I need to chime in here. What is BCL? I don't see it on the stickied list of official LHC abbreviations. Below Classic Length? Sounds good to me!
Todd, BCL stands for butt crack length. :)

Yeah, I MIGHT make it to BCL without any trims by Christmas this year, but I'm not all too hopeful. . .
If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? It's so funny to see the correlation between height and WL on people. :) So BCL would be around 38 on you. . . ?
That was very sweet of you to say, and I think that your hair is absolutely stunning. <3
Yes, plus you can always claim it stretched if you wanted to, i see you have some gorgeous wave in there, it all counts. :)
BCL is 38 or 39 on me i am not sure now, i am leaning towards 39 though. I am just under 5'10 or 177cms and hating it right now.
Thank you for your kind words about my hair. :flowers:

It's butt crack length. Or bum cleavage length if you want to be more polite.

LOL Thanks for some reason I couldn't come up with that one by myself! A nice length to aspire too though...

I love my waves, but I hate my waves. So hard to keep them consistent. . . So hard to feel like I have long hair with all the shrinkage going on. :/ It makes claiming milestones all the more rewarding, though! :)
Ah. Well. I'm 5'3.5. . . But I have short legs. It just seems odd that you're around half a foot taller than I am but BCL is closer to your waist than it is to mine... From a short person's perspective, I would love to be tall. Be proud of your height, seriously.
You deserve the kind words about your hair <3

Newest pic! If I'm stretching the ends just to even find them ( they're thin and light color) it is just brushing the tippy top of BCL. I did find a shorter spot on my left side, now playing "Where did the damage come from??"

Looking beautiful Lindseyh. I love your waves and the caramel colour.
I can't notice any damage in your hair at all, but sometimes when I part my hair to one side, at the back one side looks shorter. Could that be what you saw?

It's just a small section that seems to be shorter than the rest that isn't mirrored on the other side. I just assumed it had broken off at some point

My hair always shrinks more on one side than the other. I can cut it as carefully and evenly as humanly possible, and it will look about 2 inches shorter on my right. The curse of the wurly is upon us, that's all.

The lighting was terrible so it looks like my hair is a black hole that's never been touched by light - but I think this photo shows the length well!

I understand the relationhip you have with your waves. :) They're so beautiful though, they make the shrinkage worthwile.
I have long legs and a regular torso for my height, definitely not a long torso so that could explain things. If i wanted to grow to knee it would take forever but it's a length that doesn't appeal to me (thankfully! Hope i won't change my mind ). It's interesting how unique we all are!:D

Looks like you are just brushing hip now.
I read upthread where Mariakatija said it had been 8 months since reaching hip and BCL was still quite a way off. It has been 10 months since I reached hip, and BCL is still 2-3 inches away. I guess I have an ample pelvis structure.
The first week of March is over. Only three more weeks until I can peek at my length and do a trim if I want to. Definitely need to S&D today after I finish washing and deep conditioning my hair.
It's all about loving the journey. Superlength hair will come with time. I just have to be patient.

Ain't it the truth Laura? :agree: Patience is indeed the key ingredient to growing long hair. May we all enjoy our hair at any length, this is what matters the most i think!
What i do when i become overly fixated on my hair is i try to shift my focus onto something else, for example a hobby or lately my wardrobe and clothes that i have neglected for too long (because i am not that much of girly girl). Trimming scheduled dates are always very exciting for me because i absolutely adore the feel of fresh ends so once i trim i forget about it for a while until i am due again (June/July is my next one).
I too am 2 inches away from BCL unstretched. You'll get there by summer/fall i think even with trims in between. I am taking 0,5-1 inch off every time and i am still confident i could make it to tailbone (stretched) by December-January.
Happy growing everyone, Spring is just around the corner, hopefully some of us will have growth spurts! :flower:

It has been ages since I took a length shot, and Wildcat Diva's lovely picture inspired me to actually attempt to fix my waves! Here is a picture I snapped a few minutes ago - forgive the poor lighting, it is rainy and overcast with very little natural light coming through the window. Had to use the flash.
http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af57/squiggyg/IMG_0185_zpsfan2msgc.png
My thumb is on my iliac crest, so I suppose I can call this hip? While wavy! I challenged myself to wear my hair up for all of February and I have been very diligent about NOT checking the length - last I had check I was only at hip when I had brushed out all the waves! The bottom of my shirt is somewhere near tailbone, so I still have a ways to go if I decided to grow that far.
Speaking of, I know this isn't a real hair typing picture, since I had actually tried to enhance the waves, but what would you call this? I think I have lost some wave as it has gotten longer. Just curious what you all think.

I had a little growth stall but then all of a sudden I am getting growth again! Last shower I noticed my hair was covering my lower back tattoo!! That means I am about BCL!! Is that about where tailbone length is? Tomorrow is a wash day so once my hair is all dry I will get a length pic. I am so excited to be seeing progress!! Yay!!

On each person it is somewhat different. For me, tailbone is about 10-12 centimeters longer than BCL. It is where the end of the last vertebra, the tailbone, stops, and is usually fairly deep between the backside cleavage. It is between BCL and (for lack of a nicer word) nether-eye.

Yup, the tailbone is the very very last bony ridge down in the butt cleavage. It might only be a difference of 1-2 inches, or 4-5, depending on how high your butt is on your back. Tailbone length proper is never above BCL, but some people have more trouble finding the nub than others.

If it makes things easier, you could just call tailbone the halfway point between the top of the butt cleavage and classic. It's not far off for most people, and it also splits things up so you don't have one short and one very long growth period between milestones.

Tailbone is longer than BCL? I get so easily confused since this is uncharted territory for me. Yes. Following from waist downward, it is hip, butt-crack, tailbone, nether-eye (sorry, there's that word again), and classic (bottom of butt, where it meets the thigh).

Oh, Ladies and gents, my ends are so grabby and velcro-like! Mostly the last inch or so; I have some splits which I have been attacking with regular S&D this month, and quite a lot of bent ends, which is strange. This weekend I used my husbands SLS-laden shampoo (I am SLS-free) to see if that would help with any buildup, but they are still grabby! The air has been dry lately and my hair is soaking up oil, so today I'm going to do an SMT in case the ends just need moisture. Last resort, I'll go for a trim.
I was thinking of clarifying before the SMT, but don't have a true clarifying shampoo, just one with SLS. Has anyone ever tried adding baking soda to shampoo for extra clarifying power? I am a bit nervous to try that, since I am afraid it will dry my hair out even more. Maybe I could just let the regular shampoo stay on the ends longer than I usually do? What do you think?

I have tried baking soda. It clarifies well but leaves my hair badly tangled. Following up with a diluted vinegar or citric acid rinse helps with the tangles. But... honestly, the best clarifying experience I've had is with plain white vinegar. I'm still toying with the citric acid ratios so I can't speak to it's effectiveness.

Thanks! I usually do an apple cider vinegar rinse, which leaves my hair really shiny and slippery, but it sure didn't add any slip last time! Maybe I just need to purchase a clarifying shampoo to keep for the next, oh, several years.

I'm almost to TBL. I think I'll get there by May. I'll trim and keep it there until next winter, then I'll be off to classic! My original goal was tailbone, but now that I'm getting closer, I want to see how it would be even longer. :)

Congrats Lady Katherine! :) It must feel great, i can't wait to reach tailbone myself.
Squiggy, what's your water like? My ends felt strange sometime ago, nothing seemed to work on them except when i used a chelating shampoo. I am not saying the culprit is the water hardness but something to consider. Baking soda, i have never tried it and would not, my hair is coarse and on the drier side it would rough it up too much but others have had good experience with it so why not.

I think our water is actually pretty soft, so mineral build up might not be the culprit... Still, I washed with regular SLS shampoo and did an SMT - hair is still wet, but hopefully after it dries all will be well again.

