View Full Version : My final flirtation with vivid colour!

I'm starting my nursing degree next month, so I won't be able to dye my hair vivid colours for the next 3 years, possibly longer. So seeing as this is my final month of colour freedom, I've decided to have one last flirtation.

I used La Riche Directions in Poppy Red and Tulip. I was aiming for a vivid red colour, though used Tulip which is slightly pink in hopes to counteract the orange of the henna. Anyway, it turned out a vivid dark pink instead. I'm not fussed, I love pink or red!

Here's my hair before, colour from henna.

And here's my hair after :D Excuse the awful photos, just got a new phone which I'm still getting used to the camera settings. Plus the UK has no sunlight at the moment, we seem to be in constant gloom!

I imagine it'll fade to a more muted colour when I start, I'm just happy to be a shade of pink one last time. Then I'll be sticking to just henna for colour to keep within a natural spectrum.

Wow that is gorgeous! Funny, it's pink ,but doesn't look overly unnatural :) Did you lighten the henna any before applying the dye?

BelleBot

Nope, just used the pink/red straight over the henna. No lightening at all. Not worth damaging it, I'm happier with darker colours. :)

You carry off the pink color extremely well! :D Love it!

I'm another one who thinks this looks close enough to a natural color that you could have grown it. It suits you so well. Perhaps it will look close enough to your fun colors that the henna will merely enahnce it rather than completely toning it down. We can always hope! Thanks for sharing your fun with us, Belle. I always enjoy seeing your colors!

That is exactly the color I want, but I would have to lighten my hair to get it. It looks great on you.

That's a fabulous colour - and it isn't unnatural looking, just a more vivid red.

Haha, maybe it's because I'm wearing a Superman t-shirt underneath all the hair! :p

I did it all by myself, no help. I just get annoyed when other people try and do things with my hair. I just covered my bathroom in red towels in case I made a mess so I wouldn't stain anything. :)

Pinky reds seem to be the best colour for balancing out my olive skin. Some can colours just make me look far too yellow, but pink somehow seems to work fantastically and I even get mistaken for having an "English rose" complexion which is nice.

How many tubs did you have to use on your hair?

Very pretty; it looks to me as natural as henna does.

That's such a beautiful color, and I agree with those who have said it doesn't look unnatural on you at all.

I wish I could get my entire length to come out like that. It looks to be about the same color as the last foot or so of my hair, which unfortunately takes about ten layers of henna and Manic Panic to achieve on my hair.

Thanks for the comments guys :) I used just under two tubs, one of each colour to do all my hair. I have a little bit left of both so I can perhaps do a cheeky gloss in the future over the holidays perhaps.

I agree about the lack of sunshine in the UK, it's all rain at the minute as usual.

I personally think that this should be allowed in a hospital setting, it's not like it's a rainbow striped mohawk!

I am impressed. The colour itself is great and as your complexion is so pale, it looks STUNNING on your hair. If only I were brave enough to colour my hair, it would be something like this.

Woah, I love this! It looks just subtle enough that you may be able to keep doing it once you get your degree, in my opinion!
