3 years of hair growth and fresh henna

Hi Everyone:

I came across this 3yr old photo of me and it made me realize how much my hair has changed.

Aug of 2007 is about when I decided to grow my hair out. This was my last chic short hairstyle. I'd been trying to inch it out longer bit by bit but keeping a "style". After this I just bit the bullet and stopped cutting:

July 2008, shortly after joining LHC and right after first henna application. Strange layers and I wasn't really liking my hair. This was a really awkward phase that I don't want to go through again:

August 2010, fresh henna. I'm pretty happy with it. Except for it getting sucked into my armpits, but other than that I'm pleased with how it is looking:

Thank you everyone for the compliments. I have just gotten into the habit of thinking of myself as "in the process of growing my hair out" and feeling like my hair was in a looonnnggg transition, then yesterday I think I finally thought, "yeah, now i have long hair".

For the first time in my life. This is the longest my hair has ever been!

The color is in the last two photos is unoxidized fresh henna. Wish it looked that way all the time, but alas, it does become a more mundane auburn. However, I have never regretted becoming a henna head. Now my hair is a stable color.

In the first photo, I was using conventional hair dyes, and the red faded so badly that most of the time it didn't look red. It also lightened my hair despite not having any peroxide in it, and I'm still dealing with some of those damaged ends.

But when I get my hair trimmed i have my stylist shape my brows by waxing (this is maybe once every 4 mos) , then I pluck in between to maintain the shape.

I don't dye or henna them but I do always wear eyebrow makeup. (Along with mascara, eyebrow makeup is one thing I will hardly leave the house without, it makes a big difference!) They are very pale, blonde practically, without makeup.

I use Ardell brow-defining powder in mink brown. My mom gave it to me but I'm pretty sure they sell it at Sally Beauty. It is near the false eyelash stuff in my local store.

I have hennaed my brows before but they are so pale naturally (paler than my natural hair color) that they turn ORANGE!! And the turnover rate for eyebrows is very fast, so it doesn't last even between monthly touchups. So the makeup is the best thing.
