View Full Version : Cutting short has been a humbling experience. (Image overload)

September 14th, 2010, 03:18 PM
I'll admit it. I once was prideful of my long hair.

After many years of growing it out...

This is one of my favorite photos of my hair to date:

Here it was at it's longest:

And here it was at it's ugliest:

Then while I was pregnant this happened:

I felt devastated that I cut it so short in that photo...but then...a few months after my daughter was born...after being told I look like the "Duggar Mom"...I snapped and this happened....

Lastly and possibly the most beautiful photo I have left of my long hair that was taken a this spring:

So now I feel like an idiot because I'm back at square one. Well actually I'm more like on step -20 because when I first signed up here, this was my hair:

Oh well lol. Here's to growing!

Sorry you miss your hair, but if it's any consolation, you do look cute with it short.
Happy Growing!

Oh I am sorry! But I agree it does look cute short.
I hate when DD tells me I look like a 'Duggar'!

I have had a lot of thinning myself, and I'm trying to hang on to my length.
Here's to another growing journey, and you have nice healthy ends to start out with!

I suppose I'd snap too if someone told me I looked like a Duggar.

Hoping I don't sound too stupid here but what's this "Duggar" thing?

You do look cute with it short! I'll bet it's really easy to care for now! Sorry about missing your hair though!

Sometimes it takes the wrong decision to figure out the right decision. Happy growing!

The Dugger family, they have a reality show. They have like 19 kids or something (I've lost count). VERY long hair on the ladies of the family. The girls wear prairie clothes, the kids are all home schooled.

Nice people, just different way of life from the "conventional" I don't like the dad because when they visited NYC, he was being snarky about the cab drivers.

Anyone who told me such a thing would get the sharp side of my tongue regarding stereotyping.

Kittee, you have a great opportunity for enjoying a new journey. Both with your daughter and your hair. Happy growing to you and Ehvee!

Sorry you miss your hair. Happy growing. It does also look good short.

I send you the best of wishes in re-growing! You look lovely with short hair, and please enjoy it while it lasts!

i can understand your reaction.. i tend to react similarly when in comparable situations. however, i admire that you've already looked at it as a humbling experience. as humans, it is often very eye opening and spiritual to feel humbled, especially by something so personal. your growing journey ahead will probably provide you with lots of trials and equally joyous moments. look forward to your future progress! :)

If someone told me I looked like a Duggar (r anything else in any derisive manner), I would note that they *sounded* like a bigot, and let them know that their opinion would be audited accordingly.
You are lovely, and think about it as having saved some grabbing and pulling by your bitty wee one while she grows. Then as she gets longer, so will your hair and it will be like the two of you are growing together-- how fun is that? :P

I'm so sorry that you are sad over the loss of your hair. I still cringe when I think back to my big cut 3 years ago. The good thing for you though, is that you look great with short hair! I wasn't as fortunate. LOL!!

I loved looking at all of the pictures. My favorite one was the one taken during or right after your pregnancy. You mentioned you had cut it. I thought it looked gorgeous! Your curls were so pretty in it.

Happy growing! And in the mean time, enjoy your short hair while you can! You are so lucky that you look great at all hair lengths! :)

I chopped my hair when my kids were little too, and was so sad, but that's where I was then.

Hair grows. You'll be ok after a bit. :)

Cute baby!

I hope you enjoy your short hair while you have it, and you get to pamper it all the way to long again.

I didn't know what a Dugger was either. Must be a benefit if not having cable: if someone told me that, I would have no reaction.

"It will grow back" - My mom. Yes, it will take time but anything worth having takes time, right?

Your hair was never ugly.

I hear you sister!! Been there and done that.... Your hair cut looks great on you and it will grow back to the length you want it.

Right there with ya! :D Chopped after my third (and last!!) baby. Hopefully, it's the last time my hair will be this short.

My dd4 has short hair too and she wants it long now. So, like you, we are growing together. That makes it not so tough. :)

September 14th, 2010, 09:53 PM
Psh, you don't look like the Duggar mom. You're not constantly pregnant!

September 14th, 2010, 10:00 PM
I've been there, too! Luckily, hair grows and it'll be there before you know it!! :) Hang in there!

September 14th, 2010, 10:05 PM
It looks really cute short! But your hair was also gorgeous. It will grow back.:-)

I think of hair growing the same way I think of knitting. When I knit, I make a lot of mistakes, and I have to rip back rows and rows and rows. But that's OK, because I like knitting! Similarly, it seems like you enjoy growing your hair. And who wouldn't, with those fetching waves and that gorgeous copper color! May you enjoy every milestone as well as the changes that lead you down new paths!

You look very pretty with your short hair, but I understand that you miss your long locks! Best wishes for your re-growing journey :grouphug:

Thank you everyone. :)

I love the idea of growing my hair out with my DD. :) Her poor hair is growing so slowly. Although her bald patch has finally filled in. Here is a more recent picture of her, the other one I shared was months ago. They grow up and change so fast!

We just went to the zoo weekend before last and had a blast. :) She's 8 months old and it's just a joy to experience life through her eyes.

Oh I've never chopped my hair!!! ;) I feel your pain!!! I was an emotional cutter though. Your hair is beautiful and I hope it grows back even healthier. Don't give up!!!
