Ok, so I've been CO for a few months. It works ok, but I just don't get the super silky clean feel I used to get with S&C. I've now decided to switch back. My old routine when I was really happy with my hair was to S&C with Garnier Fructis fortifying conditioner, with once a week deep EVOO oilings overnight. I'm having weird reactions to it now. No matter how well I think I clean and lather up, and then condition, my scalp is greasy and my length just feels bleh. I've also tried it with Suave Naturals shampoos and conditioners. It just doesn't feel the same. I don't know what is going on. My hair also doesn't seem to absorb oil as much now. I would do extremely heavy EVOO oilings and it would come out easy with one wash and condition. Now, not so much.

For the record, my hair is pretty fine, almost straight. Pretty oily too. I have to wash almost everyday, though I can go two days and not look too bad.

Maybe clarifying would help? Good clarifying shampoo or baking soda? (I am not a specialist when it comes to baking soda, I just use a clarifying shampoo.) Even if you don not use cones, there might be some build up. Don't be afraid of drying your hair. Just after clarifying you may heavily oil your hair or put any conditioner and keep it under a war towel for about an hour. Moisture guaranteed;)

While you are at it, try out ACV rinse too!

Thanks for the replies. Its making me pretty frustrated, especially since I've started school.
I want my hair nice again. How much should you lather to clarify? Because I did clarify, or atleast tried to. I shampooed with a cone free shampoo until my hair was full of lather. Still nothing. My hair just feels blegh. Greasy roots.

Are you making sure to rinse your hair properly? I only CO when I know I will have the time for a good long rinse, to make sure everything is rinsed out and my hair isn't left with remnants of conditioner in it. The same could be happening with your shampoo?

My hair was full of lather too. And it was enough. I didn't have to keep the shampoo/lather on my hair for a long time or anything... Hmm...

All the fructis products changed. Dramatically. in 2010? Not sure I had a large stockpile under the sink.

Well, I don't really know why my hair doesn't like S&C much anymore after being off it for almost 5 months. Maybe its a transition period? I don't know, but I gave up with it. Now I do a hybrid wash. I CO the length of my hair as usual, but don't get any on my scalp. I leave that on for the remainder of my shower. Then I shampoo my scalp and roots only and then rinse, rinse, rinse! It works very well for me. Thanks for all the replies! I think S&C just doesn't work well for me anymore. The shampoo on my length dries it out and the conditioner on my scalp makes my hair greasy. I don't get it. I S&Ced that way for years with no problems, even daily! And I had clean soft hair. Oh well. o.0