Yesterday, i noticed mine is an inch away from BCL unstretched! Well, my hemline is uneven and hair is layered at the front so technically only my longest bits are but that counts, right? ;)
I will probably be there by May and wait until July to trim an inch off.

Yay, FallingDarkness!
Today two of my daughters begged to braid my hair, so I let them. They were amazed as I sat on my bed while they combed because of its length. "Mom, I want your hair!"
I love having long, beautiful hair. I am really eager for TBL to classic length. At that length, it will clearly be out of the realm of "muggle" territory. I want to be the owner of ridiculously long hair. I think I'm looking at about 3 years or less to make it to classic. About a year and a half to TBL, and about 6 months or so to BCL. Major milestones are just around the corner!

Congratulations on your thick, amazingly gorgeous hair! Thank you. I never thought of my hair as thick. I always thought it was thin. Then I did the hair-typing and saw that it's average. Still, some people call it thick and others call it thin. I don't care what they call it except for stringy and dull. I have also been told that my hairstyle makes me look outdated and like an Amish or Mormon Fundamentalist or "Little House on the Prairie." I like Laura Ingalls Wilder, so that's no insult. I love long hair, and a classic, timeless look. If that's outdated, so be it. I always thought I was born a hundred years too late.

Do I want to take all my growth every month, or do I want to just S&D and trim off racers so I can gain length quicker? Wanting TBL to classic range so badly!

No problem. ;) I would lie if I said I wouldn't creep and comment on every picture of yours, too.
Actually, I don't do anything at all. I did use a toner on it once when it was freshly bleached but ever since I stopped using a coney leave-in with a yellow added colour, the brassiness was gone.
Also, my hair is a little more yellow-ish than in the picture as the flash washed it out quite a bit.

Goosh, I suspect it has to do with your natural hair color too, since Its already blonde probably it will lack some of the yellow/red/orange pigments that most hair colors have before the actual bleach. Hopefully I'll have the same results as my roots are growing longer and longer (couse I don't know if you have seen that, that but I've seen many women that grow their bleached parts out and it's basically a orange color at some point)

I bleached out a blondette dye to what I have now. :) It turned silver at one point because I over-toned it with elumen.
I've seen that sometimes but I'm not sure what causes it. I can just say that they do turn a little more yellow in the summer but cool down again in the winter. Purple shampoo initially didn't help me at all but it might be helpful against brassiness. :) I think the best thing I did against the yellow pigments was to clarify in January! Before that, my hair looked terrible. You can take a look at the first picture in my albums if you want to. :)

I used a clarifying shampoo by wella and did a normal SMT afterwards. :) I don't trust myself with baking soda and ACV so I went for the conventional method instead.

I also think I am going to finally and officially call tailbone (stretched), though I will try to get a proper photo illustrating this soon too.
I am back where I was in December (briefly flirted with TBL, then trimmed a little), but with slightly more even ends, which are now red :p

Reporting a trim. My ends got the the point where I could no longer detangle so my sister very sweetly cleaned my hemline up. She took an inch off. This time is the longest I have gone without a trim: eight months. Apparently it has been so long that the blended layers she put in last time were gone as is most of my face frame. This cut only took her 10 minutes which is about half the usual amount of time.
So before and after pics: http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah39/knm37504/20150316_170908_zps8nl0ig6s.jpg (http://s1376.photobucket.com/user/knm37504/media/20150316_170908_zps8nl0ig6s.jpg.html)

To answer the question, I've been trimming a little bit every 3 months for more than 2 years now, but lately I've started trimming every 2 months cuz it seems like hair needs trimming more often. After my trim in December I was almost at 36 inches and after my next trim I was almost at 37 inches. So I guess I gain 1 inch for two months, which means that I should've reached TBL by July.

