I've been hanging out in the waist-to-hip thread until now, but since I'm really close to graduating from there I thought I'd join in here! I'm not going all the way to tailbone, I don't think, but somewhere in between hip and there. I think I'd like the sides to reach the top of my jeans, or somewhere around there.

Which moisturizing oils does your daughter do when she wraps her hair?

The other day I used my peach/ apricot oil and avocado butter mixture on her. She went to sleep with it and the next day did not bother to wash. She said it was nice and soft. When she cw later that day her natural waves and curls were shiny and soft with no tangles. I myself mostly use the fruit oils with smaller amounts of the nut oils like almond and coconut. But other days when I remind her she uses coconut oil. She is terrible about her hair so mom reminds her:o Honey mixed with the coconut oil is nice also for a prepoo.

Only about 2.5" to go until BCL! [maybe about 4~4.5" for true TBL]
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5mgcnc8Fm1r86n73o1_400.png

Left is just my hair as is, right is me pulling it straight [top hand] and trying to mark BCL [bottom hand]. BCL is actually more where my pinky knuckle is in the photo.

I actually feel like my hair is growing now, not sure if it was the trim or just that it's summer.

Top of head as in your crown? Or from your forehead?
Its just, I'm 5'3, my legs are 32", So our torsos are the same length, you just have an inch more of legs. And my hair at 32" is brushing hip. BCL on me is 35"ish, so I'm still having a hard time picturing it. :o

feb26, most posters here are measuring from the forehead line back over the crown and down to the hem when they measure length. It is good that we try to stay consistent so that if I say my hair is 35" long most people would recognize that I'm somewhere near hip.

Oh, I'm sure you know if your hair touches your tailbone or not, I don't question that at all, but by the way we measure, from the front of the hairline - over the crown then I'm sure you are at least 32 inches.

I might as well join here too. I thought I was going to stop at hip length. Silly me . So here I am with a new goal of TB.

Am at 35" right now, which is hip on me. TB, if I am measuring it correctly, is 39" on me, but I went ahead and rounded my goal up to 40", just because. :)

Where exactly is tailbone measured to? The end of my tailbone is like mid-butt, so I think that's about 39" on me. Does that sound right?

Yeah, that sounds right. AFAIK, TBL is where the tip of your tailbone is, somewhere between BCL and CL.

That kind of sucks, because it's such a long ways. But it's not really bad, since it's only a little bit shy of classic. Either way, I'm happy to have confirmation of TBL. Some of the milestones are hard to grasp. Like for hip- I couldn't tell if people were measuring at the front hip bone, or where your shape starts to curve out to hip. It's close, but not exactly the same place.

I suppose my immediate goal then is BCL. I'll just break it down a little, to feel like it's going faster. ;)

TB is still possible for me this year, as long as I don't do any trims. I just trimmed 1/2" a few days ago- that was my first trim in almost 2 years, so I should be able to avoid doing any more before 2013.

If my hair keeps growing at present rate, then I should be classic at the end of March- just in time for my 10th anniversary. Our anniversary is nearly the only time I wear my hair down, so it will be awesome to finally have long hair when we go out!

I haven't trimmed since January and I'm approaching tailbone. I had been putting coconut oil on my ends every evening. It didn't seem to help too much and I was doing CO.

Last month I decided to CWC. The day before I shampoo, I slather my damp hair with L'Oreal Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture Creme. I loosely braid and bun it then sleep on it. I rinse it in the shower, shampoo with Suave and then condition with VO5 Vanilla Mint Tea Therapy conditioner. Rinse and I'm done.

My hair stays cleaner with this regime and it's softer. So far so good.

