I'd love to see tailbone

... and maybe a pitstop at waist if you're up to it. ;)

Would someone be willing to do mine? I'd like to be waist.

I tried a slightly different technique this time to try and preserve those stunning braid waves - done my best..

I have Paint shop pro 7. It is rather "old" by now, but still works rather fine.

It was directed at you indeed, also don't knock Paint Shop Pro (I used to use it when it was version 4!), it's a nice piece of software.

I think that your picture of yourself extended to your knees really does look like it's all one length with none of the tell-tale smudging over the joins which I get!

For sure Little Orca that is my goal too, I just met a lady with hair past her knee's and it looks so cool she told me she had it dragging on the ground at one point and I told her she should do it again. I guess I just love really long hair keep growing.

Is Paintshop pro X the last version before it gets "paint shop pro photo X2" and such?

I think the new programs from Corel is not what I want. I want like the usual jasc Paintshop pro, but as good as possible. And I want a combined photo and graphic program.

I made a selection of a piece of hair I wanted to use, then copied and pasted as new layer several times.
Then erased every layer by the overlapping, so the borders do not show.

Then erased slightly and with small tool point (soft, small and half opacity), to get the outer border nice (or more nice at least).

Hannah83's pic has better outline. Don't know if it is the black clothes that make a better outline (same background all around hair), or the graphic program.

I think so. The eleven was all photo I think I got it but did not like it. The X is like the others before it, but with some difference of course. But it is a full program like the rest before it.

On Corel now, there are one "Paint shop pro photo x2" and one "CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4".
And I want something that is good for booth photo and graphic, like Paint shop pro 7,8,9.

Very hard to understand which of the programs one should choose...

Booth seems very big, they cost each more than ever.

Mostly I like the eraser, for removing unwanted bits and blending the layers' edges. I use it hard-edged for removing, and fuzzy for softening.

The cloning tool is useful as well, for breaking up repetitive patterns. :)

Pretty much. For the pics I've done so far I made about 3 duplicate layers of hair (just selecting the hair I wanted) on top of the original pic, then moved them down with the lowest hair-layer the one on top, if you know what I mean. :D Then I started erasing.

Well, this the best I can manage. It makes it look as though your hair is going to be more curly than it is when it grows out, but you don't have much 'length' to duplicate.

This is completely unrealistic because a.) I suck awful at photoshop, b.) My hair is not this wavy at any length past APL and c.) I'm letting my dark brown grow out instead of continuing to dye it black, but here we are:
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/8278/lengthshop.jpg

And with lengths added, though I've overestimated my tailbone a few inches:

I'd be interested to see how easy it is to lengthen braids as well as loose - anybody like to provide a photo for this? Ideally I'd think hair which braids in an even pattern against a plain top or dress so there isn't too much background to fight..

Straight hair really isn't the most co-operative to work with, especialy when it's as nicely sleek as yours x) but I gave it a try.
it doesn't look real but hopefully will be somewhat or somethign liek you wanted x)

I Really REALLY am hogging this tread o_O

I'm sorry that came out quite dark, and contrasted. no idea why though.

I have found that 'photoshopping to the ideal length' is best done on pictures that do not have a busy background, that are done wearing the same coloured and unpatterned clothing.
When the picture has good lighting around the hair. (it's easier to select the individual colours that way) and when the photo is a basic 'straight on' angle.

it's hard for someone using GIMP because thier photoshop tries to crash everytime they open it x) I can't even find a brush similar to the liquify tool in there.

The gimp tool similar to Liquify is called IWarp, like I said already. It's in the filters section, under distortions (I don't have access to Gimp now and my version was in Finnish language so this word might be something different). It's not as sophisticated as Liquify for sure but does a decent job in many editing tasks like making straight hair longer (it's not as good for wavy or curly hair as it pulls the waves/curls straigter).

I find Gimp is okay program, especially for free, opensourse one! Are you sure you have the latest stable version? If not I recommend you install that instead of latest beta version. And if your problems with gimp started when you downloaded a new version, go back to the one that worked before.

My hair is much longer than this now (it's waist length now), but hopefully these are good to try to ps. My goal length is right around hips/a little above hips.

smilinjenn71, GIMP is really intuitive. You can learn the basics (e.g. layering, changing colors, the filters) with the GIMP tutorials, but the main part is practising, trying out and playing around. Just take a random picture, use some filters and have fun ^^

I use "PhotoFiltre" (you can download free, I think)

but I believe it's the same way with other software too ... You simply work with some sort of "stamp" tool, choosing the opacity and radius ... then you stamp away to copy the existing hair elsewhere. (really I'm not a master of the art either... sorta simply playing around with it)

I suspect that the clone stamp tool is used, but every time i try it,it copies a apart of the picture that i dont want it to.

It sounds like you have not chosen which part of the image you want to clone stamp... to do so:
-select the clone stamp tool
-set the brush size you want
-while holding down the control key (I think it is the control key, anyway, the mouse image will change when you have it held down), select the part of the image you wish to clone (in this case, your hair). Then take your finger off of the control key and use the mouse to clone yourself some lovely long hair.

The area you selected to clone from will always stay the same relative to where your mouse cursor is... so if you chose a spot that is 1" above your mouse cursor, you will always be cloning from 1" above wherever your mouse is. This means you may have to re-select a spot to clone from, depending on what you are doing. Hope that helps, and let me know if my explanation doesn't make sense, it is a bit hard to describe this stuff in text (particularly as I don't have Photoshop on this computer).

I hope I've got it to the length you wanted... I kind of got lost counting stripes u_u'

As for instructions, I just select most of the length, copy it in a new layer and stretch it, and then do some touchups on the ends. This only works depending on hair texture and the length you have to stretch it (for instance, curly hair would look kind of weird this way, generally).

Can someone do mine, please? I'd like to be at tailbone, with the same V-shaped hemline. I think tailbone would be in-between those two green stripes (which are ribbons attached to the skirt, by the way. I've just realised the flash makes them look like I've stuck masking tape to myself for measuring purposes, which isn't the case)!

Eventually I will get rid of the V hemline, but when I hit tailbone it's still going to be there, so I want to see what it will be like!

ETA: if anyone wants to do a "straight across" hemline pic for me as well, it would be cool to see it both ways!
