View Full Version : First day of CO and just henna'd my hair!

This weekend I went to the store and bought Suave Tropical Coconut conditioner, Herbal Essences Totally Twisted gel, and coconut oil, in preparation to go CO. I did my last sulfate shampoo, and my first CO wash this morning! Then I waited for that to mostly dry, and then I henna'd my hair for the first time. Fun. I was so excited by the results of both, my husband said I looked like a little kid on Christmas morning. :p

Here is my hair before, using non-sulfate shampoo, conditioner with cones (just found that out), and scrunched with a coney gel:

This is after clarifying with a sulfate shampoo, and doing a CO wash with Suave TC. I sprayed my hair with a Rose Water/Aloe Gel/Suave TC mixture that I made and scrunched it with my hands. It's still a little damp in this picture:

And this is after applying Henna Hut's Deep Red henna for 3 hours, and plopping with HE TT. Still quite damp:

I love the color, and I love the fact that I'm seeing actual ringlets forming in my hair, instead of the normal scrunched up S shapes I normally get. Very happy with the results of both the CO method and the henna. I'll be taking more pictures as the color oxidizes.

I couldn't figure out how to edit my post, but I got much better pictures of the henna color.

This is inside, after the hair was dry (sorry for the horrible lighting, the house is very dark inside):

And this is outside in direct sunlight:

I am in love with my hair! :crush:

Thanks everyone!

And Tiina, the curls are definitely much better, even after just one CO wash (or two, if you count washing the henna out with half a bottle of conditioner. lol). I will be keeping it up, I know there's a curly girl in there somewhere! :D

Hi Harriet!

Thanks! It is not "pure" henna, but everything that has been added in is a plant extract, so there is no metal/salt/etc that people talk of that can cause reactions.

Here are the ingredients:
86% Lawsonia Inermis (http://www.hennahut.com/ingredients)

5% Indigofera Tinctoria (http://www.hennahut.com/ingredients)

3% Red Kaolinite or Red Clay (http://www.hennahut.com/ingredients)

2% Eclipta Alba (http://www.hennahut.com/ingredients)

2% Centella Asiatica (http://www.hennahut.com/ingredients)

1% Triminalia Chebula (http://www.hennahut.com/ingredients)

1% Terminalia Bellirica Roxb. (http://www.hennahut.com/ingredients)

If you go to their website and look at the ingredient list, you can click on each ingredient and it will tell you what it is and where its from.

Hi Hana,

The first two photos in the first post are my starting hair color, but not my natural hair color. My natural color is a mousy/dark brown, and I have dyed it for years using Garnier Fructiss Intense Auburn. I loved the color it gave, but hated that it faded so quickly. I wanted something that wouldn't fade and would be healthy for my hair, so I chose henna! :)

Very beautiful color! :) I have used Henna Hut in the past and always loved my results...unfortunately it bled pretty badly and faded quickly to orange. I know others have had similar experiences. I hope yours will be different! Keep us posted!

EDIT: It's so late...I need sleep, lol! I just realized this thread is pretty old! Sorry!