Joining in here! I am just barely at hip with a v-hemline and layers but I am on my way to tailbone! A long, long time ago when I was in middle school I started growing my hair out after I read a book with a girl in it who had "hair long enough to sit on". I only made it to about waist when I as 13 and didn't started growing it back out until now in my 20s. I think it would still be kind of cool to have hair that long ;). Right now, I'm my short-term goal is BCL and then probably trimming off layers back to hip and then growing to Classic. So.... I'm going to be here awhile! :p

I need a pleasant and utterly trivial diversion these days to take my mind off some stress, so I'm going to focus on reaching TB. My goal posts have moved again and now that I'm at hip, I have decided I won't be 'happy' til I get to tailbone (you all know how that goes, and that I won't be happy at TB, either). I've got about 4" to go.

Ends are thin from 2 heavy sheds within 6 months of each other. So I hope to avoid shedding again for another few years if at all possible, and have a nice hemline at TB. But I'm not counting on it, to be realistic. I might have to just be happy with wisps at TB.

I understand you completely. I had five years of a shed. I feel like I just have to get a full TBL. I also had developed natural layers. My shortest is at hip and then a another group at BCL and the lower is 1 in shy of classic. Since I am a curly I am trying for curly at TBL. I started my yoga regimine again to stop stressing :o

Bahhh. Looks like I'm going to have to do a mini chop. It seems like it took me a year to grow an inch, and now I have to chop it off. I cut my hair in...oh, maybe february 2011 to below waist, but by november it had unravelled at the ends despite having reached hip (34), and I needed to chop back to just below waist. I'm now at the low end of hip (35) and i need to chop a couple inches off again. Boo.

When you say unravelled do you mean splits? If it is only fine tapered ends then those may be healthy uncut ends growing beyond older hair that is in resting phase. The natural shape of a healthy end taperes to a point not a blumt tip. They then give the appearance of thinning but they are healthy.

No, I mean splits. The issue is that most of the splits aren't at the hemline. Some appear to have a healthy tip, but there's a split in the hair a few inches higher, or more often shorter hairs that end higher in my length have splits on their ends. I even have some of those hairs that have 5 or 6 splits along their length if I look hard enough. The total number of splits at different lengths in my hair is now much higher than it used to be, but I'm not sure what can be done for them.

I have those splits, too. I cut them off and then try to wear my hair in a different style to lessen the friction damage in one spot. Also try to make sure those areas get lots of moisture:)

Mononoke, congrats on getting to waist length! Your hair looks lovely! :)

I just reached Hip, which means that TBL is only 2" away now. I'm really hoping that I will get there before the Autumn Equinox. I don't have any special meaning attached to that date, but it seems like a good milestone to go by since it's in accordance with the seasons.

I don't think my hair is going to feel like actual TBL until mid-butt, though, since the bottom of my tailbone ends rather high up.

I hope it's okay to post here as I'm miles away and probably wont reach this length but I have a question. What ponytail thickness are you? I'm curious because I'm assuming that at my 2.75 I'm not going to ever make waist. But I think it's more the case of a short terminal. Anyway, I'm curious. Thanks ;-)

Goodness no, there are plenty with your ponytail circumference and smaller who reach longer lengths. :) If you have a short terminal length that might be an issue, but still. Have you seen Luxepiggy or AspenSong's hair? (By no means the only ones, just the first to come to my mind.) Their hair is like sheets of silk! Luxepiggy's maintains between hip and TB, and AspenSong is around hip length I think, might be longer.

Thanks ;-)

2.75" here. :waving:

Hairitic and annah! CONGRATS!

2 1/2 inches is soooo close! I bet you could sneeze and be there :D I know when i was waiting to get to waist those last inches took fooorrrreeevver!

Does the henna gloss make your hair very red? Ive been kinda thinking about trying it...but im so unsure about the color i know it lasts foorrevver (see above lol) but the idea that it could help prevent split ends is soo tempting.

Lets see your waist picture!

Hi Dovetail;
Yes, Henna will make your hair Red :p! You could do Amla treatments to get similar conditioning effects without color change (unless you have white/light hair). You might also look into Catnip soaks here: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=476
Seems to do a great job at preventing split ends :D!
Best wishes for healthy, spit free hair.

