...her dolls are already at Target and I took some pictures, thinking of this forum and the talk about the movie Tangled, though it just said Rapunzel on the boxes. Sorry for the small pictures, they were taken with my phone.

Her hair does go past floor length. The green mass behind her is a stand that she stands on and the little critters holding her hair attach to it. Then after threading her hair through their hands, you crank a lever and they braid her hair for her, and it looks like a typical English braid and not a rope braid as other auto-braiders for dolls have done in the past.

This mini doll has her hair wrapped around a cardboard tower and is probably at least 3x her height as the length.

I feel like having hair that long could become highly unsanitary, but bless the women who can care for a head of hair like hers!

Cuuuute!! Thanks so much for posting those pictures Little Orca!! It would be so much fun to have a doll with that much hair.
And I think it's interesting how much Disney has been marketing products for movies that haven't been release yet lately.

When I have the money, I so want to go back and get the little doll, lol. She can sit on the shelf next to my other "Fashion dolls" still in their boxes that I collected, like Princess of Ireland Barbie.

So cute! And I love the hair style too but why are all renditions of Rapunzel blonde? Disney needs a brown haired Rapunzel too! :)

So cute! And I love the hair style too but why are all renditions of Rapunzel blonde? Disney needs a brown haired Rapunzel too! :)

She is always depicted as blonde or blondish because that is what she had in the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm:

Rapunzel had beautiful long hair that shone like gold. When she heard the voice of the witch she would undo the fastening of the upper window, unbind the plaits of her hair, and let it down twenty ells below, and the witch would climb up by it.

Oh, and one ell is about:

Flemish ell = 27 in (0.685 8 m) = outstretched hand to near shoulder,
English ell = 45 in (1.143 m) = outstretched hand to opposite shoulder,
French ell = 54 in (1.371 6 m) = outstretched hand to opposite elbow.

So, if we estimate that Rapunzel's hair was twenty ells, for the sake of easy math and not factoring in possible height and yadda yadda, her hair would fall between 45 - 90 feet if you use the units above. Phew!

I find it weird that the dolls are out before the movie! I would think that the kids who would want one, would do so because they liked the film. But I'm not a parent, so maybe I'm underestimating pester power.

The dolls are cute. I like the mini doll best.

I wonder how long it'll take one of those to become a giant rat's nest with some kid. :p It kind of reminds me of Lady Lovely Locks or the Totally Hair Barbies I still have.

I found more stuff at Target today I just could not pass up taking pictures of. Presenting... Rapunzel Extensions for kids!

https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/myalbum/photos/photo03/80/66/c6e8c366cb53__1282587370000.jpeg

So it says it's a wig, but from the look of it in the box it looked like extensions, but don't worry! If you really want extensions for kids, or at least their dolls, check out this toy:

https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/myalbum/photos/photo24/ec/27/2b3e78d1b6e6__1282587561000.jpeg

https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/myalbum/photos/photo13/f7/ce/02b9070c37b1__1282587605000.jpeg
The extension starts at the yellow clip. I would hope then that if she doesn't keep her miles of hair that this means she will at least keep it floor length.

They also have a Rapunzel doll who's hair grows when you pull it, at least one braid does, and one who's hair changes colors. I understand it's for marketing, but unless her hair turns pink in the film I don't think it should have been done.

Oh how cute they are! If those will be sold here I'm definitely going to buy one to my kid sister. I had a Rapunzel-barbie when I was a kid but her hair was such a mess. It was that type wich is immediately full of tangles, but luckily nowadays barbie hair isn't like that anymore.

Haha...the pleading has begun in our house just from seeing your pics! It is funny that just a couple of months ago, dd5 asked me why her Barbie doesn't have long hair (she has normal-length hair for Barbie, but to dd with tb-length hair, that isn't "long"! LOL) So....now we can get her a doll with "long hair"....

Thanks for sharing!

My daughter and I just got one of the dolls yesterday. We agreed to share! lol She does have very high quality synthetic hair. Brushes easily without turning into a big matted mess. Very similar to the my little ponies from a few years ago (before their last makeover). I have had so much fun braiding her hair! My daughter has hardly let go of her and I am under strict orders to "take good care of her" while she is at school.

When I was sounger I always tried to give my barbies mohawks by cutting their hair and shaving the rest except for a strip with my mom's leg razor. Then used candle wax to make it stick straight up.
Of course, I ruined the razor, waxed the carpet and my clothes too and on occasion melted a head.

This doll in my childhood probably wouldn't have made much difference to me :) but she is very very lovely and though not really suitable for a rambunctious child. Beautiful all the same

This reminds me of something slightly less destructive my best friend and I used to do. Her mom preempted us burning down the house by allowing us to wet down the barbies hairs, and then sticking them in the freezer. So we could 'style' all of the dolls at once we'd pop off their heads so they'd all fit. It was nice when it was cold out because their styles wouldn't melt as quickly.

Also, the dolls are really adorable. Dolls with color change hair have always fascinated me.

:spitting:I didn't do that although I did cut one of least favorite barbie doll's hair to be really short.. kind of like a pixie cut. Then, since I decided it didn't look good and was unruly, I used to pretend she was the "crazy aunt" who did lots of things that didn't make any sense.. like wearing clothes upside down, etc. I had a natural preference for my longer haired dolls. :p

I loved playing with my barbies' hair when I was younger. It was great for practicing French and Dutch braiding. I used to colour their hair too. Watercolours are remarkably permanent on barbies.

And now I know what I'll be doing this weekend: trying to find a place that sells that Rapunzel doll. And then turn her into a redhead. :D

So in true Disney fashion, dolls are not enough for their new movie. Check out all the rest of the stuff that I found both at Toy R Us and the Disney Store (I was killing time after I visited my mom in the hospital near by. She is fine, btw.) :

Disney Store:

https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/myalbum/photos/photo35/8e/3f/387c9ec4c65f__1284119963000.jpeg
The dress. This was being sold as a Halloween costume, but there were no Rapunzel wigs for sale at the Disney Store.

Hm, if we take the lowest number: 45 feet and assume she’s 20 years old and never had a trim and didn’t have that babyhair that falls out…

Damn cant calculate that in imperial

Alright 13,72 meters then… Her hair would have to grow 5,7 cm per month! (2,24 inches)

Lets say she has a normal growth rate of 2 cm per month, then it would take her 57 years (and a month) to grow to 13,72 meters and she could never shed!

She is always depicted as blonde or blondish because that is what she had in the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm:

Oh, and one ell is about:

Flemish ell = 27 in (0.685 8 m) = outstretched hand to near shoulder,

I would have loved to have had a doll with that much hair as a kid. I used to braid, cut, and color my barbie's hair with markers... or at least attempted to.
I wonder if they are going to release a version for all the Disney princesses in the "Forever Hair" line. I would love a Princess Tiana doll with long hair.

And finally, according to this package, Belle and Ariel are joining the LHC with Rapunzel! (lol) They are coming out with longer haired versions of those dolls in a new toy line called "Forever Hair."

*squeeeeee* You mean I can get another Ariel doll with floor length hair!?! I'm soooo excited.. definately asking for this for Christmas. I know my sister will be nice enough to buy her for me. ^^
