Past tailbone almost classic should I continue. This is long as I've ever had it. I love the idea of growing to knee.
If you never have then I say " it wouldn't hurt to try!" Give it a go :)

Been a while since I checked in here. Hi everyone!
The stretch between hip and TBL has been my most grueling milestone so far, largely because I seem to have a long torso, making it a good 6" inches between the two. BCL and TBL are less than an inch apart!
My most recent progress pic:
http://i.imgur.com/3WDD2Az.jpg
The other reason for the seemingly long journey between these two milestones is that I'm getting a lot of tapering, which fuels my desire to trim. I can't decide if I want to take an inch to 1.5" off at the end of this month.
For funsies I tried a crown braid just to see how far away I am:
http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q439/samanthaa1/Braids/crownbraid_zpsy21cj228.jpg
Not too shabby, but the taper is awful. My tassel needs a good 3-4" chopped off for decent thickness.

Looking good, taper or no. Glad you showed your crown braid progress. Since my hair is about the same length as yours, I know how far we have to go now.
Did you pancake your braid?

Looks great Samanthaa! I like your ends as well, I don't see any point in trimming unless they're actually damaged. Personal choice of course, and a thicker hemline is pretty as well. I can't decide what to do with my own hair either, to let it taper or try to keep a full hemline. I'm not trimming for a year, so I'll see by then what I want I guess :)

Thank you! There's some pancaking going on there, but not too much. My hair doesn't pancake well because of how silky it is, and I don't really use any products to help with grip.

Congrats, PixieP! I feels like only recently that you chopped back to waist!

Thanks, lucid. You're right, they're not actually damaged, just thin, so that is something to keep in mind. It's not really taper, I guess, because I have layer(s) (you can kinda see it from about BSL to waist) that, when it catches up to my hem, will make my hair em thicker. I was supposed to be microtrimming this year to slowly rectify the layers and the hem, but I skipped my last couple microtrims...oops...

Never be sorry for asking questions! :) Pancaking is when you fluff out the braid, when it's done, and you pull on it to make it look bigger.

Welcome back, gthlvrmx, and welcome, Aunt Rapunzel. You have beautiful hair!
Yay for cracking another milestone, PixieP! And Larki, is does look a tad shy of TBL to me, but only you can call that one! :)

The stretch between hip and TBL has been my most grueling milestone so far, largely because I seem to have a long torso, making it a good 6" inches between the two. BCL and TBL are less than an inch apart! :scissors:
I had mine at almost 6.5" between the two, but re-measured to find it's only 5.5", with 2.5" of that being between BCL and TBL. It really has been a big gap, but with my new measurement I should be at TBL around August, which is also about the time I'd be looking at trimming. Bah. Your hair is looking so long and swishy-good, with bonus points for the crown braid!

Its been awhile since Ive been to LHC and checked in here, but I think Im finally at tailbone now... I think its time to try some new buns again and see if I can do some new stuff. i definitely have a bit more damage on my right side from too many gibraltar and lwb. Lately Ive been doing milkmaid braids, double buns and caterpillar "braids" to mix stuff up.
Its cool to come on here and see how people's hair has gotten so much longer...

I'm half an inch from bcl now, super exited. BCL is the longest my hair has ever been, so I can't wait till I pass that milestone :D
Here is a recent pic, failed toilet paper-curls, but it gave me some waves and my hair appeared much thicker than what it does straight. So it wasn't a total disaster even though I originally was going for curls :p

ThanksTatsuOni, Fern, and & lucid :) It's nice to be back and nice to see you again too, Fern :)
Lucid i totally see what you're saying. I called it because when i look straight ahead and put a finger on the spot where my tailbone is i feel my ends there. That picture really isnt the best either because I was trying to snap a shot with my webcam using the 3 second timer and I was accidentally looking down. I tried to get one from straight on but it kept getting glare or my hair was moving and not straight. I've also begun to be able to sit on it (ugh) depending on how im sitting. I guess there's still the possibility I could be confused about exactly which bone is the tailbone and what I feel could be another vertebra sticking out but IDK? Its like that little bump right above/at the beginning of your....crack. No elegant way to refer to that, lol.
lucid
June 11th, 2017, 06:10 PM
That bump you feel over the crack (lol) is the lowest vertebra. The tailbone point inwards after that, so it is difficult to feel the last part of the tailbone without sticking your fingers between your ... ehm... cheeks... On me, TBL is about mid but. In reality, it's about 2.5 inches that differs, so not much. :)
You can see it really well in this schematic (http://slideplayer.com/slide/9980701/32/images/63/Coccyx+Lowest+part+of+the+vertebral+column.jpg), tailbone length is approximately at the middle of the but. :)
Thank you for the compliment as well :D

