stopped using Dove, or any conditioner for that matter. But Dove made my hair look very good indeed and was very helpful in detangling.

I've used and liked the one for intense repair in the dark blue bottle.
The rest I didn't like quite as much and the Grapefruit and Lemongrass I hate with a PASSION(even though I looooove the fragrance). It made my hair feel like plastic wire. So strange.

Since they repackaged, I'm not sure which Dove Conditioner is equal to the one in the dark blue bottle, so I haven't tried it again since my old bottle ran out.

My hair is naturaly dry and hates anything with protein.

The L'Oreal Elvive Smooth-Silk Intense Anti-Frizz Conditioner (or mask if your hair is very dry) is also great - your hair will not feel try at all and is smooth

I use it once in a while. Generally whenever it is on sale. I like nice and thick conditioners because I don't need to use as much on my hair.

You might as well give it a shot. If your hair doesn't like it, you can just give the bottle a friend, or use it for something other than hair.

I know a lot of people who like the Dove products, but they never worked for me. As far as mass market brands go, I used Pantene for years on waist length or longer hair with no complaints. (^(oo)^)v

I always had 'melting' issues with Dove, but that was the old formula. Everytime I'd go outside my hair felt like a sticky goopy mess. It did no harm to my hair, but was unpleasant.

I grew out my hair from shoulders to mid-thigh using the evil Dove. ;)

You have to get the one in the dark blue bottle though.

I liked the shampoo, I suppose it was the smell and the creamy texture.

Looked yummy too. cough. :p

I hate dove. It never worked for me, even the damage therapy. We are not friends.

Dove in the dark blue bottle is in my conditioner rotation.....I use several different ones, depending on my mood at the time, and Dove is one of my faves.....

I used Dove intense therapy (shampoo and hair mask) for a while, I loved it but they discontinued :(
I've been using the new BodyShop Rainforest moisture on my ends, it works perfectly.

Anyway, if you enjoyed the Dove conditioner, I don't see why you shouldn't keep using it :)

I was using Dove in the last few months before I found LHC -- I thought that it was more gentle for some reason. I did go cone-free about a month ago, so I don't use them anymore. But I also went through the ingredient lists on my old bottles, pulling information up online, and was sort of horrified by what I found. I don't think I'll use them again.... Chemical cocktails, seemed like.

But, to each their own. :)

I used it once at a friend's house, and my hair wasn't fond of it (but my hair doesn't like cones, so that's to be expected, really). Felt tacky to the touch almost; slightly waxy.

I like it a lot. It's my go to poo & condish. The daily moisture is the only thing that works for me though I do like the intense therapy but after a day my hair feels weighed down and greasy. I did frizz control over the summer but I didn't really see a difference.

It made my hair feel waxy but I love the smell and the bottles and the advertising.

Apologies... I read this as it made your damaged arm pit hair easier to manage. :D

Definitely not a quality post.

I used to use Dove as well, but it's been a while since I've used shampoo... so I don't need conditioner either anymore

They were gone for a while here, but now they're back. Except they changed the formula. It's still good to detangle, but I liked the smell of the old one better.

Anyone noticed they changed the ingredient list or do you still have the old one? :?

I used the Daily Moisture shampoo and conditioner for years and they worked well for my hair. (Scalp is a different story, but I haven't found anything that works consistently for that yet.) I've been trying all sorts of experiments since I found LHC, so I haven't used the new formula.

I just remember when I got my hair professionally dyed black the hairdresser told me not to use Dove Conditioner or the color would fade. Which now that I think about it, is either really creepy or was total bull. lol. Weird things I remember... she said to use the color safe stuff and specifically not Dove...

I just saw the adverts for the newly relaunched range today; I hope this doesn't mean it's no good for us any more!

This article has a bit of detail about the changes: http://www.talkingretail.com/products/product-news/advertising-supports-dove-damage-therapy

Here's a blogger reviewing the range: http://www.kimberlycun.com/tag/dove-damage-therapy-system/

I think th one she is reviewing may be the blue bottle version because it has blue writing on the label; they wouldn't want to make it too hard to recognise hopefully and kept the colours the same.

I recently purchased the "New" Dove Intense Repair Conditioner(the one that used to be in the dark blue bottle) and to me it's exactly the same. I still had my old dark blue bottle and compared the ingredients - same. The one I bought was in the bottle, not the tube. The tubes have different ingredients.

So no worries. :)

I do wish I could find all the little side products that were in that review though - the overnight thing and the leave in. Until then I'll just have to use the conditioner as a leave-in like I usually do. ;)

I bought one too, but the formula was changed in here. A LOT. The smell is far more intense and yucky :(
Could you tell me the ingredients in your bottle? I'm going to look for mine to compair the difference in the ingredients.

This is the new one that I bought:
http://www.drugstore.com/qxp182162/dove_therapy/intense_damage_conditioner.htm

Here are the ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Behentrimonium Chloride, Lactic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Dipropylene Glycol, Amodimethicone, Potassium Chloride, Gluconolactone, Adipic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Sulfate, Trehalose, DMDM Hydrantoin, PEG 7 Propylheptyl Ether, PEG 150 Distearate, Cetrimonium Chloride, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Red 33 (CI 17200)

Hope that helps. :flower:

P.S. I don't know about the smell being much different for mine because the older dark blue bottle that I had was pretty old so the scent might have changed in it?

Bugger. I thought you were talking about this one http://polki.pl/work/privateimages/formats/E/33780.jpg
I use the hair mask (short round tub thingie), they discontinued it for a while but now it's back, and I know they changed the formula, it even says "new formula advanced serum". The ingredients are different and the smell is blegh.

Aw, that stinks. :(
I've never even seen the mask in the tub here.
Now they have a couple of treatments in a tube, but I haven't used them.

I wonder if Dove produces more hair care products for outside of the U.S. than inside? There are several products(including masks and leave-ins) that I've never seen here but I've seen in reviews and online...

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I hope you're able to find a good substitute or replacement for the mask in the tub. :flower:

Dove products have different lines here, all with a shampoo, conditioner and hair mask. There's a shine therapy, color therapy, Intense care, thermo defense, hair-fall control. Each line has a different color. It's kind of cute actually :P

I still use the dove hair mask, but only on emergencies, because it's really good at detangling in spite of the smell. Other than that I already found perfect conditioners, so it's all good :)

I live in the UK and we do have masks and stuff, but the overnight thingy (which, being a total product junkie, I would love to try) still eludes me. The extra products don't even seem to be on Dove's UK website, which is weird.

I was interested to hear you say that the intensive repair range is the same as the old dark blue one. Kind of relieved, too, as I love and miss the dark blue like crazy. I've been using the white, but it just doesn't feel as good as the blue to me. It seems thinner and less intense. But maybe it's just a mental thing, haha. And my bottle is quite old and has been sitting in my shower for a long time - that could have something to do with it too
