I've never heard of Karthika, but I have used Meera Hairwash Powder. It worked okay, but left my hair dry. On the list we checked it out and found that it is mostly an SLS derivative, so I pitched mine. Heenara Hairwash Powder is just Indian herbs, and it works great. I add some Methi (fenugreek powder) to avoid dryness.

What would it helpful for? It sounds like an Indian spice.

its a shampoo actually. it is in powder form and you have to mix in water to get it to work. it is supposed to have a lot of herbs in it but, deborah says it is mostly sls.

I had a can of the Meera. On it the first ingredient listed is SODIUM DODECYL SULFATE. When I looked that up I found that it is just about the same thing as SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE. You might like it, but just be aware that it is mostly this SLS relative, plus the Indian Herbs. Heenara is JUST Indian Herbs, with no soap or detergent included.

I tried the meera wash today. It doesn't foam up as much as SLS or even SLS-free shampoos do... even though there are suds. Maybe the SLS is minimal? I remember arthia foams up a bit too. I haven't tried the other herbal washes to compare how they foam. It definitely has a heavy herbaly scent that still lingers after drying, and I can even smell it on my nails... hope people don't wonder what the herbal scent is since it's a little different than what usual shampoo smells like, although I really like the scent.

So far it left my hair soft, so far so good. I want to try the heenra wash next

I notice Deborah mentions the sulphate is the first ingredient listed. This means that proportionately it is the ingredient with the largest volume in a product.
This would put me off of a herbal hair wash personally.

The Heenara hair wash i find excellent with a beautiful scent to it. It cleans nicely and causes minimal shedding with continued use.

ETA- i should have looked before posting but i googled the product and got this page
http://www.cavinkare.com/karthikapowder.html?reload
As a side note i got serious braid envy! Anyway....on the same site i got their Meera description
http://www.cavinkare.com/meerapowder.html?reload

Here is a quote from the Meera page of that site "The Powder is made from natural ingredients which nurture and protect the hair making it soft and healthy. Meera powder is a blend of flowers and herbs such as shikakai, green gram, tulsi, vetiver and reetha which cleanse the hair, leaving it fresh and shiny. The powder also contains Hibiscus and Fenugreek which act as deep conditioners and strengthen each strand of hair from the root to the tip. Meera Herbal Hairwash Powder promises its consumers ”Healthy Hair for Years”."

To me this reads as deceptive as we know this product contains a sulphate as the first ingredient yet the description indicates that it is completely natural using just herbs.
For me this would indicate that especially as there are no ingredient listings that i can find we do not know which synthetic chemicals might have been added to the Karthika hairwash given the lack of honest in the Meera description.

If you want a preformulated hair wash with good ingredients i'd stick with the Hesh Heenara.

Yep. I agree completely.
