Just read a post admiring the hair in 'Braveheart' and others also included Wind-in-his-hair from 'Dances with Wolves', so I thought I'd just make a post open to all movies.

I recently watched 'Memoires of a Geisha' for the 2nd time and forgotten how beautiful Hatsumomo's hair was (even though she was evil). Mameha's hair is lovely, too.

I know it's an animated kids movie, but I just saw the trailer for 'Tinkerbells fairy rescue' and there's an adorable little fairy with an ankle length braid. So cute!

Of course, there's Lord of the Rings. How can there be a thread about movie hair without mentioning Lord of the Rings? I think it's fairly obvious why I brought it up. Now if only my hair waved as nicely as Arwen's and Galadriel's.

Tamina's in the Prince of Persia movie. Also not long, but I loved it anyway - Ramona's hair in Scott Pilgrim vs The World.
On a Harry Potter note, was I the only one annoyed when by the third movie or so Hermione's hair was pretty much ordinary? I was expecting the "I'm a curly but I don't know it and I brush my hair" look.

Yes! It always bothered me that Hermione's hair in the films was always way too neat and styled. I think it is one of her most important character attributes and I was annoyed that they made her hair look "normal." It drives DBF and me up a wall because we areHarry Potter fanatics. lol

Out of all the hair inspirational movie threads I've read here on LHC, I have never seen anyone mention the Merlin miniseries from 1998. I remember I loved Lady Nimue's hair when I first saw her. ^^ Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtxojPcuOtw) is a video (it does contain spoilers, just so you know) where you can see several shots of her long hair. Unfortunately, a Google image search did not yield any good pictures. A lot of the other female characters have beautiful long hair too, but pictures and videos that show their hair are very difficult to find, so if you need another hair inspiration movie, watch it. :)

Yes! Me too! In the first movie it was a little bushy, and from then on it just wasn't Hermione at all.

For me, I think it's animated hair. With acted films with real people, I can tell myself it's styled between every take, smothered in hair spray, airbrushed to within an inch of it's life, and often a wig or extensions. With animated characters, even though their very existence is fictional, I still covet their hair more, whether it's an anime girl with insanely thick hair down to her ankles or Disney's Ariel swimming around and remaining miraculously tangle-free. :o

Great thread! I like Princess Buttercup in The Princess Bride, of course. I was just noticing my hair was finally longer than hers!! Yay.

I will have to start keeping a list! I see a lot in old movies too! They are so fun!

I know its not very exciting hair, but I loved Sandra's Bullocks hair in The Proposal (actually, it was probably the best thing about the movie!)

I loved Sophia Myles hair in Tristan & Isolde.

I also love Jane Seymours hair in Dr. Quinn. (I would LOVE it if she would come on here & give us long hair tips! I would be all ears, LOL)

I also loved Kellie Martins hair in Christy, but I heard that she had a hair piece, but loved her hair anyway.

I loved Julia Ormonde's hair in both "First Knight" and "Legends of the Fall."

From "First Knight" w/ Richard Gere & Sean Connery - I love how thick, wavy, and soft it looks:

I watched "The curse of the golden flower" last week, the story is very sad, but the hair is quite amazing! The updoes are gorjeous, and the hair toys and accesories are incredible...

I have an unexplained urge to make a list of the moovies mentioned in this thread and watch them all over again... :)

Okay, so after I posted about Lady Nimue in Merlin, I just HAD to re-watch it because I haven't seen it in roughly ten years. Yep, lots of gorgeous hair! Lady Nimue, Queen Mab, the Lady of the Lake, Queen Guinevere, Lady Elaine, all have such beautiful hair!

The hair in Devdas was pretty epic.
I used to idolize the hair in other Bollywood movies and then one day, my hair grew longer than than of my favorite actresses. Nowadays, most Bollywood hair is about BSL. So that's the last Bollywood flick I like that still has "aspirational hair."

I still swoon over Brad Pitt's hair in "Interview With A Vampire"
Tom Cruise as Lestat with long blonde locks, who knew that would actually work! And of course a very young Kirsten Dunst with her curly long hair. What a great viscous little doll she made.

Some of the updos Sonia Braga wore in Kiss of the Spider Woman. She had the length to pull it off. Wasn't digging the frizz, but it was the 80's so

This is one of the ones I was going to say. :) I also love Mia Sara's hair in Legend and Anne Hathaway's long white hair in Alice (even though it's obviously a wig). In the '80s, I thought Jami Gertz's hair in The Lost Boys was IT, but I kept changing my mind about how I wanted my own hair so I never tried for it. My hair doesn't have that much wave.