At 2,5 to 2.75 inches thickness here. Am at hip now but I been to almost classic in the past, with thick ends. It is more a matter of having a short terminal than thickness. So give it a shot, and you might surprise yourself :)

My ponytail ranges between 2.5 and 3". 32.5" of hair today, which makes me a pretty solid waist. I measured because when my parents visited they were marveling happily over how long my hair had gotten, and since I'd air dried to measure for Earthnut's wavelength and amplitude poll anyway...

Looks like I 'accidentally' hit waist without realizing it! So I'm moving over to this thread. I've been growing out a super-short pixie cut since Dec 2008, when I got pregnant with our first wee one. I'm pregnant with #2 now, but no difference in growth or anything hair-related in either pregnancy. Oh, I had less shedding in the first pregnancy. So far, nothing's changed in this one.

I haven't measured in a while, but I noticed a few days ago that I was about an inch or two away from BCL! :cheese:

Unfortunately I'll still need to trim an inch or so before school starts, the ends are getting splitty again . I'll take a picture in a second :]

Hola! =) Just peeking in. :couch:

For awhile I thought I was above waist, then I think I'm at waist, and now I'm wondering if I'm past it? I measured my hair again and it's always 29inches...but the pictures I've taken just don't add up. I started here at 28 inches in May. That means just 1 inch in three months? Totally doesn't make since it looks like I grew much more than that :P Maybe I measured wrong in the beginning. lol

and now...

http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx50/iluvchicken/Photoon2012-07-26at2316.jpg

I'm going for terminal and there is damage that my hair seems to mask really well once moisturized with coconut oil and sulphate free products. In the next week I plan on taking off an inch and slowly taking out my layers.

I haven't posted here in a while. I was hoping to graduate past tailbone quickly, but ended up taking a trip to the barber shop. My ends were getting kinda scraggly, so I decided a trim was in order. I mean, I was already there with my step-mom, so why not, right? I showed her this picture from last year as a hem-line reference:
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ZYCAW8Sd5TM/TnKP8kC91WI/AAAAAAAAABk/ndQmMQESn_E/s512/A4.JPG
But I also told her I wanted to keep most of my length, as I am still growing it out. She was super fast, and I was really nervous. This is what it looked like July 14th:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-aNUMSffUAyY/UALQLnQmfpI/AAAAAAAAArc/yOjN62_c8pI/s512/7.14.12d.JPG and then after my trim:

I think I'm soooooo close to tailbone with wet hair, if not there already. I mean I would like another inch just so I can be at peace with myself...but anyway I think I will need to trim soon. Microtrimming has been good to me in kinda keeping away splits and such but I'm not feeling that my hemline is getting thicker which is the main reason for trims anyway
I might straighten soon and have a length shot.

Joining the club! I was at tailbone, but my hair was whispy and in bad condition, so I cut off about 5 in. 4 months ago. It has already grown a bit. :)

I'm babying it for the most of the time, CWC, deep moisturizing treatment once a week, oiling after washing it and distribute a cone-leave in, with the occasional heat styling and oops-I-forgot-to-put-my-hair-up and now it has turned into dreadlocks. I'm also trying to do S&Ds once a month.

Haven't got any pictures from right after the chop, but I have a before shot and a recent one:

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t104/Locust-Invasion/Haar/june12twistbunnedft.png
The older picture shows off my length and ends okay, I didn't keep records on it at the time and haven't got any other photos.

I just realised that when stretched I'm juuust at BCL! :D And even curly I'm solidly past hip. This is gratifying because I've been in a frustratingly complete growth stall all month - nice to know that at least I'm at a bit of milestone.

About 4cm to go till TB stretched. If I can pull out of this stall, I might make it by the end of the year...

Well, I think I'll be okay. I clarified this morning to get all the gunk out that the hairdresser used. I'm trimming regularly to get rid of layers, and I think I'm close enough to stop for a long while.