I believe so, or for practicality, where the hard stuff stops and the padding takes over. The idea of finding it... Well, that's where the alternative label of TMI comes into it.
Good to see you back, Cat! As always, I'm loving your hair! And yours too, lucid! Mine's also at the longest ever, and I'm really enjoying the play of it now. That said, I also know I want it a fair bit longer so it pools into my lap and has more end value (does that make sense?). Probably somewhere where it wraps around my hands? It's definitely a feel thing moreso than visual length, even though I'm after visual balance. :rolling:

I seem to have a menopausal-related hormone hair stall/super slow growth. I've been at waist since last November, its grown possibly 1/2" since then. At this rate its going to take me like 12 years to get to tailbone! All I want is a braid to my jeans waist!! Someday perhaps.
Meanwhile I am worried about how thin is my hair going to get?! Without new growth replacing the sheds it can't possibly stay the little bit of thickness it is. I usually get 1/2" per month not per 6-8 momths!! :(

So much gorgeous hair! And Lucid, I can't get over how much thicker yours looks, even with the extra length!
It's been a while since I've posted a picture here myself. In fact, I'm so overdue that even with the longest growth stall that I've ever had (I swear, it didn't budge for a good nine months, but apparently it flew after that to make up for lost time), it's actually time for me to be moving out of this thread! I had been wondering about that a month or so ago, but it took so long to get a picture that there's definitely no question now, even with my refusal to call a milestone until a substantial portion of my hair reaches it. Just a few runners don't count for me!
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=27729&d=1498091702
My left hand is around my tailbone, my right is where I felt the bottom ends of hair. It looks like the runners are actually approaching classic when stretched (which is somewhere around the bottom edge of the picture), though the bulk is still a fair distance away. It's also pretty obvious that I can no longer claim blonde hair, either, which is a bit sad. But at least the summer highlights still form as well as ever, and stand out all the better!

Hi everyone I had my 4th child on thanksgiving my baby girl, my hair has been shedding a lot. I been growing out my hair. I colored only once in past two years which is a huge change for me I hardly use heat and wash twice a week. What else can I do to get better hair? I'm I at waist?

Hi! Can I join here growing with you? :) I'm new here, so nice to meet you all :flower: I've been lurking around for awhile and now I finally joined. I'm currently at waist. I was at hip in March, but I cut it back to BSL/MBL for a thicker hemline. I'm growing out "layers" from my old bangs and a terrible shed I had because of medication. Maybe someday I'll be back where I was before with a nice hemline  Happy growing to you all!

So much gorgeous hair! And Lucid, I can't get over how much thicker yours looks, even with the extra length!
Thank you! It's just the way my hair lies though, my overall thickness is the same. But I do think my ends look a bit fuller, so maybe some of the layers have been catching a bit up with the rest. Or it could just have been a good hair day. :)
And your hair looks wonderful, congrats on reaching this milestone. :D
Magalo: Beautiful hair, looks like TBL already? How did you get that texture (your profile says 1a), looks really good and natural!
Princessmom77: Gorgeous and it looks to be in great condition as well. If your hair feels nice I would just stick to the routine you have. I don't think there is much you can do to stop the postpartum shedding(?), but remember to eat and drink enough :) It's a bit difficult to tell from the picture, but it looks like solid waist maybe closing in on hips?

It took me a while to find this thread  I have waist to hip deep v-cut, I think I will stop at hip for a while to get rid of layers. Welcome to the thread! I love braids so most days I just wear some sort of braid or braided bun. My hair is usually only down once a week at the most. I like to keep it out of my face and protect it :agree: I'm not sure if that's weird or excessive I just really love braids :hmm:

I've got to be closing in on it. DD20 is home from college, and took June's siggy pic for me. (She's sweet. She finger combs, and primps my ends! :) )
I maintained for 10 months to thicken up the ends, and it worked! It took a LONG time, but I'd bet I have more than doubled the thickness at the ends. The first time I only trimmed a few dozen hairs. (I couldn't bear to remove enough length to get the thickness where I wanted it. It took so long to grow from that pixie!) It still isn't quite as nice as I'd like it, so I'll probably maintain again. Maybe when I call "Tailbone!".