Well well. This is my update. I finally flat ironed my hair after 10 months of not using any heat tools. This time it was a must because I'm graduating and you know... the pictures, those other stuff and blablablas.
I trimmed my hair in February and now I'm about to reach HL in maybe 2 months, and I think I can reach TBL for this Christmas, or at least its what I really want to happen!! Lets hope I can keep up the 3/4 inch per month growth. My hair is loving no poo and cocoa butter + coconut oil.

Hello! Length update! I would like to know your opinions. I think i have reached hip for me. Do you think so? Or do i have a little bit left?.. So i straightened my hair for the first time this year and decided to take a picture! A length picture of all things. Something i rarely ever do.
So here are my thoughts about my hair. Pretty awesome condition, very little splits. I have not trimmed the hemline in a few month. I am due for a micro this may. I feel like i am just now starting to see some thinning in my hemline. But probably just due to hairs catching up.
Also, my neon bangs have just reached shoulder length. Pretty soon they will start to peek out on my length shot. Right now they do not yet lay on my back so they dont yet show on length shots.
I also feel like i have not posted anything for quite some time, so what better way to start posting a bit than with a length update! (Altho lets be honest, i will probably go about lurking once i have exhausted all my posting abilities ) :)
Perhaps i shall join in some challenges somewhere to keep me motivated to post something.

Okay girlies I'm getting some extra spending money, and I've been looking at adorabella's silk goodies. So, which do you think would be the most useful, longest lasting and most versatile: sleep bonnet, sleep scarf or a silk pillowcase? Also how do you use a sleep scarf to cover long hair? Maybe tie it up in there somehow? I'd be a bit worried about it falling off, but also I could wear it as a headband during the day. Hmmm. Advice? They're all equally expensive, so I can only get one thing - that's why I want the best item :)

I bought a sleeping cap from them and love it so much and the tension on the elastic is adjustable using the ribbon - that is so useful if you want it tighter one night and looser the next. So you know what I am recommending!

:3 it sounds like the sleep bonnets are popular! I wish I could get all of them *-* I like that you can adjust it. I was thinking about a scarf because I could put it over my chair at work, but I don't think it'd stay on well at night.

I think this is highly individual; some people prefer silk pillowcases more because it has benefits to the skin as well as hair.
Personally, I can't stand silk pillowcases because my head slides off it all night, and that leaves my neck at such an uncomfortable angle that I can't sleep (and it probably does some physical damage to my spine). So cap it is, for me. I wear an adjustable eye mask over it and that helps it to stay on.

I third the sleep bonnet. I love mine. I have a silk pillowcase too, but unless your hair is much better behaved than mine, it doesn't all stay on it. So the ends always end up down on the flannel sheets. Thus, the cap.

Everyone's hair is looking fantastic! I'm getting very close to BCL now. Yesterday I measured and I'm at 90cm after my trim. I'm still losing hair unfortunately. I've had blood tests done and everything came back normal, so I don't know what's going on. The doctor seemed to think maybe my hair is too long and is pulling too much (which in my opinion is rubbish). All I can think of is too much stress :( Whatever the cause is, I hope my hair starts growing back in soon.

That doesn't sound like doctorly advice at all. ugh. i'm sorry. sometime i wish there was an answer for these things, but i'm glad its nothing diagnosable. Hang in there. My guess is your thickness came mostly from some dormant hairs that just expired? If thats all, they'll be back soon!

I feel like my hair has grown because I can do the nautilus fairly comfortably now, which I couldn't last summer because I ran out of hair before the first twist and had nothing to wrap around, and now I do, but when I look at pictures of it down, it doesn't look longer to me. and then i try to measure it, i twist around so much trying to find the ends of the tape measure and the ends of my hair and if my head is angled slightly up or down but not enough for me to notice that it is, then i lose or gain a few centimetres. i might be getting close to BCL but I can't tell (they're not long enough to get stuck anywhere yet, but they might be just level with that area)

I think your hands may be a little too low for hip? Hip for hair is usually measured at the tops of the hip bones on the sides, not the widest part or where they stick out in the front. Your hands look more like bcl than hip. You might only be a couple of inches from hip, maybe close enough to hit it this year depending on your growth rate!

