I'm not sure which I am. It just hits my bra strap. What exactly is armpit length? Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask!

:( there are no links... just code

I think you may need to select the first part of the code with the "" around it and use the link tool- it looks like a sideways 8.

Welcome to LHC...I fixed your link for you!

There you go, everyone! :)

If it's hitting your bra strap, it's BSL. If you wrap a towel around your body up to your arm pits and the hair is just hitting the towel, you're Arm Pit length, or APL.

Looks to me you're BSL.

It may indeed be BSL. Your hair looks great- very healthy looking.

You look between APL and BSL to me, but it can be hard to tell from a picture... BSL stands for bra strap length. Do your ends hit your bra strap (if you want to be specific I suppose it would actually be the "band" of the bra)? That's the sure way to tell.

Wow, you guys are great, and fast! Thank you for fixing the link, I can't edit because I don't have the permissions yet.

Kathie, thank you for the compliment! As an aside, that's how my Aunt spells her name, I never met another Kathie.

Teela, sorry, I meant band.

To be honest, I think for most women there is little difference between APL and BSL because most women's bras hit about under the pits. I always thought it was a funny distinction to make. I feel like, in relation to the other length markers, it should be pixie, chin, shoulders, BSL/APL (same thing), then mid-back, waist, hip, tailbone, classic, etc.

ETA- I have an Aunt Kathie, too!

For me, after APL comes shoulder-blade length and bottom of shoulder blade length. That whole bra strap length is just stupid to me - the strap goes over the shoulders, so really, you could be shoulder length and call it BSL. Plus about half the population is male; no bra.

To me, BSL is a good 2-3 inches below the bottom of the shoulderblades, about where I would call "midback", maybe 4-5 inches below my pits. Braband in back is generally at the same level as it is in front, and I like to call BSL by the bottom of the band rather than the top, given how much variation exists with the things.

Just to confuse things, we also have "SBL" (shoulder blade length) and "MBL" (mid-back length).

I'd probably say you're at SBL, somewhere between APL and BSL.

If its not BSL then it is very close- maybe an inch or two away at most.

OP, I think you are APL.

I was worried to see a comment under your picture where someone has recommended that you cut off your hair for "Locks Of Love." There's a whole thread about them somewhere in this forum - they're a bit of a scam. Just thought you should know.

because most women's bras hit about under the pits.

The top of their bra strap, perhaps, but I think "BSL" refers to the bottom of the strap, doesn't it?

I think "strap" in this case actually means "band" (in which case the acronym is wrong and ought to be BBL!!)

Yeah, I'm probably more APL than BSL, I thought I might be :p

RE: Locks of Love, yeah, I looked into it when I was at University, and they're not the chemo-wigs everyone seems to think they are. (I didn't have the time to post about what a scam I think it is in the Flickr comments.) Found out the hard way when a roomate's 'trimming' of my hair lopped off from midback to shoulder length. When I felt the weight drop I just sat there holding the hair, letting the realization sink in that the rest needed to go to even it out.

I still get angry thinking about it, what a betray of trust that was

Do people really wear bras that creep up into their pits? I tend to think of APL as being where a string would lie if you wrapped it under your arms at the highest point up in there... which is several inches above my bra band...

I think you're right at the top of BSL, or at APL+ :)

Beautiful hair, and good job trimming yourself.

Well, for the record, my bra strap (band) is much lower than my arm pits. I considered my hair BSL when it was to the BOTTOM of my strap (band), because the band sizes vary in width from bra to bra, but the bottom of the strap is usually in the same spot.

I'd say you're at APL+ length-almost bra strap :)

I would think that if someone is wearing their bra band up under their arm pits, they have a very ill fitting bra!

For me, my bra band rests pretty low on my back ribs, only about 4 inches above my waist.

I've just got to chime in about bras. The band at the back should be level with the middle or lower half of the breast for the best fit. Also, different cuts of bras have different shapes and sizes of cups. Thus if you are comfortable wearing (for example) C-cup in one model, you might feel more comfortable in a D-cup of another model. You can sometimes fool yourself into thinking a cup fits by adjusting the straps but this will most likely not feel good after wearing the bra for hours. Straps are there for a reason of course but that reason is not to pull the braband up to your shoulders. So, ladies, when you shop for bras, let the band lay as it is meant to lay (straight across, level with your breasts) and do not be surprised that your cup size and even circumference may be different in different bras. And if the shape of the model itself don't fit, don't start playing with the straps, just leave that bra unbought. :)

And to get back on topic. OP, you are at APL+. BSL is more-or-less in the middle of waist and APL

I guess...bras shouldn't be up close to the arm pits...the band that wraps around your torso should be horizontal to the bottom part of the breasts...and BSL is at the top of this band.

APL is easy...wrap a towel or measuring tape/ribbon around your torso horizontally right up in the crook of your arm pit. If your hair just reaches this line, your hair is APL. :)

I guess for guys, BSL could be MCL or mid chest line?

For me APL is smack bang between shoulder and BSL.

Looks almost BSL to me...so APL+.

I would have said APL. For me there is a pretty big difference in the 2.

Slight hijack, but that's just wrong, though! Bras should never be that high. Here's a site with some information and pictures: http://bratenders.com/support/goodbad.html

Edit: Annnnnnd now I see the people have already posted about this. Oops. 90% of the time I read the entire thread before posting...

In my opinion, BSL is the middle of the ribcage. In that case, you're APL+ or BSL-, which means you're somewhere between these two.
