I just got layers in my hair for the first time and I love it. But I want to try something new. I want to go for this cut, or something similar:

Without sounding trying to be offensive, can I, being a white girl, with this type of hair:

pull that cut off?

I don't know if I'll have enough root curl, even if I get super short layers. I'm trying to grow my natural colour out, though, and I'm getting cut-crazy again.

If not that cut, could someone suggest something similar that would work well with my hair?

Thanks.

I'm not sure. I had my hair quite short before and while I'm not as curly as you, my hair just fuzzed at slightly longer than that length. It was awful! It was too short to even hold a proper wave.

The curls are gorgeous! Halle Berry is so beautiful! Can't blame you for admiring her style! What doesn't work for me with this look is the part. It seems to divide her hair/head into two halves.

Yeah, I'm looking for something similar to that, maybe. I like to change my part a lot from side to side. And I honestly don't think I have enough curl at the crown for this. :(

the root curl is my concern too -talk to your stulist - take these pictures you've posted, and ask for an honest opinion if you woul dbe able to get enough lift at the root to pull it off? you might need...dare I say it - a perm....

Hell yes! That hairdo is beautiful! <3
I'm not sure her messy look is that natural, just keep in mind that your hair may not look the same if you decide to go ahead and cut it.
You have beautiful curls, I'm sure you can pull off a short hairstyle :)
My hair is super straight, but my mom has curls, when she took care of them they'd look something like this http://www.aaa-fashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2010-short-curly-hairstyles-1.jpg
Have you ever had short hair like that before or is it something new?

I've had my hair short before, but I was younger and didn't really know how to take care of it. The second time I had shortish hair I flat ironed it all the time. So I don't really know what my hair will look like short and curly. But this was it black, straight, and short:

I was thinking of doing something like this, but where it's like a bob in the back, so something like a longer version of this:

with the fronts sort of like this:

basically, just a curly version of the old cut I used to have.

Ooh I think it looks like you might have enough curl to pull that off! It would definitely take styling everyday to define the curls better though and probably some product use, as long as you're not opposed to it... Probably wouldn't be a "wash and wear" look.

I think they all look wonderful, but I may be a little biased, because I'm a sucker for curls :crush:

I don't think you'll have enough curl up at the root for your hair to be that big with that type of cut. I also don't think that those pictures you posted is 100% natural, there was probably some heat styling or a lot of product involved.

A sharply angled stacked bob might be better for you, worn curly to still give you the look of big poofy hair but long enough in the front to be tame if you want it to. Good luck!

I think Halle's got a perm. You'd have to style it like that. But you could rag curl it every night and it wouldn't be too damaging. I think you're brave to go that short. I bet it will look adorable. I love your curls!

Sure you can pull it off! Genetic background has less to do with being able to pull of a cut/style than face shape, body type and how much time you're willing to put into maintaining your look. Rag curling or roller setting would be excellent ways to get the curl you're looking for, if your natural pattern isn't what you're looking for. I would reccomend having a sit-down with your hairdresser and really going over how you want it to fall and what you would like to be able to do with it. The more you describe it (and bring those pictures!) the easier it will be for your hairdresser to give you that style you look for.

In those pictures, halley looks like she may have a perm and or a roller set. You may want to ask your hairdresser to show you how to set your hair without heat or chemicals, etc. if you're avoiding those. A good hairdresser will be happy to help you achieve your vision. If your hairdresser doesn't seem to be interested, it's time to find a new hairdresser. I haven't sat down with you and analyzed your facial/body structure, so I cannot tell you whether that shape would be a good fit, but, as a hairdresser, I can tell you that when a guest is willing to work with me, they and I can usually find a style they're happy with.

Good luck and happy styling!

I pretty much have the same cut right now. It has been fun for four months, I have gotten a lot of compliments, and isn't a bad one to go for as you will be able to pull it back after a few months of growing it out.

That said, I have had enough of it now and once you lose the length, it takes a long time to get it back. There are easier ways of growing out colour than going for the big chop, unless you want the cut for its own sake.

I think you could for sure! Just keep in mind that to have it that full and curly quite a bit of styling may be involved :)

I think you'll need a curling iron to pull it off. In my experience, roller sets, rag curls, etc produce a different kind of curl.

Maybe you could cut one strand at first to check whether your root hair will curl so much when it's shorter and lighter or not...? There is hope as your hair is curly.

You don't have as much curl, or the same curl pattern, as in the pics. Be prepared for the cut to look different on you! Why not look for examples that match your curl pattern? Much more chance you'll be happy with the cut in that case. You'd have to do much less styling too.

Much more chance you'll be happy with the cut in that case. You'd have to do much less styling too.I don't know what kind of examples match my curl pattern. My curls kinda do whatever, it seems like they change daily. Some are spirals, some are frizzy poofy curls, some just do whatever.

I want to get my hair cut sometime before or after my cousins wedding, and I want something to my shoulders or above, and curly. I'm still looking, but sorta running out of options. I don't want to get stuck with a triangle of hair with no shape, that's my main concern.

I've had super long hair, I've had super short- I just want something in the middle. Length isn't a problem for me. If I go too short, oh well. That just means I'll grow back more hair, my own color, and healthier.

A close friend of mine has this style, and she is white as well. I think you could pull it off :) It may not look exactly like the pictures, though - wavy, shoulder length hair is a cute look, and easy to dress up or down!

Its very pretty but looks like alot of maintanance. I agree with one of the above posters that whis is not a wash and go look. Also Im not sure what your hair routine is but I imagine you wouldnt be able to oil/CO etc/go as long between washes with this look. Plus Halle has someone to do it for her and in that pic it looks like shes just come out of a salon.

I can see it took alot of product and root drying to get that effect.

Good luck, maybe itll work out fine but Id research more before cutting as this looks like a very high maintanance 'do.

That style is super cute. Your hair could pull off a cut like this, though I don't think it would be as curly as Halle's.
I have thick wavy hair and short layered styles look good.
