Okay everyone, listen up. I was a frequent 2-step henndigo user up until about a month ago, and obviously, the indigo had faded for some reason. It faded a lot, and it was fading to a very ugly brown. As in, not just on me, on anyone. Weird orange and yellow highlights on a really dark slate base.
I was all out of indigo, so I started honey lightening and mayonnaise treatments to see if I could strip some of the lingering indigo, and over a couple weeks, I sure did, and I figured, well, here goes, why not, so I went out and got some red manic panic and mixed it in with henna. I left that on for about two hours. This is the result. Black to dark auburn in less than a month, hair looks and feels healthier than ever. As much as I'm going to miss the black, the auburn looks younger and fresher on me, not to mention more feminine, and the black was not worth the upkeep and the mess. And the smell of week old exotic cuisine for an hour every month. :p
Please excuse the slept-on braidwaves/frizzies. Had to take the pic before I forgot.

So if anyone is trying to get from indigo black to any kind of dark red, there is, indeed, hope. You just need patience and a lot of mayonnaise. :o

ETA - pics taken with flash, but they are pretty true to color in broad daylight!

I am blinded by the shine! It is a lovely colour, its really great that your persistence and patience paid off with stripping the indigo. :)