Aww, thankyou, PennyQuin! You're not that far off yourself though! And wow, that's a huge compliment. Your hair shines so much that it's visible even against the robe... impressive, and congratulations on your degree! ^_^ You do not have a big nose in the slightest. It's a very delicate but chiseled nose, I think.
Nice texture, Brattina! And the colour is gorgeous too. Hmm... hip length is actually at the top of your hips, and it looks like you have two to four inches to go? You look close, anyway.

I think your hands are too low in this pic to indicate hip. Hip length is the top of the iliac crest. On my body, it is not very far at all from waist. I reached can-I-call-waist on January 1st 2014, and by February 2014, I definitely waist. I reached hip length in May, just three months later. Hip was my last official marker ten months ago, and I have probably until the end of this year before I make BCL.

Tie a piece of rope or yarn around your middle, just a little snug but not uncomfortable. Walk around the house for a few minutes. It should settle on your natural waist, whether you can see it or not.

I think I have a good chance of making it to BCL by the end of the year. I hope I will. I reached hip in May 2014, and feel like I haven't grown at all since then, but everyone tells me I have, so I guess it grew! Ha ha! Sometimes right after a trim, I have a bit of a growth boost. I hope that happens this time around.

I like tidy buns as well, tiny squirrel! Messy ones just don't seem to work for me..? And I'm learning to enjoy my fairytale ends when the hair is down because it actually looks kind of cool. The only thing that bothers me is that the taper starts around BSL and I want to grow a lot longer. I'm concerned that my terminal length might be shorter than my goal. But at least I've made it this far: this is the longest my hair has ever been! :)

I'm starting to kind of like taper on myself, even though i love wispy ends on others. Its so pretty, but i feel like where'd my hair go?!? I like not having the weight, so the taper is really nice and allows me to grow this long. If i had my full thickness all the way down i dont think i could handle it.

My taper starts at bsl too. a good fourth of my hair vanishes there. I've learned on here that its the front/face hairs that have a much shorter terminal than the rest/back do. Very interesting. My goal is at least fingertip, so i'd be fine if it terminates there. Any longer and i'd be worried i may never find it

I was reading in one of the fairy tale threads that several people noticed the taper beginning at BSL. So, be of good cheer, you may yet make it to ftl someday! I see that your hair is fine; you may have to baby it more to get it the length you want. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Your hair is absolutley thud-worthy Wildcat Diva. The colour, the texture, the length. Perfect!
Stunning colour and style Johannah. I really love your hair, it has this ehtreal beauty to it. (and your waist is tiny, my goodness!)
Thankyou Squiggy!
My ends from MBL down are quite thin and damaged and I'm not sure what the cause is. It's quite possibly old heat/dye/brush/wearing loose all the time damage from my pre-LHC habits since my big chop at the start was only to around shoulder/APL. If that's the case then maintaining will sort it out fast enough. However, I'm slightly afraid that my hair just isn't able to be an average thickness after a certain length and that maintaining will only hold me back growth wise.
I'm going to try maintaining and hope for the best. I'm currently a little past waist (my original goal) and I'm thinking about using my spring and summer time rapid hair growth to get to hip (my current goal) and then maintaining there for a while. It's taken 2 years to get from BSL to waist so I think I'd have to maintain for at least 6 months to see significant results. I do eventually want to grow out to full terminal so if I can get any more thickness in the ends then that'll help.

The fact that this is the next thread I join once I graduate makes me so happy, because all of your hair looks so gorgeous and long, and waist is where hair really starts to look long to me..
Johannah, your curls look like the healthiest curls I've ever seen. Amazing definition!