Layers in the last three to four inches are something that I not only can live with - but I think might be beneficial to my curls. Now, I think my mini-goal will be to benign neglect my hemline for a good chunk of time and see it I can get some growth. For now my ultimate length goal is TBL curly, which should be about classic when pulled straight. I should get there in ummm. ..hmmm.. about two or three more years. It seems like a long time, but I've already been a member here for just over two years and it seems like I joined up yesterday.:cheese:

Hello everyone!

I'm joining this thread. August 30 this year I measured and took a pic of my hair for the first time in two years. September 2010 I was barely brushing BSL (25.5 inches). I realized that I've now passed WL and am now at "brushing hip lenght" with 32.3 inches.

So I graduated from the APL to BSL thread and joined this one instead :D

Here's the pic from September 2010, and the most recent (September 2012):
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8038/7983143059_0c1372de9f_n.jpghttp://farm9.staticflickr.com/8448/7955356144_24715da54d_n.jpg

My spreadsheet tells me I should be at TB in 9 months or so. I expect to be at solid hip length in January for my graduation ceremony. But I'm getting a trim in a few weeks, so we'll see about the growth estimation...

So, what have I've been doing for these two years? I've been washing with SLS-free shampoo and using cone free conditioners. I've been using sweet almond oil and coconut oil and occasionally a very silicone packed "hair oil". I've been using a TT, and I've been wearing my hair up almost every day (braid, braided ponytail or a pencil bun). Mostly benign neglect I would say. It's just been there, and slowly growing longer and longer. Hooray!

Now I've started to experiment again, just for the fun of it. I plan to try a cassia treatment, and also do a henna gloss (the first for two years, maybe three, I don't remember!). I've bought a new hair stick off the swap board, and I've learned to do the Nautilus bun and the LWB, and I made a paranda. :D

I really enjoy my hair right now!

How is it that I have not posted here yet? This is absolutely the thread for me. :p I'm not sure whether I want to settle with tailbone, classic, or longer, but I'm planning on growing to tailbone, maintain until my (awful, horrible, pesky) layers are gone, and decide then.
I am currently at waist -- past it some days, and some days only just brushing it depending on how the wurls are behaving.
kitschy (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/member.php?u=30976), your curls and thickness are amazing.
I am about three inches away from hip, I'd say, and 7 or 8 inches from TB? I'm not sure where TB is supposed to be, really. :p At any rate, I should be here for a while. Wherever it is, tailbone seems ages and miles away.
In this pic (sig pic), taken almost exactly one month ago, my hands are at waist (I was thrilled at how solidly I looked waist that day. Like I said, it depends).
Hair does not seemed to have grown at all in August, or at least I measured the exact same length as in July. I'd been getting 1" of consistent growth each month over April-May-June-July, but suddenly, nada. I figured I must have made a mistake somewhere and let it slide. Guess I'll see at the end of this month. :p

Not anywhere near hip yet, if hip counts as top of hip bones. :p I can tell. The pic is probably bad, though.

Hip is where the pelvis bones stick out under your waist when your thin, I think. Of course I haven't seen my pelvis bones for about 20 years. So it comes after waist length, but before bum-crack length (BLC). You look like your fairly close to hip in that picture to me, but I could very well be wrong.

That's what I meant when I said top of hip bones. :p You can't really see them in that pic, I think they're below the cut.
But thanks for clarifying.
I was aiming for BCL at first, then learnt what it was called. :D What a name.

But then it would be around the same place as TBL... wouldn't it? (Of course, I say that, but I have no clue where TBL is). On the little graphs of women with the lines indicating where lengths are hip is between waist and BCL, basically at where you can feel the top of your hip bones.
I think I'll stick to inches rather than body marks. :p

I thought that Hip is when you move your hand down from waist till you feel bones. So that's the top of the hipbones I guess.

I'm joining officially :) Let's share my progress :

It depends on your body. Hip (as in widest part) and TB are about 4 inches apart on me. I've never been able to feel my hip bones, so I have no idea.