Mine is down to dry, and also for about an hour every night before bed if I'm reading or otherwise not fanning around. Always else, bunned.

I wear mine down sometimes, because it's what I want. I grew it out so I could mess with it: wear it different every day or whatever. Wearing it down is worth the damage for me. I wouldn't enjoy wearing my hair bunned up all the time. But, that's just me. You do what makes you happiesy.

90% of the time I wear either a cinnabun or a French braid transitioning to a cinnabun. LWB's just don't hold as well for me, and a Nautilus bun is still a little out of reach. I don't wear it down in public, but that's just a personal preference. For working out, French braid.

It's been a while since I last checked in, so I'm playing catch-up with all the beautiful hair photos!
Lucid, you hair is so beautiful! I am envious of that straightness. Mine is neither straight nor wavy!
SparrowWings, whatever your length, whatever your color, your hair is just beautiful!Wow, Magalo, congrats on nearly hitting what you say is your ultimate goal! I have always wanted TBL with a blunt hemline as well.
browneyedsusan, it's very encouraging to hear that maintaining worked for you! I was supposed to be maintaining this year with microtrims but I was bad and started skipping trims because I liked the length I was gaining. From your signature picture is does appear that you are closing in!
Here's my update:
http://i.imgur.com/2K1kpop.jpg
I just trimmed about 2.5", maybe slightly less, for what is becoming my "annual trim." My hair was just about at BCL when wet/stretched! But it was only a few hairs so I wasn't sad to see them go.
As I've mentioned before, BCL and TBL are very close together on me, so I think I should be able to make it to BCL by year's end, and TBL shortly after. Although that doesn't include the microtrimming that I keep telling myself I'm going to do...
ETA: Oh, I also wanted to throw in a picture of my progress growing out my henna! Yesterday was exactly once year since my last root touch-up:

Thank you so much samanthaa :) Your hair is really pretty, and I adore your natural color.
I'm one year into growing out my natural color as well. I have highlights/balayage, but no real demarcation line since my natural color is pretty close to what I have now. I have started seeing more breakage/white dots and spit ends in the bleached parts of my hair lately, and I'm getting worried that the condition of my hair will progressively deteriorate until all the bleach is grown out... :( I'm only seeing split ends and white dots in the bottom of the bleached parts, so fingers crossed that the hair will last, and that I don't have to sacrifice any length.
I'm planning on growing to tailbone, and then maintain until the bleach is out. But I'm also thinking of buying good scissors and S&D as well.

when I finish this current haul I can start a new whole organic, bio haul from Balea recommended by hartraum in her video. oops! my ... I am such a poor baby when it comes to hair care on a budget. I canīt believe Iīll spend like 10 euro for my new haul: shampoo without sodium lauryl sulfate, conditioner, hair mask and leave-in. I think Iīll buy also the hair oil... maybe on special ocasions or so...
then Iīll mictrotrim my uneven growth.

Crystawni if I've managed to crack you up, then yay! Success!
Could we term this length "can I call it TBL" and count it as passing the marker? Or maybe wait for another inch and then consult with the crowd again?
As far as external markers, everyone has a slightly different arrangement of gluteus muscles that may deceive the eye.
Between BCL and CL is a short enough distance on me that I'm okay with it all being a bit vague. (Though I should try seeing if my hair hits the chair-seat, I hadn't thought to use that measure.)

TBL is about halfway between hip and classic in terms of time for me. It was a year ago that I reached hip, and it will be a year or so until I reach classic (milestones include triannual trims). And it's about halfbuttlength, so it's really squeezed in there... :wannabe: I'm still a bit away from hair hitting chair, but I blame mah butt and its extra padding that's lifting me higher. :o The actual tailbone hasn't shifted, though, so next Monday is boner day for meeeee!
Yup. Yup. That sounds wrong. Can I evah get my mind out of the gutter?
Nope.

huh! I forgot about the micro trim this month. it was too humid outside and my hair was fuzzing too much to have control on it. I could do it now because I have greasy hair that falls almost straigth (it will be deep conditioned and washed tomorrow) and an idea crossed to my mind that could help protecting my hair from eventual breakage while braiding: a beebutt bun! wow! the first time I did a beebutt bun in 2 years and my beebutt looks really big hihi. I am happy I could take 20 hairs since the comb damage.

Crystawni, your hair has just gotten more and more thudworthy as it gets longer. :) TBL is exciting!
Another picture of my butt, because this thread has got me thinking and I haven't taken a hair picture in jeans in a long time.

