So it's been a year here and I've made an appointment to get my hair cut, which was no small feat. I guess I waited too long and my hairdresser moved and I had to hunt her down. You know when you find one that listens you can't let them go. Here is my progress for the last year. I'm thinking that I want to keep the length but cut about 1" off the ends, including the layers. I want the get rid of them but I'm not ready to cut them all off yet. Have any other recommendations?

Do you really want to cut out the layers completely (eventually)? I feel like they really add something special to your hair.

I agree with GlennaGirl, the layers look great in your hair. Something about 'em. ;)
I wouldn't go as far as to sacrifice length to get rid of them, I'd just trim an inch every couple months to even things out over time. Chops can be traumatic, I know because I've BTDT, matter of fact I just chopped off my last layer last month, went from MBL to shoulder, and it's scary. I know it'll be worth it and I'm much happier with the way growing feels now, but still. I'd go with the smaller trims.

I agree with the above posts, I think the layers work with your hair. If you really want them gone maybe gradually trim...

I like your layers a lot too. And it has to be asked; are you sure you really need a trim? :D Your ends look thick and healthy! If you do, just make sure to be clear how much you want taken off and watch them like a hawk :D

Your hair is beautiful, and the growth really shows!

I second not chopping - your hair is much too pretty to loose that much length, and the layers look very beautiful too... :)
I also second the graduall growing out of the layers (if you deside you want to get rid of them eventually) - trim 1'' off the bottom and only 0.5'' off the layers (or 0.5'' off the bottom and 1/4'' off the layers), so that eventually the layers will catch up with the hemline...
And like Joliebaby said - watch them like a hawk! :)

I agree about the layers. They're beautiful with your hair type, at least take the time to cut them out gradually? :D They're so lovely! :D

I would just cut 5-6cm, just the thin ends, I really like your hair!

Seriously? I've always hated the layers. I guess they don't bug me as much now that it's longer. I'm letting the color grow out too, the highlighting. I haven't cut my hair since last May...when I joined here I told myself I would wait another year. You really don't think it needs much? I guess I look at it too closely. I plan on letting it continue to grow. How long can it be an still have layers look okay?

Okay, here's my new hair! I had her just do a trim, it was about 1" in the length and the layers. I told her to do what she needed to to make it look nice again. And, I had her tone all of the highlights so it all looked like my real hair color. No more two tone hair! Yippee!
