Mine is the sock bun and a large messy bun

The hypno-bun is my go-to bun. It stays so well and doesn't take long at all to do.

This changes for me all the time. When my hair was shorter, I loved looped messy buns. Now, I'm partial to cinnamon buns, log rolls, Chinese and Japanese buns. I know, long list, but I'm a fan of variety as well :p

It tends to change with the week, as I'm learning new styles and such. :D Right now it's the Japanese bun. Holds like a rock for me!

I usually wear my hair in a cinnamon bun or in a hypno-bun. :)

Until recently, it was the sock bun, but since I got my Goody SpinPins I've been doing the cinnabun/beebutt bun a lot more. I could never get those buns to hold before because my hair is so heavy, but they hold really well with the spin pins (hair screws) and are a lot more comfortable than they were when I was using a whole pack of bobby pins to try and hold them up.

I still fall back on the sock bun on oiling days, though.

What's the Japanese bun?

Whatever bun I can do that holds and is comfortable for the longest period of time. It varies. Some days nothing works. I strongly dislike sock buns and Chinese buns, so won't try those.

Either a lazy wrap bun or my soft twisted updo with a Ficcare (it isn't a bun, but I wear it all the time).

Hmm, :hmm: it really depends on my hair day-to-day. I think I would do a Hypno bun every day if my hair would cooperate. But some days my hair just doesn't want to do a Hypno bun, nor a Pencil bun, nor an Artemis bun. :justy: On those days it usually wants to do a Cinnabun or Beebutt bun. But sometimes it only wants to be in a ponytail. I must bow to the whim of my hair. :bowtome:

I feel like my hair is too short for buns. ):
It's almost at my bra strap though, 23 inches I think?

I need to experiment I think!

For the time being, I'm really enjoying the Figure-8 bun. It holds really well and looks nice on my head. :D (Heh, not all buns look nice on my head...).

My favourite bun is the infinity bun with a flexi8. Its just so easy to do. :-)

My favorite is either a lazy wrap or a cinnamon bun. However, like cmnt, I am totally at my hair's mercy. Some days it won't do anything! (Those days it gets shoved into a snood or an Afican butterfly. Insubordinate hair! )

I can't say no to a sock bun! They are protective, stylish, hold well and look great.

I love the sock bun at the moment, but it changes every time I learn a new style!

I love sock buns :D my other favorite style is the Gibson Tuck, but that doesn't count, does it ;)

The cinnamon bun - It's the only bun I can make due to my &%§@%$ layers. I change the hairtoys to fix it quite often, sometimes a few times a day - 2 sticks, 3 sticks, flexi8, ficcare, various forks ... to keep me away from feeling bored until my hair is longer :).

Nautilus bun all the way! Though, I just bought Spin Pins (got paid last night, paid my bills and set about preparing for a week away from home. I finally located spin pins at Walgreens. I know you can get them at :frown: WALMART :frown: but have personnal reasons for not giving them my business </personal rant>. Walgreens only had blonde colored, but that didn't really matter. I figured I should get two sets incase I needded them, which it turns out I did. I saw thew look on my Spouse's face when I reached for them, but he smiled and said I deserved them. Good things can happen when you least expect them, and got an unadvertised special at Walgreen's Drugs (buy one get one Goody products). YAY!

For everyday-stile my favorite is the lazy wrap bun (it's really quick and easy for me to do, and stays well with only 1 stick all day long...)
For outgoings and such I like the rosebun and the chinese bun... After seing the tutorial I want to add to the list the japanese bun as well - it looks so pritty... :)
I also like the look of a fully-roled sock bun, but haven't tried it myself yet...

1.A fully rolled sock bun. So elegant!
2.A celtic knot, though I cannot do it properly yet. Looks so complicated and ornamental!
3. Cinna bun :) Always works!

I can only do cinnabun and lazy wrap bun, so I alternate those two. I like buns that hold together with only one hairstick.

Hypno-bun? Sounds interesting. I hope instructions on the article section includes some video clips...

For ignorant me. What buns are what. All I know is that I twist my hair into a bun, secure with a hairtie and call it a day. I also put it in a pony but not pull the ends all the way through. I know no fancy names.

Mmmmm... pecan sticky bun....

Oh, wait. I mean, Nautilus or Lazy Wrap.

Since I'm very new to the world of updos, I know how puzzling all these names are. This forum is full of hints and instructions, so you may want to use the forum search or these pages: Links to VITs - Very Important Threads (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=32573), Style instructions links - help needed! (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=8235) You'll find lots of articles written by forum members here: Hair styling Articles (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=category&categoryid=1). It's pretty worth the effort!

As mentioned before, my favourite bun is a cinnamon, as shown here by Madeleine (http://www.haarkram.e-something.de/bun_instructions.html). This one is much bigger (http://www.instructables.com/id/Hairstyles-for-Hair-Sticks/step2/Cinnamon-Bun/), might be the size of most of the forum members ;). The last two links will take you out of the forum.

I really like this version of the chopstick bun:

You can make it really tight and it stays up very well

I really like the Flipped Bun. It's easy, holds well, and turns out quite pretty for me.

wow, the buns universe is sucking me in :D no, really, I hate the look of most of the buns - so dated, and sock bun - yeah, sometimes it looks okay but you should really know for sure you are not gonna want to undo your hair at some point during the night (if you know what I mean *wink-wink*)
one thing that works for me is a no sock kinda bun where, erm, I guess you just wrap your hair around your hair tie instead of a sock and it's not a fully wrapped kinda thing but that basic sock bun thing with some loose ends which you have to tuck in later. again, I don't use sock but do the rest of the routine. god, I wish I knew the name for this :)
I also just found this vid of an updo which I just now tried and it looks great! I managed to get it very casual so I'm gonna go for a walk with it. here is the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUZ7iGCnULg (it's partly a bun so I guess this qualifies)

Well its kind of a toss because since im basically alone all the time and dont feel that great i dont really put to much effort into my hair looking nice juat being protected. So my fav easy protective bun is a classic cinnabun since its easy and i can hold it most if not all day with screws or U pins, if i dont have a hairtoy at hand or am too sick/lazy to go get one i do a gibson girl minus the poof lol.

When i want to look nice my current fav is the cowry bun since it makes my hair look like its on viagra :p lol

These days I do whatever bun happens to come to mind but no favorites. I kind of rotate between lazy-wrap, nautilus, celtic knot (which is the only wrapped bun I can do that doesn't twist on me), equilibrium, Spidermom's bun that stays and a french twist held with a clip or a spin-pin, which is not a bun but is close enough for me. I'm really into buns and I love learning new ones. I spent three weeks straight, last year, going through the bun tutorials and memorizing as many as I could. Braids are fun but I LOVE BUNS!!!!:D:D

I love cinnamon buns because they make the best waves. That way, if I decide to let my hair down, it still looks nice.

I'm lazy and updo-tarded so I usually do a cinna-bun, in the past I would do a kind of mutant infinity one or a chinese bun. I was inspired by this thread to do a chinese bun. :) Literally been years since I wore my hair like this!

Cinnamon bun is only bun I can do. I try to make it messy, but I don't have enough hair to keep it holding if I make it too messy.