Yesterday I discovered that when people mean hipbones, they mean those bones that they can feel on the sides, when they slide their hands from waist down. What a discovery!
I thought that "widest part of torso" is quite changeable thing and I have no big mirror here so I wouldn't be able to see if I am there or not. So for marking hip I picked two little bones, funny round things that are visible in the front, in the area of my hips, where my torso is wide. Probably not where it's widest but somewhere lower. But those are way lower than the tops of the proper hipbones, those on the sides. So... I am kind of at hip. Which is... WOW. But I won't change the marking, I'll keep placing the ribbon where the round funny bones at the front are. That's 90cm on me, 35.5".

I'm pretty petite so its hard to see where my waist and hips are, so i go by the start of the actual hip bones at the side/front.

Hey everyone! I hope it's ok for me to join your thread even though I'm not really planning to grow my hair as long as tailbone ... I'm actually 'just' aiming for hip length, but nobody ever posts on the waist to hip thread, so I thought I'd just join here instead? :D

I've reached waist fairly recently, so now I'm just a little past waist and still have about 4.5 inches left to reach hip (my longest layer).

Is it just me, or does hair this length tangle more than hair above waist? Maybe it's just me. I'm trying some different things to help, but my ends are so dry! Tonight I oiled for the first time, so maybe doing that long-term will help.

My hair tangles more now. But it has always been tangly, and now there's just a lot more of it. In my case, it's probably just how my hair is.

But I've been experiencing increased dryness in the ends lately (which makes the tangling worse), and I'm trying to combat that. Some of it is probably related to my experimenting and me deviating from my routine, and some of it might be caused by me spending time in the sun with salt water from the ocean in my hair. I'm going for a trim in a few weeks, but until then, I do what I can at home.

Oiling seems to help, but my hair only tolerates sweet almond oil for oiling.

Last night I washed my hair. And I did let it dry free. Then I realised it was a lot longer than I thought it was. It was inch or two past the hip bones higest point.

I tought week ago that I was waist, put some pictures to LHC and well everyone agreed that I was hip lenght. I have less than 2" to BCL and maybe 4" to TBL. Xmas 2013 is realistic goal after all.

At a tad more than waist length, my hair finally feels 'long' :D It's a great feeling ... but it comes along with the 'is everywhere and slightly annoying' problem :D But I'm so totally sticking it out until ALL OF MY LENGTH is at hip, which means my longest layer is going to have to be at tailbone.

Just sitting on hennaboy's page ordering me some henna and cassia. I've been hennaying for the past 10 years, planned on growing it out, but decided I love the amazing conditioning properties of henna too much ... Thinking of doing the 30/70 henna/cassia and see where it takes me ...

UGHHH. My hair grows so fricking slow!! I last cut my bangs in november, and they would have been about 3 inches, pulled straight. They're 7-7.5 now, 10 months later. And I have to chop the bottom, too. My split ends are getting longer. It's just annoying, because most of my hair is fine, it's just about 1/6 I'm moving 1 milestone a year at this rate! About 2 inches from tailbone, and it'll be 4 by the time I'm done getting rid of these splits.

I wish I could ignore the length but since my goal is to reach hip before starting to microtrim my layers away and I'm getting pretty close, I can't ignore it. Also my ends are starting to feel quite icky from the old damage so I can't wait to get to hip. I last trimmed half a cm in May. It should take about 2 months more to reach hip so I can start trimming.

These pictures were taken about 2 weeks ago. It's wash day hair so doesn't look its greatest and the light is doing weird things to the color, but oh well, it shows the length.

On the plus side, I'm only about an inch away from hip (eyeballing it) when stretched, which is one or two months, depending. I don't get that much shrinkage, so I should be almost hip by Christmas.

A couple of days ago my hair was just brushing classic! Then I cut it this morning so now it is like two inches away from classic!
I don't know if I want that length anymore, it feels like it is so much hassle to take care of it now. Dye damage is starting to catch up, and I can't wear it down if I want to sit on the couch because then I sit on it!

