So I’m aiming to one day have virgin hair on my quest I realized that I couldn’t stand the contrast between my ashy roots and increasingly brassy blonde. So I went to my trusted colorist and she put a semi-permanent just on the blond- the roots are still virgin... here’s the before ( sorry I’m a little shaky with the camera sometimes)

I'm really happy with the result... those roots were driving me a bit mad. Since its a semi-perminant it will wash out a bit but it hopefully wont go as brassy :happydance:

it looks great and will certainly help with the growing out pains. I did something similar about 2 years ago but with permanent dye over hi-lights and have never regretted it.

That looks great and perfectly natural! I agree that it will make growing out a ton easier for you since you won't have to go crazy with the color difference.

looks very nice!

As someone in the same boat in summer of 2006, I can say the following:

1) it WILL grow out (the dye as well as the bleach) sooner than you think. :D

2) watch out for 'natural' wash methods - in my case SMTs faded the cover-up dye within 2 months, and I was back to two-toned and brassy. In retrospect I would have used color-protective products more back then.

good luck and enjoy the journey towards embracing your natural color! :)

Your colorist did a perfect job! It will fade, but hopefully it fades nicely.

Your natural hair color is very pretty! Good look growing.

Looks amazing!!! So well blended, I love it!

Im hating my roots atm (growing out) so its great to see someone succeed at finding a way to keep going for virgin hair but has monotone :D

That looks great. If I had been going light to dark I totally would have done something like this. It looks wonderful. Your stylist is a keeper.

Thanks everyone :D Its going to take a while to get use too but I'm loving it. And yes, my colorist is a keeper :agree: It will be interesting to see how it fades out... time will tell.

It looks great. Im also going virgin and I have a semilar transition. Dark blond/redish to brassy blond. And I just hate it but I don't think that I will do anything about it for now. Im just wearing it up and trying not to think about it. And I have only had bad experinces with salons. :(
But yor hair looks amazing with the dye job.:D

looks very good!

I did a similar thing about 4 years ago (see profile pic with horse - that was the dark dye) but unfortunately all the nice hair friendly LHC things I did (especially SMTs and Rhassoul) faded the dye out within 1.5 months. So I just lived with the two-tone, which looked a LOT like yours, except it was longer (APL) when I started.

Now after much trimming I finally have virgin hair! It DOES work but needs a lot of patience.

And ashy 'hair colored' hair is beautiful too, IMO more so than brassy blonde...
