View Full Version : Wanting a few short pieces... help? *PICS*

Hey everyone! Lately, my hair has been about waist length, U shaped, and the bottom half is bleach blond highlights I've been growing out for two years. This is what my hair has been looking like:

In the past few months or so I've noticed that I can't part my hair to the side without having to pin up the front pieces on the heavier side. The front pieces are so heavy that if I side part my hair, the pieces will just fall in front of my face and require constant tucking behind my ears. I don't mind center parts, but I like side parts and having options! Examples:

I need to go in to the salon for a small trim soon (stupid split ends) and I was thinking about getting a few face framing layers in the front (but keep the rest long and layer free). What does LHC think? Do you have any photos or ideas?

I was thinking of possibly bringing in this photo (very 90's, I know) to explain the shorter front pieces I want.

Some pieces around my chin and then a few longer pieces to layer down to my regular waist-length. I don't think that this photo is a perfect example however, since I believe it's going to look different with longer hair.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

*edit- just noticed I chose a pic where her hair is in her face anyway! Hehe, hope you all understand what I mean despite that ^.^

This sounds pretty :)

I had this done a few years back and had hair very similar to yours.

I would really stress the importance of going to a hardresser who can take instruction as the one I went to got scissor happy and took about 4 inches off the back of my hair without permission telling me "she had to do it so that the hair was uniform instead of looking like two styles" so if youre getting a split end trim too id be very very specific about the ammount you are willing to let them cut. Keep looking in the mirror all the time to see the back. Mine seemed to see my waist length hair as a canvas to take me to a BSL version of "the rachel".

I wasnt very happy at all as she really decreased my pony circumference ALOT and to this day (about 4 years later) im still growing out the layers and my hair has never sat right since!

Also make sure they dont do it with a razor as it weakens the hair shaft. Some hairdressers say the way to achive this look is through a razor cut as it give the hair the "flippy" look, so be very firm!

Good luck :)

Very pretty. I have that pic (one of 4) in my purse that I want to show to the beautician when I get my nerve up.

With your face shape- perfect! You will be able to part your hair in every side you want without having a hair curtain on your face and it will also look great with a center part. Bringing a photo to the salon is always helpful, since hairdressers like to have their own visions:D
We are waiting for the "after" pics:)