Beautiful hair everyone!! Zesty, I do think you have a good couple of inches before tailbone, but people do call it at different points. I have a question for you all. When my hair was a bit longer (say BCL or so, maybe approaching TBL) I used to do scalp washes keeping my length dry, but now that I'm back at hip I find that it gets about half of my hair wet if I do a scalp wash and it doesn't seem worth it. I'm going back and forth on whether or not to go back to scalp washing. So I was wondering if anyone else at these "shorter" lengths do scalp washes. Thanks guys!!
Crystawni
August 10th, 2017, 05:39 PM
Naw, thanks, Zesty! TBL really is exciting--it's beginning to look long and kinda feel long, but not? Will it ever feel long?
We're having a heatwave here. In winter. I've been washing my hair daily just to enjoy a fresher scalp and the wet blanket of hair cooling me down. :p
enting
August 11th, 2017, 07:17 AM
animetor7 I find that it's still worth it to do scalp washes if your length prefers less frequent washing. Mine still manages to get damp all the way down, but it's not soaking, sopping wet the same way as it would be with a full wash. Half your length getting wet is still leaving half of it dry, after all!
Crystawni I started feeling like my hair was long when it started hitting my lower back. I'm actually worried that if I grow much longer my hair will lay on my shoulders and butt and skip lower back entirely and then maybe I won't feel like it's long anymore. :(
And goodness, a heat wave in winter? Go home, weather, you're drunk.
lucid
August 11th, 2017, 08:17 AM
Send some of that heatwave over here. I miss real summer. :p
My hair still doesn't feel long. I wonder when will...or if it ever will? It's virtually weightless and without volume, so it doesn't take up much space. :p I don't know if that's playing a part or not, maybe I'm just having the "not long enough" syndrome. :D
animetor7
August 11th, 2017, 09:27 AM
My hair feels short right now because it's about 4-6 inches shorter than I'm used to due to a chop that was supposed to be a trim. But I think it strangely feels longer sometimes in a braid than left down. So maybe experiment with different styles to see if that makes your hair feel longer Crystawni and lucid. Length pictures can also help to convince oneself that your hair is as long as it actually is. :)
Thank you for the responses about scalp washes. I'll try my old method sometime this week and see if it still works. If I'm not happy with it I can always just wait it out, my hair will eventually reach it's old length again. That's the nice thing about hair, it grows back! :)

animetor7, my hair always feels longer in a braid too! I thought I was the only one
Crystawni
August 11th, 2017, 06:07 PM
I get back-whipped with a braid--it feels like a rope thunking along! So yeah, I feel my hair then! Containment of some kind helps with heft for me--either braids, a ponytail, twirling it for a bun, etc. But on its own it's too wispy, fine and flyaway to make its presence known unless it's doing spider crawly antics on my arm or elsewhere. And yeah, my length shots floor me! I mean, what? How? Huh? That's mine? All that? But, but, but...
I reckon we had 2 days of winter this year when I put something warm on my feet for a maximum of 5 minutes before I was boiled again. It's been strappy tops, fans and airconditioning all the way, though. *waves hands in a fanning, frantic go-away-heat dance that makes me look like a demented butterfly*
I know. Go home, Crystawni, you're as drunk as the weather. (I wish!!! Tis another beautiful day in paradise, and a drink or two may be on the cards later.)

Hi everyone ! I just hit hip length and am now growing toward tailbone. I'm quite excited since I'm just starting to discover lengths that I've never experienced before. (It hovered around waist, perhaps between midback and hip length, for a very long time).
I think I have a good 3 inches to grow until BCL, and then maybe 1.5 inch to tailbone ?
Anyway, good growing (or maintaining, or whatever you're doing right now) to all of you :)

(I am also fairly blessed with "padding.") I'm about 5'6.5" and generally round up to 5'7"! It's kinda sad leaving this thread, really. It's like a second home! I first posted in here when I reached waist on February 20, 2015--that's two and a half years ago. It didn't help progress that I mucked around with my hemline and layers so much in the middle of '15, but I've since gained more by just trimming a centimetre or so three times a year to freshen and thicken things up now that my ends are needing length-buddies.
Happy growing to longness, guys! :smooch:

Oh sorry, I haven't been online in a few days, working my second job. Thanks for the replies Lapushka and enting! To answer questions: Nothing has changed about my diet. I take no medications at all. I have not been ill. I do not believe the ends are getting broken, because they LOOK fine. No splits or dots or other obvious damage like that. I use senna (cassia) every 2-3 weeks because it drastically reduces sheds for me and I think it makes my hair stronger as well. I usually braid and then bun my hair for both my jobs so it is contained 90% of the time.
However, this line of questioning has made me realize that I did start my second job at the end of November last year! I wonder if that has anything to do with it? It's by no means a stressful job (I started out washing dishes in a restaurant for 6 months, then moved into the kitchen to learn cooking) but, it DOES mean that I never have a day off to simply rest. In fact my last day in which I did not work either job was February 28th. I get lots of sleep, mostly 8 hours a night. So it's not a lack of sleep, but perhaps the lack of anything like relaxation in my life could account for some of it? At any rate, I appreciate knowing that other members have had stalls of longer duration than mine, thus far. It definitely gives me hope!!

Stub maybe you could squeeze in a nice scalp massage one of these days. It could give you a little taste of relaxation while stimulating your scalp at the same time. Lack of downtime can definitely have an effect on the body. Do you get any vacation days at all?

Well, my 1st job is actually my own business (pet sitter) so not really. I do about every 2-3 years take a couple weeks off and go away on vacation. My second job is only part time so there is no vacation accrued, but I CAN request days off. I am actually taking 5 days off both jobs in October just to get a break. But mostly, I simply cannot afford to take days off!
A scalp massage sounds nice. I should try that sometime. :)

Wow, congrats! :D How far away is BCL on you from hip?

I've posted it elsewhere already, so why not here? I'm seriously considering growing my hair to TBL, but no longer. I keep it down most of the time I'm out because I feel prettier this way. My hair is rather not damaged, yet my growth has stalled a little. I hope I'll get to TBL reasonably soon (I'm close to BCL when not wavy - my hair is naturally straight rather than wavy, here are just bun waves).

I haven't been active in this thread for a while, but I'm still at BCL. A little closer to TBL now. My hair hit a grow spurt so it's 1 cm longer now than I'd counted on :) It happened at exactly the same time last year... I might be because I once again was unable to avoid the sun? I really feel like making a growth chart now to see if I can discover a pattern during the coming years :) But then I can't be lazy with measuring my hair anymore :P

I'm considering doing a growth chart too, try and get a feel for how much length I gain on average per month (then see if my goal for next year is possible using that!)

Umm, I just go by how often I need to touch up my roots! lol!
Judging from your siggy, it looks like you have a fantastic growth rate! So nice and shiny, too. :)
------------
Trimmed a little -- 1/4" or so -- , a few days ago. The ends were looking bent up, even after washing and oiling.
Went away for the Labor Day weekend, and the hotel water faded the last of the Vampire Red from my ends. I'll probably dye my underlayer as we get closer to winter. I like how it looks bunned up with a bright color in it.
ETA:
Define TBL, please. I think I'm closing in on it, but it's a little nebulous. (Tempted to take 30 minutes and scroll back to the memes. Those were priceless!)

I've got some really nice bun waves after wearing a figure 8 bun all day. I think I'm still going to wait to call hip until October; it seems like only some thin ends are there but the bulk will soon follow (my thumb is on my hipbone)!

Hello, new to this forum. I hit waist this week, but I suspect that come October my ends will look thicker and it will look a bit more solid!
I decided to call it anyway though because I am so tired of waiting for the taper to go!
I need to trim still and will probably be microtrimming for the next year or two, but I look forward to eventually hitting tailbone! Even HBL will be difficult.
But with my growth pattern I see myself hitting it in about 2 years.

I'm really hoping to make BCL by christmas - One can hope! Then I'll be back at my longest ever and onto uncharted territory :D
I'm really hoping I don't have too much taper by then - want to do a micro trim to even the ends up in December then try no trimming 2018. I'm still surprised I've managed no trimming for the majority of this year, it's definitely paid off though. My ends were terrible last time I reached BCL (See first pic in my siggy, when I first joined LHC) so I've definitely been overcompensating - have a satin pillowcase, sleep cap, hair towel and a ton of products.. LHC hasn't been very good for my bank account :P
Also, I did do that growth chart.... apart from LHC, nobody is to know about it! :P It's only been a month but I like having that visual that I am making good progress.
Grats on waist rebeccalauren! Taper is the worst bit it'll be worth it when you get to your goal length and have healthy ends.
Also grats Reyn, HeartofHaleth (I ALWAYS put spaces between those words and have to go back and take them away) and browneyedsusan :D

Cross posting my progress from the seasonal growth thread.
My has been acting weird the last 3 weeks. I have tried clarifying - no help. I have tried deep conditioning, which made it even softer. The problem is velcro-like tangles, like the hair sticks to itself. So I can't run my fingers through my hair smoothly. It doesn't feel sticky though. It's all of my hair, not only the lengths. I think my scalp has been getting a tiny bit more "waxy" than oily lately (still oily, but more towards waxy than what I normally get), so I guess that could be a reason?
Maybe the clarifying shampoo isn't good enough?

