I came across this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crQtB285riU and decided to try it. The girl calls the video "How I scrunch my hair," but I wouldn't really call it scrunching, as it gives actual curls...

I really really like the results. :) It was easy to sleep in, and relatively quick to do. Now I did do it on soaking wet hair, instead of just damp hair as instructed, so it was still damp when I took the twists out this morning. I scrunched with a tiny bit of FSG and diffused until mostly dry. Next time I will do the twisting on just barely damp hair and see what it does. This one's a keeper! :D
I made little buns behind my ears with the leftover hair (mine is APL), and if you tried this with longer hair you might not be able to comfortably sleep with the buns behind your ears. But I think you might be able to twist the leftover hair and sort of cross it back and forth behind your head, or maybe do a rope braid in back.
