I mean- technically. Do you add water when you have the shampoo in your palms, or do you add water to the whole bottle when there is enough space?

I buy a small travel bottle (6 oz I think) and put half shampoo half water, and shake well. :)

I use a plastic bathroom drinking glass. I pour in a small amount of shampoo. Maybe a teaspoon or two and then add water and swirl around to mix it up. I make up enough for one use at a time.

I do this in a plastic jug :)

I keep an empty shampoo bottle. Put portion of shampoo into empty bottle, fill about half with water, shake well. Then pour contents over hair. This technique makes a great foam.

I use a hair-dye applicator bottle that I bought at the beauty supply store. I squirt a little shampoo in the bottom, and then add 2-4 oz. of water, and use this for one washing.
Unless you buy a shampoo that it concentrated and meant to be diluted, it's not a good idea to dilute a whole bunch at once and try to keep it, since you will dilute the preservatives and lessen their effectiveness. I have actually had shampoo go bad on me, so the preservatives are there for a reason.

I keep an empty shampoo bottle too, then I fill 1/6 of the bottle with shampoo (more or less depending on the brand, some can\need to be diluted more than others), and the rest with water. I use it for weeks, and I have never noticed it going bad.

I saved an empty shampoo bottle and make my shampoo solution with warm water each time I wash. I would hate mixing the main bottle of shampoo with water because the solution is runny, and it would get cold and unpleasant to use.

Normally in a plastic water bottle reserved specifically for this purpose. I add a little bit of shampoo to the bottle and fill it up to a quarter/half with lukewarm water while in the shower.
I don't like to keep old shampoo bottles since they give me the impression that I have more shampoo left than I actually do.

same here. But I rarely shampoo. I use "detergent" (aka Shampoo) only when my hair is really really greasy and/or dirty. A small bottle of shampoo lasts me an year or so.

I usually add water to the whole shampoo bottle, it isn't any harm really! I just make sure a whole ton of it is applied to my scalp, and not on the bathroom floor! :p

I use old dishwashing soap bottles. They're always shaped so they're easy to hold, and the spout thingy is always easy to use.
For every ounce of shampoo, I put in 7 ounces of water. I've been thinking of diluting mine even further, but keep forgetting.
I use just a few squirts of the dilute shampoo right on my scalp, then work the lather through my hair. Doesn't take much, so my shampoo supply lasts a lot longer.

Like Madame J, I actually bought a tint bottle from a hair products shop (it was really cheap). I put a squirt of conditioner or shampoo in and then add water, and shake it up. The good thing is that the bottle has a long nozzle which means I can apply it just to my scalp. It works really well.

When I dilute shampoo, it seems to dry my hair more. I don't know what's wrong

Thank you for all your tricks:) I will start diluting my shampoo.
Naturel, I have no idea. Maybe you use too much shampoo, thought it's diluted?

I dilute in my palms - just add a teeny bit of shampoo, some water, and rub it around until it's foamy. Very similar to washing my hands, but rub it into my hair after. :)
