In case anyone is wondering........
it take three years to get to BSL curly.

Some of you remember when I joined I was half bald on the lower half of my head due to radiation treatment.
It took alot of patience and persistence but I slowly trimmed away the longer layer at the top of my head until my growing in layer finally met up with the old hair.

I think you're doing fabulously well and I've enjoyed every minute of your hair journey. Three years is nothing for curly hairs. My longest layer is a little past hip now and looks barely past BSL curly some days. I'm looking very forward to you reaching waist curly :flowers:

Thank you, everybody, for your words of encouragement! Without LHC and all your wonderful support, I would have easily been discouraged and given up!

It wasn't easy when my hair looked like this:

And this:

A growing in pic:

I am still struggling with several chronic health conditions of which side effects are---hair loss!!! :(

And one of my medications causes--you guessed it---hair loss!

But I will continue to grow anyway. I am posting this thread hoping to encourage other LHCer's who are struggling with fine, thin, or difficult-to-grow hair.

My hair is baby fine, thin, and slow growing. I am a heavy shedder. Since joining LHC, I gained an inch in my ponytail circumferance with my newly growing in hair.
A year later I lost that inch due to a totally new crop of medical conditions. It was extremely discouraging, but I am sticking it out. Once again, I am starting to gain a little thickness in my ponytail, but my ends remain very thin.
I will continue to grow anyway.

You guys are the best!!! :crush: Couldn't have done it without you!

Dio you use product to style your curls?

Hi Babyfine! I do not use product!
I have experimented over the last four years with many different types of cone free curly styling products, and have come to the realization that my hair is too fine for commercial products.
This is a good thing, because it saves me $$$$$.

I have tried many different routines. WO, CO, CWC, poo bars, heavy conditioners, lite conditioners......

What I do now is use an organic extremely gentle shampoo, and I only shampoo the scalp while allowing the shampoo to rinse through my length.
Because my hair is so fine, it really needs shampoo but most shampoos are usually too harsh for my hair. It took a while to find the right one. I only use a TINY bit of shampoo.
Then I comb through a gentle, but heavy, conditioner. I rinse this out, then apply a bit as a leave-in. Then I air dry.
If I find that I have frizz after it dries, I mix a dollop of aloe gel with a drop of castor oil and apply that to dry hair. Then I mist with plain water.
I will always have a certain amount of frizz, but I have made peace with it.

I always sleep on a silk pillowcase; this tend to cut down on frizz and splits.
