They are a hemline that come to a natural taper, much different than the blunt hemline you can achieve through trimming.

I believe its a term to describe the ends of your hair if they haven't been trimmed and have don't have a really neat hemline. Some people like the straight trimmed ends some people prefer fairytale ones. Dunno if that's a great description someone can probably do a better job, but hope that helps.

What those guys said :) Think the hair a fairy or an elven princess would have. Think Galadriel or Arwen from the LotR movies, their hair (wigs) has a natural U or V shape and is thinner on the ends.

Hair that isn't trimmed to keep it flat or blunt at the ends naturally takes on this shape over time.