Recently that thought came up in me too Isilme. Classic is gorgeous but I also wonder about the hassle, and sitting at it. Between TB and classic is already long too. Thigh also seemed great, but the more I think about it, the more I also might just stop at TB or an inch or so longer.. wearing it down every now and then and enjoying it is more important to me than having it a certain length but no fun.

Hip is like an inch or so away but I noticed a MAJOR scary problem that makes me reconsider growing hair longer... Peoples cigarettes! I live in a city and have to walk through the hustle and bustle almost daily, there's been a couple of close calls where my hair has nearly singed off from walking past people smoking :run:

I think this means I'll have to start wearing a loose braid or something. Even last night while at a party, I wore my hair down and my friend nearly burnt a chunk. Maybe I will give myself that microtrim today :/

When my hair is straight or wet I'm past tailbone, but when its dry and curly i'm about 3 inches away. It's going to take me 6 months to get to tailbone, so hopefully by the time I graduate in June I'll have beautiful curly tailbone length hair. My dream length is so close yet so far away.

I can't find the waist to hip thread, so ill post here. My goal was hip by November and I reached hip last month. I think I have about an inch to tb, but I'm not sure where tb is. Is it the top of your *ahem* crack?
(Couldn't think of a better word, sorry if offensive)

Your tailbone is the last bony bit, it is generally an inch or so below the top of the crack (which BTW is abreviated to BCL in these parts).

Yay I get to join this thread now - since I hit waist dry when straight recently! (I'll be hip wet before I hit waist with the loose rag curls I usually wear though *sniff*). I'm going for Classic with the curls/waves and a U shaped hem, so I guess 46" will do it since Classic straight is around 41". Onwards to hip - hopefully by Feb

Ok, I've been at waist for quite a while. I haven't noticed that there is a thread like this one.

I'm in :)

Hard to tell how much I have left before I'll hit the goal, but I measure that it's at least one hand held horizontally from the ends of my hair to the BCL or TBL. Just to be sure... BCL is buttcrack length right :grnbiggri?

Next onto TBL but it will take a while since I'll be microtrimming monthly to get rid of layers.

At least I now know my crown can be longer than waist where is has been for ever.

I have a couple things to share.

I went to the hairdresser's for the first time since... well, this summer, actually, but that was a horrible experience best not mentioned again. Anyway. I just went there to buy a deep conditioner, because I'd run out of my old one, not for a cut or anything. I switched brands this time (for one three times cheaper). It was my first time in this salon, a small one in my "town" (village? :p) that is quite homey. The hairdressers are lovely, and the one who takes care of my mother's hair wanted to see mine (because my mother had told her it was long and curly). It was all oiled up and bunned, but to her credit she insisted on seeing it down and didn't flinch when she saw its state. She actually ran her hands over it (I repeat, it was oiled) and complimented me on the length and asked me some questions about my routine -- how often I wash it, things like that. *cough* Didn't dare tell her about co-washing.

The length! That was my second thing to say. I took a length shot last week (on a striped shirt, too, though that wasn't done on purpose) and was still an inch from hip with my longest curl, at least two inches for the rest. So either I'm blind as a bat, or I have no clue where hip is, or I get way more shrinkage than I thought. Last week I liked the way my curls looked a lot (lots of volume, tighter curls than usual) and took this picture:
http://i48.tinypic.com/2n1xawk.jpg

Today, when I slicked my hair up with the new DC (dry hair), I got this:
http://i45.tinypic.com/2eocqqs.jpg
My hands are at top of hip bones here.
I've... passed hip when stretched without even noticing it. It crept up on me! My measuring tape isn't as generous as length shots... I'll probably stick with pictures from now on.

I was so surprised I decided to take a length shot of it dry and curly, with my hands at hip again, and.... Riiight. Okay, curl shrinkage varies. You can actually see that the curls are looser, and that results in less volume than last week (I really need to find out what I did last week). Duly noted. I won't count myself as hip until I'm always there (and not just when the curls decide to), but I'm feeling quite giddy right now.
http://i46.tinypic.com/34rc68k.jpg
You know, I thought that once I was at hip I'd feel like I had long hair, but nope. Maybe BCL is it for me?
My ends could do with a trim for some thickening, but I actually like the way they're all different lengths, so I'll hold out for a little while more.