I always love popping into this thread--there's such pretty hair here! (Especially those awesome curls, Johannah, sourgrl, & Wildcat Diva.)
I finally got DH to take a decent length shot for me (I've got a trim scheduled this coming Tuesday to take care of my velcro-y ends, wanted a length shot before that)...turned out it had gotten longer than I thought! (Not quite to hip, I think? Definitely a couple inches past waist, though!)

Here's a little better angle, but my ends are flipping up and it was breezy, so it's not the best length shot ever.

little early update for april 15th, but I'm curious...an I there yet?!?! I can blind-point to my TB now from checking, but I cant see if I'm a half inch away like my measurements are [so varied], or if I'm still too far to call. Its definitely there wet, but fluffy its hard to see. I'm about to go for classic and just skip this one.

Hi! I have just been lurking around on the longer-haired threads and am now so inspired to continue on my hair growing journey.
But a real concern I have at this length-hip+ is the increased tangling and consequent increased hair fall out when detangling. I am 3b with iii (4.5 inch) thickness so this just adds to my dilemma and degree of difficulty. I just trimmed an inch mid-March but I am in need of a deep conditioner that does not have protein in it. Any suggestions? Thanks!! ;)
ETA I am seeing such gorgeous length pics on this page! We are on our way, ladies! ;)

Velorutionista, beautiful mane! Your color is phenomenal.
JadedByEntropy it's hard for me to 'see' TBL. I know on me TBL is about an inch and a half from BCL. You look like you're at TBL but if you're not you are very close. Looks great!
LCT, usually I'd recommend a SMT for deep conditioning but I have found oil rinsing gives me better results, actual moisture retention then anything else. My last 3-4 inches were very grabby and tangling horribly before I started oil rinsing. Haven't had an issue since starting OR I can't recall if you've been in that thread and given it a try. I have severe Monday brain ;P And as always what works for me may not for you :blossom:

I haven't posted in sooo long but my hair just reaches the tops of my bottoms when stretched! I do microtrim monthly which is why it's taking forever but on the brightside, I've finally noticed fewer and fewer split ends! :happydance: I think this can be attributed to finger detangling when conditioning ONLY but I've been practicing more benign neglect since I've stopped frequenting the forums in general. (I don't even SMT or do protein treatments anymore!)

I just posted this pic in the growing out color thread, but I trimmed my hair a bit so now only the very ends are at waist. :( I had a lot of splits and white spots though, so overall it's a good thing. I'm going to let some more length come back before I trim the v-shape back into a U. The image on the right is also my un-combed, un-styled hair. That's basically a 1b, right?

It's so hard to stick to one goal after joining the LHC! Waist was my original goal, now it's hip, in the future I might even see how long terminal is on me.
This is my hair around this time last year and my most recent length shot.
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u605/NikkiBik/k_zpsmbyhojby.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/NikkiBik/media/k_zpsmbyhojby.jpg.html)http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u605/NikkiBik/l_zpsvsiyvxyg.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/NikkiBik/media/l_zpsvsiyvxyg.jpg.html)
It doesn't seem to have grown much. Do you think maintaining for a year or so would make the hemline more thick and or even? I treat my hair well for the most part - rarely have it loose, never let it get trapped or squish it when it is. I mostly wear it in a side braid or bun during the day and a side braid at night. Sleep with coconut oil and egg in it once a week then wash it out the next morning (I wash it once a week and use deep conditioner afterwards). I let it air dry and don't use any heat ever. I use a seamless wide tooth comb to detangle once a day. I S and D any splits out of my hair but it's very rare that I have any so I don't have to do it often.
I can think of a few reasons why my hemline might be a bit thinner than the rest of it. The first is old damage - I only had a big chop to shoulder/APL at the start so the ends could well be the leftover result of my old bad habits. If that was the case then maintaining would help. It's also possibly my texture - I have an unpredictable and erratic wave pattern which might be making the ends look different to the rest of it. I think that might be part of the problem, but not causing all of it. Dye damage possibly contributes - I dye the new root regrowth permanent black but don't dye the body/length. Unfortunately this is pretty non-negotiable as I can't afford henna or the amount of vegetable dye it'd take since they wash out, and I feel like temporary dye fades so quickly that I'd have to use it more than just dying my hair once with the permanent stuff which would be more damaging. I'd also sooner shave all of my hair off than have it my natural colour. I have PCOS so my hormones might be dictating that it can't grow as long. I've not had a proper trim in a while. To top it all of, I'm really tall (6"0/1.83m) and so my hair actually needs to be much longer than the average person's to reach the body markers.
My hemline will never be 'perfect' and I'm fine with that. I'm just not sure what exactly causes the taper and I was just wondering if it'd be profitable or a waste of time to gradually cut off the ends by maintaining (getting a big trim to take it all off at once would be too much for me since it'd set me back to about BSL and it's taken two years for me to get to waist). I wouldn't want to pause the growth for several months only to find that my hair still looks the same anyway.

