See post 56 for the Fade Report!
I've been itching for months to do something new with my hair... so this weekend, I finally took the plunge and did what I've been wanting to do for years. I became a redhead! And I love it! Here's my original hair color:
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=5405&pictureid=78316

And here's the red!
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=5405&pictureid=78317

SHAZAM, right?

And here it is in a cinnabun:
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=5405&pictureid=78318

The really RED parts are my old blonde highlights. The majority of my hair is now a deep burgundy/wine color. I love it!

Thank you everyone! It's only Manic Panic, so it will gradually fade... but for now, I love it! I needed a change, and this was just what the doctor ordered.

I LOVE your new red color! The wine/burgundy shade looks so much more healthy and shinier than the haircolor you had before. You made a wonderful new color choice. :flower:

tcheney91
August 1st, 2010, 06:44 PM
I didn't realize that it was shinier! It totally is. I think it's because that first color shot was because I had hiked 4 miles with it in a braid and it needed to be washed... haha. But the red is definitely shiny. And it's a lot softer now, too!

Thank you everyone. It was Vampire Red by Manic Panic, about a bottle and a half. My mom helped me, and did a really good job. Even so, I managed to dye my fingernails, toenails and ears all pink. Whoops. The tub is a mess, too.

Wowzer! I love it! You know, if I could get the exact same shade as Sharon Osbourne, I'd consider it. Enjoy!

D: The picture isn't showing up for me! Under the text there's just...nothing, not even red x's.

I really want to see your hair ;_; Vampire Red is a great color, and I'm sure it looks gorgeous on you!

WHOA. That's a change! It looks great! Makes me want to go out and do the same, considering it's temporary. Too bad I have interviews this week...

Anyway, way to do something different and exciting!

That's totally fine! I really like my natural color, too. I just needed a change. I chose a semi-perm so it can fade back to my natural color.

And sorry you can't see them... I think it's because you don't have enough posts, and they are linked from my album. Sorry!

Yeah, I hope it doesn't turn too pink as it fades... I had pink hair once. Not the best look for me...

How fun! I love the bun with the deeper red and the bright, almost hot pink tones peeking out. It's a pretty unique look too- most people who dye their hair bright colors like that have short hair, it seems. Anyway, it's gorgeous!

It is really pretty and looks great. Your natural color was lovely also.
I am so curious how the color will fade, please don't forget to update us as it washes out !! I want to know if it has a "pink" stage or not :)

August 1st, 2010, 09:20 PM
Thank you all again! I'm quite glad I kept my blonde streaks for this. It makes for great variation! And yes, I will definitely keep you updated on the fade. I'm curious, too. I really hope it doesn't go too pink...

Oh wow, that's awesome. :D
I really should dye my hair bright again, I've just couldn't decide whether to go for red or pink. Now I'm thinking red. :p I like to alternate bright temporary colours with henna.

The blonde highlights really help to add dimension, that's a fantastic result. Let us know how it fades.

Yep, I chose MP for that reason! I do really enjoy my natural color (it doesn't really shine, it kind of shimmers), but I needed a change! I'm glad everyone likes it. Funny thing, I sweat pink!

I have read that these colors last longer if you rinse them out with vinegar-water before regular water. I'm going to give that a try next time I apply the Punky Red-Rose color that I have left (1/2 jar) from Easter when I gave in to my desire for fantasy color (results in a photo album if you're interested).

That is one gorgeous colour! Maybe I'll have to try red the next time I dye my hair. :D Although mine never seem to get that intense or last as long though. :p

I've looked at those pictures, and the results were stunning! Definitely keep me updated if you try the vinegar rinse. I still have about 3/4 of a bottle of color left... I'm not sure what to do with it. Maybe dye my dog?

I put mine in the refrigerator and will use it again. I figure that everything lasts longer if you keep it refrigerated.

wow, that was extreme... yeah, fading is the worst part... my hair looked dry and really cheap coloured after 3-4 weeks, thank god it's over. I don't even know why would I repeat the experience (but I did)
I first thought that was permanent colouring. are you happy it's not permanent or you wish you coloured it for good?