Lovely hair, Lucid. Have you tried oiling? I find that when my hair gets extra tangly and velcro-y, it's time to use some coconut oil. Not loads, just a bit in my hands smoothed through my hair.

Beautiful, Lucid! Your hair is so shiny and smooth. :)
Have you ever tried a chelating shampoo? I'm not entirely sure if it would fix your issue, but I find that clarifying shampoos are just like regular shampoo for me and don't do squat in terms of deep cleansing.
If I recall correctly, you do use cones don't you? Cuz my hair impossible to detangle when I don't use any. How bout a leave-in? Lately I've incorporated a light and moisturizing leave-in into my routine and that's really helped me a lot!

Lithostoic, thanks :) my hair doesn't like oil that much, but I may try some lighter oils. It's a while since I've done that.
Aredhel, thank you! Usually, clarifying gets rid of this feeling, but not now. We don't have hard water, so I don't really know if there is anything to chelate? But at this point its worth a try. I have started showering 2 times a week at uni, and the building is old, so there may be some minerals in the water even though the water is soft?
I use lighter cones with almost every wash, the ones that doesn't build up. Sometimes heavier cones at the ends. But I never use conditioner or cones near the scalp, and the tangeling starts just 2" from my scalp. It's so weird...
Maybe I need to switch up the shampoo? I've seen people sometimes having to do that.
What kind of leave in do you use?

I don't know how old your school's plumbing system if but if they have older piping, there could be rust from iron/steel lingering in the water. Reason I'm guessing this could be the case is because my workplace has older plumbing too and I get a bit sick whenever I drink any unfiltered water.
I started using Andalou Naturals Argan Oil+ leave-in (http://andalou.com/argan-oil-shea-moisture-rich-leave-in-conditioner), it was recommended to me by AspenSong and so far I'm really liking it. I use the Nightblooming Panacea salve too but I'm pretty sure I remember you using one of their salves already.

I actually think so, I think it started a couple of weeks after. The building is from 1961, so I'm guessing old pipes could be the reason. Thanks for the input on that both of you. A chelating shampoo should help for this right? In that case I could shower at uni mon, wedn (and use a more coney conditioner and/or leave in conditioner those days), and chelate and deep condition at home Friday. (I work out 3 times a week, high intensity, and have lectures after my workout Monday and Wednesday, so I have to shower and wash my hair).
I kind of like how my hair looks now, a bit more messy and a little bit more volume. But I'm afraid that it's damaging to my hair...
I'll give that product a try, the ingredients looked like something my hair could like at least. And I also have the other Panacea salve, which I like, so I should probably start using that a bit more regularly :p
Your hair is gorgeous lucid! This might sound counter-inuitive but have you actually tried to switch to a heavier cone-y conditioner? Especially now that winter is coming.
Thank you so much :) My hair is super prone to build up, and my 1a hair looks veeeery flat, stringy and weighed down with heavy cones, so that's why I've stayed away from them. But I'm usually braiding my hair anyway, so it really doesn't matter that much. So I'm going to give heavier cones a try again. I have a huuuge bottle of Joico Moisture Recovery Conditioner for Dry Hair, that I sometimes use in the bottom of my hair, so I could give that one a try as last conditioner in CWC.
And as long as I chelate/clarifies my hair regularly, that should take care of the build up before it gets unmanageable.
Can I deep condition hair that have coney conditioner in it, or do I have to strip the hair first? Noob question :p

I would give that a go and see if you see a change. At least then you can eliminate that and move on to the next theory if it doesn't help :)
Saying that, most of my life has been spent washing my hair in buildings with pipes that old, and 100/200 years older, so maybe it's not that. Though maybe my hair's used to it. I have actually never been able to run my fingers through my hair without them catching, but maybe that's my slightly wavy texture.
One last thought: are the workouts a new thing?
