View Full Version : Hair type me Please, and, can I call this classic?

I hope I did the pre-picture routine properly. I washed my hair, it was a CO wash, I used Suave Wild Strawberrry conditioner for the 'wash' and Slik Soak It To Me Moisturizing Conditioner on the length. I kept it towel-turbanned for about 20 minutes, didn't comb, only put a dime-sized amount of Lush Retread on the very very tips cuz I had to go to the store like this and it was windy and I didn't want a snarl in my ends! Apologies for the frizz halo on my head... what happens when I don't put my coconut oil in..

Anyway, I wanted to ask the hair experts here, can you please tell me what hair type you think I am? I have looked at the hair type list but I thought some opinions would help me out.

Also can I call this classic? I realize my baggy Tripp shorts may not have been the best thing to wear as you may not be able to tell where butt & thighs join but I forgot to change for my 'modelling session' :D

My hair was technically dry for the pictures, some parts still felt dampish but I think that could have been sweat (gross, sorry, but it is hot & humid here) :)

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

I'm not great on the hair typing, but I think you can call that classic. :disco:

Thanks, Beatnik Guy! (don't take this the wrong way but I love your nanner :D)

ArienEllariel, yeah that's what I couldn't decide on either, between those two.

It's definitely classic length and pretty. I'd type your hair at least 2B; it looks wavier than 2A to me, far wavier than 1C.

I don't think your hair is 1c because it is much too wavy. I would say 2a/2b, maybe a little more on the 2b side. :) Your waves and your length are beautiful. And yes, I'd definitely call that classic.

I'd definitely call that classic.
I'm not sure about the hair-typing, though. I wonder if keeping it turbanned for twenty minutes would have had too much of an effect? But as it stands now, I think I'd say 2a/2b.

I think you're about 2b, definitely not 1c. And I think you might be a bit past classic.

For sure classic or past. And I'm not an expert typer, but yeah it's somewhere in the 2a/2b range. They are really nice, even waves!

I am definitely thinking 2b and you are a classic+. Really beautiful hair.

Wow ~ alot of you are saying 2B? Wow! Really surprising since most of my family, like my 3 aunts, have stick straight hair. My mom's is wavy too though. 2B ~ I like it!

Thank you for the help everyone, and for the lovely compliments!:)

You've definitely reached classic! And it looks like you're a 2b to me - you're in the wavier range for sure.

(P.S. I love your hair!! I wish mine looked like yours! The colour and texture are so pretty.)

You are actually a little past classic length, so yay! :cheese:

You definitely have a very strong wave/curl pattern, it is certainly much curlier than a 1c. You are between 2a to 2b, more leaning towards 2b.

I'm really jealous of your length and thick, healthy ends.

You've just motivated me to extend my goal length to classic. Stunning!
I want to call you a 2a/2b. Take it from me, I've had TBL hair and mine looked almost exactly like that (before henna "relaxed" and all that).

I'd say 2b as well, and you're "I passed classic and didn't notice"-length :D
Your waves are gorgeous and I really love your colour.

2B or not 2B...also I would not be surprised if you have iii thickness!

i would say between 2b and 2c because it kinda loks like you have some spirals at the end of your hair, and you hair looks a little past classic to me

Don't forget your dad!

My dad's hair is at least a 1c (can't say more than that for sure, as he's never had it past touching his collar), is solidly medium in texture and very thick. He probably would have been a solid iii before he turned 55.

My sister gets her hair from him. It looks very straight when it's long, but it's got a lot of bounce and volume and movement. Dunno for sure if she's a 1c... like dad she prefers her hair short. Unlike him, she doesn't get a natural flip as her hair hits collar length.

And since men don't tend to do much to their hair beyond cut it, they're going to be a pretty good clue.

I've actually never met my dad.

But from the couple of pictures I've seen of him his hair is/was pretty straight too...

I'm happy with my waves! Not so wavy that they eat up alot of length, either..

A couple of you said maybe bordering on 2C! Wow ~ I guess there are a couple areas that may be spirally, huh? Someone mentioned that keeping it turbanned for 20 minutes might have been too long, I can't remember for hair typing how long is the max you're supposed to turban it? Maybe I will try it again sometime leaving it turbanned less time and see if it makes a difference.

Again, thank you so much for all the lovely replies everyone! :)