I wanted to pop in and say hello to all the lovely longhairs on this thread!

I've been just brushing waist for a couple of months now. I'm maintaining here until I grow out my dye damage, so my hair will belong in this thread for a while! Here's a pic from after my most recent microtrim and clarify, about a week ago. I'm not perfect with Feye's self-trim, but I'm getting better! My hair just isn't very cooperative about it. My thumb (bottom right, look closely) is at waist.

Dark Curls you have the perfect combination of curls and volume. It will be definately medevil maiden hair at TBL then on to Classic. I am striving for Classic curly.. That will take me a long while. You are so bitten by the bug of it doesn't seem long. I will most likely still feel its not long until it is Calf length.

Hey all, I think I can safely say I am finally at tailbone. although not 100% when it's dry/curly, but my hair is sitting comfortably at tailbone when it's straight or even wet with looser curls. I will post pics from my last flat iron job. I have been doing monthly micro trims since I took it, and I have no problem keeping my hair at this length atleast for the next 6 months or so..

Okay here is the link to my album (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=5139)with 2 pictures one with natural texture and one after flat ironing...
This was over 3 months ago and I do realize that it's a little shorter than TBL but the stylist took off about 2 inches that day before the pic and my hair has grown back..
anyways, even if I do qualify at tailbone I will be here for a while longer cause I want to thicken my hemline alot.
BTW are the previously uploaded pics gone or what?

I'm at tailbone too! BCL wurly and TB stretched. Woot! This is a major interim goal for me, and I plan on maintaining here for some time to thicken my ends. (If I can go through with it... this time last year I was saying the same thing about hip.)

Cleopatra18, I can't see your pics, but as far as I know albums are still as broken as they've been for most of the year. There's an announcement on the site somewhere that says the pics are all still there, just inaccessible until the admin folks fix whatever it is that's wrong.

Congrats Kit on the straight tailbone! It's quite an accomplishment! I'd go nuts with curly hair :p I'm too impatient.

Anyway, I was wondering, I've just started (read this morning) putting up my up on top of my hair when I'm at home. I'm thinking this will exercise my follicles and maybe help alleviate the winter growth slowing that I seem to get. However, my poor head is kind of tender (in a strange it feels good kind of way) I know this is from my hair being pulled in ways it usually isn't but how long does it usually take to go away? and do you suppose this feeling is something like blood being in the area (which would be a good thing) and is something I should "like" ? Hm.

Thanks everyone, for the kind words. I often think I should cut my hair back to waist since I wear it down most of the time - and even though I fight the stereotype, I'm 56, and wonder is my hair is 'too long.' But I think I agree with you vintagecoilylocks, the weight of the increased length helps my curls look less frizzy, sleeker, more maintained and healthier. I guess I'll keep growing and see what happens.

Oh, I don't think hair could ever be too long if it looks healthy. I actually really REALLY like to see long hair on more mature women. I think it reminds me of the powwows I used to go to as a child (which seems odd, but I have a lot of nostagla attached to them!)

AnqeIicDemise Congrats on being so close! It must be a tease.

Nononono not too long at all!!! It's so beautiful. I don't like stereotypes either, but what I do like is a healthy head of hair like yours! So precious. And I think it's to your advantage that it's not that common - it is so inspiring for people who think they need to cut their hair just because they've reached a certain age. If I saw your hair and just had cut mine "to look my age yada yada" I would be like WHY DID I DO IT.

kitschy please dont ever cut your hair!!!

personally i actually really disike the shorter 'mom' hair that women start getting in middle age onwards. all these trendy choppy pixies or stepped bobs that are shorter at the back. i find them to be most unflattering to an aging face, very harsh contrast indeed. also i think it's a huge loss of womanliness when they do it. obviously this is just my personal opinion and taste.

i really like your colours too.