I thought of some more:

Julia Roberts' hair in Flatliners was wild and lush and I loved it.

Natalie Portman's hair was beautiful in V for Vendetta and she looked just as stunning with no hair at all!

I've loved Winona Ryder's hair in pretty much every movie except for Edward Scissorhands. - I know her hair is nearly always short, but I just love it - she looks gorgeous with her hair at any length but always looks better with it darker.

Another short hairstyle that I loved is Audrey Tautou's in Amelie. I've had my hair cut that way but it's every bit as difficult to maintain as she said it was in an interview.

I have a personal obsession with Helena Bonham Carter's hair. It started with Lucy Honeychurch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpP075Ef1L0&feature=related), and up through Charly Bucket's mom and Bellatrix Lestrange, The Red Queen and Sweeny Todd. No THAT'S hair!

I'm watching The Young Victoria, and while her hair down is nice it's not magnificent. However, the updos are gorgeous.
I'm spending more time watching the costumes and hair than the movie XD I did this when I watched Alice In Wonderland, too. But then, I'm watching this for sewing commission research anyway.

I second Isolde's hair in Tristan & Isolde i love the film probably because of her fairytale hair, i actually have trouble concentrating on the film.

I love Kate winslets hair in Titanic i love the bright red and the curls and how she wears her hair up!

I love Madeleine Stowe's hair in a suspense movie called "Blink". She plays a blind women who
regains some of her sight through surgery. I haven't seen this movie in a long time, but if I could
find it I would rent it just to see her hair.
Also, Julia Roberts hair in Pretty Woman, and Mystic Pizza

Blink is such a good movie. I haven't seen it in years but remember I kept watching it when I was a teenager and thought she was sooo pretty. She's an underrated actress for sure. Googling her I see her hair is stunning everywhere. :) Here's a shot of her from Last of the Mohicans

I'm a big hair person for movies. I've been known to watch them just to see the hairstyles.

Not the biggest Julia Roberts fan but I thought her hair was gorgeous, and that she was at her prettiest, in My Best Friend's Wedding. I especially love the updo at the wedding.

I'm a huge horror fan so most of the movies I grew up with hair are from that. It's hard to find a picture, and she doesn't have long hair, but I always thought from the Howling 5 that Mary Staven was so pretty. Especially when she wore it curled on top of her head around the table and at the end of the movie. It's really light and thin hair, very soft and fine, but gorgeous. I just like real feminine hair though, and she's a pretty lady.

http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/CFAngel180/howling5.jpg

I always loved Paulina Porizkova's hair in Her Alibi:

http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/CFAngel180/her_alibi_1989_685x385.jpg

Catherine Zeta Jones has beautiful hair in many of her movies.

Also remember always liking -

Kim Bassinger's hair in My Stepmother is an alien.

Love the hair and updo of the main heroine in Pirates of the Caribbean

Although it's not long, I really love Helen Hunt's hair and updo in What Women want. I wish I could duplicate the simple fold ponytail but, for one I can't figure out quite how to do it, and for another my hair seems much too long. Also really love her wispy bangs in the movie, it's the type of bangs I try to mimic but haven't succeeded at fully.

Tv shows go to -
Alyssa Milano as a teenager in who's the boss, loved the hair, the updos, color, body, sometimes waves, and the different things she did with her bangs

Charlene Tilton in Dallas, and the girl who played the second Kristin (gorgeous hair, and still very pretty)

Holly Marie Combs in Picket Fences - didn't have the longest hair but I loved what she did with the hair, lots of french braids and half-up dos, always admire the simple but well worn styles.

I was just watching Phantom of the Opera the musical movie version and I was surprised to notice all the lovely hair (I guess usually I just notice how sexy the Phantom is...) Christine of course has lovely hair, all those dark glossy spirals. and so does Meg (I love her blond hair tied back with ribbons). I but what I really loved was Madame Giry's hair. It was really long and styled in such lovely styles, one was a dutch lace crown braid with her long braid coming down over her shoulder. I can't wait to be able to wear my hair that way (my mother used to when her hair was long <3) She also had really pretty intricate undoes that were nice and classy and elegant.

So Madame Giry in Phantom is my new hairspiration. just another reason to watch that fabulous movie :)