I like your hemline. It doesn't look different to me, it looks good. Do you think the oddly turned waves have to do with the sidebraids? It may be a trained state that the natural wave pattern conformed to. idk
If your goal is terminal eventually, you might want to think on not trimming past a certain point. I've only trimmed within the 10" I had when I started growing so that the new growth can reach its full potential. (and virgin ends hardly ever tangle!!) the only tangles and splits I get are in the bottom 5" now-where I've been trimming. Each chop is giving up on those specific hairs being the full terminal-length hairs...it haunts me from touching the scissors too much and helps reach term faster as well!

Thankyou JadedByEntropy, your response was really helpful and I'm glad you don't think it looks bad. :blossom: That's a really good point, it's more than possible that the sidebraids are causing the strange pattern. I'm not sure if that's the only reason why my ends are like that but it might be part of it. I hadn't thought of it like that! I was concerned that the taper might mean my ends would break more and be less likely to grow to their full potential. Terminal is an eventual goal so maybe I should just trim for now? Sorry to hear that trimming causes that for you. I don't actually get many splits at all anymore which in a way is more frustrating since my hair isn't actually damaged per say but still looks worse than other LHCers. I almost feel like people must see it and think I must be reckless or neglectful of it when it is actually in the best condition it's ever been since I was a child.
Thankyou Wosie! :o That's so reassuring to hear. Aren't the colours lovely? It was from George at Asda.
Welcome back to the thread Agnes. Congratulations on reaching hip and good luck with your goal - keep us updated! Short arms are very good from a hair growth point of view. :)

FuzzyBlackWaves Curls and waves make 'better' terminal textures in my opinion. They stick together and have that one longest curl that's really adorable. While the curtain-straight hairs might seem 'better' in the mid-back area, when it thins out it is very see through and 'unhealthy' much earlier because of the flowy nature of them.
It depends on your hair as to why its breaking, but I'd suggest looking through the terminal thread to see how they care for the super long. Some stick with their routines, while others have had to relearn everything [brushing washing updos] because the way it acts and damage sources change.

I trimmed mine a little today, a little less than an inch. I didn't want to trim until next month but the ends were bothering me, they feel and look much better now. I am still a little past BCL stretched. I am thinking of trimming half of my growth until i get rid of old damage which is basically the last 2,5-3 inches of my hair.

So I'll post a couple of pictures of my hair now and...let's grow together :beerchug:
Pardon me if this is too rude/TMI but if you can't find the bony lump in your butt crack that is your tailbone, you could always call tailbone halfway between the top of the butt crack (bcl) and classic. Most people find that the tailbone is 2-4 inches below bcl anyway, so if you're not there already you're definitely close!

Thank you Ambrielle :o
Nique, thank you for the explanation! I did find that bony lump, and my ends touches there when I stand straight, but still I don't think I can call that a solid TBL yet, cos either that lump is higher up on me than most people or I dunno, I'm definitely not halfway neither to classic nor down the butt crack yet... definitely close though, I probably just need a good full inch to get there!

