To celebrate having enough privilages to see images now, here are a few pictures of my first ever sock bun and a few bonus pictures of just some hairstyles I found on my PC that I took a while ago.

Sigh why did I cut :(

Im not very good with tech so if they dont show up maybe someone will have to explain photobucket and linking the URL to me :p

You need to use just the photo's direct link in conjunction with the "insert image" button here, or else just copy the IMG link that photobucket provides.

Here is your pic:

Hey, that's a great looking sock bun!

I don't know much about photobucket or if they provide you with the image url without having to look for it. For those of you who like details, here are some detailed instructions on how to add an image/pictures into your post that is hosted elsewhere or in your album:

If you right click on your image (not the thumbnail view) on a photo hosting site, a window will come up that has a list of the basic things like "copy", "send, etc. At the bottom you should see something that says "properties". Click on it.

The new window should have the url for just the image itself that starts with "http://" and it should be pretty long. Copy that.

When you go to post, there will me an "insert image" button that looks like a picture. Click on it and a little window will come up asking for the url and most likely say "http://" in the window. Paste the one you copied over that and hit okay.

Now you should see that url in your post with some kind of IMG coding on either side of it. That's where your picture will be. You can move that if you want it in a different area of your post.

I hope this helps. :D

LouLaLa - your bun is really pretty! What is the pearly piece around it? A headband or combs? The random hair pin isn't even noticeable! I was staring at your pic for a good 3 minutes and never noticed it. Did you roll it Loepsie's way?

If you need help with pictures, look at site happenings, site support, and the test board. There are all kinds of questions and answers. And the test board is quite fun to play around on when testing links and pictures. I highly recommend Gumball's instructions on how to make a small picture click to a larger picture! I"ll find where it is and add it in a sec.

Indeed I did do it Loepsies way, I was very pleased with the results!

I thought it might just be easier to upload another picture of the sock I used and the hair comb
http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/xx289/LouLaLa_2010/WebCam_20100727_1755.jpg

I used a knee length sock which gave me a bigger result, I didnt use any pins or aything, I just put the bobby pin as a precaution as I went the gym (it held up well that little bun!)

I think the best tip with this is to keep on rolling a good few times, even after you think youve rolled enough, then you dont really need pins (but Ii do have straight hair naturally so others may need to adapt).

Your comb is pretty. I would have to have pins because my roll is so heavy it leans back. I will try rolling it tighter as you suggest. I was afraid of pulling too tight and giving myself a headache.

Part of the problem may be that my sock was covered in an old black knee-hi stocking making it more slippery than usual. I did that so it would be less noticeable if my hair didn't wrap evenly. But hubby bought some black tube socks recently so one might get lost in the dryer!

Try this thread for pictures: testing thumbnails.

LouLaLa, I took your advice and tried giving it an extra roll. It was stubborn. At least it isn't leaning back anymore. That extra roll made made a little bit of hair looser on the right side but it is barely noticeable. I have had it in a few hours with no pins or combs and it is still secure. It did sag a little but I don't think I put my pony up high enough.

I also took one of the newer tube socks and threw the older one away. It was too stretched out. That was part of my problem too.

Thanks for your help.

James -
Maybe you couldn't see pics because some are from LHC albums and you need a certain number of posts to see them depending on whether they are private or public. Pics hosted on another website like Photobucket or Flickr are visible to everyone, member or not.

Bluegrass Babe I was wondering if there is anything specifically youd like me to try doing? I think ill use some broaches and use hair flowers for one idea but if there is anything youd like to see to try on your significantly more lovely hair im open to suggestions :blossom:

LouLaLa -
Ha ha! Bigger, not better! Your's is much shinier.

I have some cheap plastic combs that could use dressing up. I have some barrettes (and seen some that I'd like to buy) but I really don't use barrettes much now. I was thinking of a way I could take off the pretty part and use it on a comb or pin that would be decoration only. I'd probably use a pin / stick more.

A lot of my problem before was the old sock was too stretched out and didn't grip my pony tight enough. Now when I try to give the final extra twist, I find that I'm pulling some of the hair loose from the bun. Maybe that will get better when I use the sock more. Any suggestions?
BTW, I slept comfortably on that bun, with a satin sleep cap, and it still looked good the next day!