At 33.5", I'm a solid waist right now, almost at hip. I have a few hairs that could probably be called hip if they're stretched out, but I won't call it hip yet. I've been tracking my growth monthly, and figure I'm growing an average of .75" a month. At this rate, I'll be bcl by Christmas, providing I don't trim too much. I've been doing micro trims monthly to help thicken up my hemline, and I'd like to think it's been working. I know my LHC efforts have been paying off as my ponytail thickness is 2 7/8", up from 2.5 this time last year! Yay!

Already posted this on the LHC facebook group but anyways. :D
Hair on day 8 after a wash. I think I'm getting closor to TBL, maybe another 3 months and I'll be there?

That isn't this group. (Ya. The name is REALLY similiar, but that group isn't mannerly or kind-hearted, IMHO.)
I've seen pictures of our members used there without their knowledge or permission.
They just grab pics from all over the internet and post them.
One of our members had several pictures stolen and re-posted there. They refused to take them down until she got nasty.

I'd say yes, about 3 months is correct. Very pretty! :)

Thank you! I just washed my hair and realised I'm finally at TBL when wet! Well, I guess 3 months to be solid TBL when dry. :D
And yes, I'm an ii - (9 cm ponytail circumference, sometimes close to 10, depends on when I measure)
Well your hair is very voluminous. <3 You should be proud! And once again congratulations on inching towards TBL - it's been a looong journey I assume ;)

I've had such a crappy week. So I decided to just wash my hair last night and let it dry, then detangle and do a length shot. My goodness, I'm almost at hip! That's certainly lightened up my mood. I think I'll be there in June. I'm measuring at 32.5". Some of the stragglers are 33".

Last 2 pages, beautiful hair everyone. I'm about a 1/2" from bcl & I'll be so excited to get there so I can set next goal at tbl.
Ever since reaching hip, I'm enjoying the journey and don't obsess about my length. Exception, when I get this close to a goal, I'm also getting butt obsessed. :D

I mentioned classic length at work the other day and got an "Ewww." But I look at the thread in here and think my coworker is crazy. No eww here; nothing but pages of gorgeous hair.

I have found this to be true for me as well. Once I reached hip I don't worry about length or growth rate as much as I did just a few months ago! I even cut an inch off (gasp!) without really minding. I know I've still got several inches to go before I reach my goal, but I have more patience now that it actually *feels* long, as opposed to the impatient feelings that go with trying to get past BSL and through the mid-back abyss.

I still feel really impatient at hip, but I think that's more because I don't have any definite goal in mind. I'm waiting until my hair feels comfortable and manageable and all I know is that I'm still not approaching that place. It also could be because I didn't have a mid-back abyss, my apl was 22 inches, bsl 26, waist 27.5, and where I am now at solid hip is 29, so my short torso has powered through its milestones pretty quickly and every trim would put me back one. Now my waits between milestones get longer, and even though after re-measuring I'm actually only about 15-18 months away from classic at my growth rate (my self-measurement gave me closer to 2 years), I'm preemptively getting really impatient about the wait.

I'm with you on this as well!
Once my hair fully covered my back I am just sitting back and relaxing without the stress that I used to have.

I'm always a little jealous when I hear of short measurements like yours, lol! I'm at 33.5 and haven't quite reached hip yet..

Yeah, but I bet you can reach the high shelves at the grocery store without having to climb, knock things down, or ask for help! Also, my hip length isn't as versatile, especially since my hair is thicker. If I didn't have layers, I wouldn't be able to make so much as a cinnabun to hold (I still can't if I try to do it on top of my head, I can't even get a full circle twisted around). Short milestones aren't all that great.

Grass is always greener  I want to grow more hair (inch-wise) but it'll be so long by the time I'm at 40" or 50".
Thank you everyone for your nice comments. :blossom:

I'm a bit past waist but tomorrow it will be just past shoulder. I have a bunch of curlers in. I love how that temporary shortening makes my life easier and looks cute. And then when I wash it I'm amazed by how much length I gain. It's fun.
