I'm at about the same place right now. I'd say you are just touching waist. Also looks like you're a bit sunburned. Ouch!

I wouldn't call it waist yet, the longest hairs are just touching, but the others don't really qualify for waist.

I'm gonna agree.... the very very tip is at waist, but other than that half-inch section of hair, the rest isn't there yet. But you're getting close!!!

(And, if you're a typical LHCer, you've already got aloe vera in the house to treat that sunburn!)

ETA -- for a better way to judge waist-or-not, take the photo with one or both hands on your hips, like you were going to encircle your waist with your fingers and thumbs. I learned to do that from the others here at LHC (you can see my left hand in my siggy picture).

The longest part is waist but the rest isn't. Very, very close. I'd call it beautiful either way!

I think you still need an inch or so but you're almost at waist. :)

I am apparently confused. I thought "waist" (or whatever length you're at) meant that your longest hairs are that length. ALL of your hair should be a specific length to be able to call it that??? Holy moly, I have layers all the way to APL (even though my longest hairs are almost waist) so my hair won't be "waist" for like 2 years! Should I be calling myself "APL"?

Not necessarily, Kristin... I just look at it like what the "average person" would call it. With such a deep V-shaped hem, the vast majority of the OP's hair isn't in the general vicinity of waist yet, and I don't think that most people when they see it would instantly think "waist length".

If someone had one single half-inch streak of red in their otherwise blonde hair, would you say that they are a redhead? Or would you call them a blonde with a red streak? In this case, the OP is at "mid-back with a streak of waist".

Does that make sense? I know in my head what I'm trying to say, but not sure it's coming across correctly...

GRU, that was a GREAT way to explain it !!!! That's how I think of it too. Before my trim yesterday my very longest hairs were at tailbone, but anyone looking at my would see hip length hair in reality. So I say hip. I had my trim and I am still at hip !
To the OP, I don't think you are at waist yet. I think you have an inch or two of growing to do first, but you are really close and it looks great :) congrats !!

My hair is similar to yours and I've been trimming the V shape so that I have a blunt line. Its taking me forever. I just cut it back to BSL so that it is all at bsl. Now I'm heading for waist with the entire length of my hair. It takes longer that way, but I want that blunt hemline at waist.:)

Pulled straight, wet, it probably is. Still, if I were you, I wouldn't feel like I was really *at* waist just yet.

Yes. Now I understand what you mean. Makes perfect sense.

I'll agree with the other posters, your longest bits are just brushing waist. Give it another month or two and you should be solidly there!

If (theoretically) you used a flat iron on it then it would definatly be waist. If you want to call it waist when unstreched then I think another inch and a half will do it! :)

What is waist? I know that's a stupid question, but is your waist where you measure narrowest or where you like your pants to be (when they aren't those maddening super-low ones)?

If I put my hands on my waist, they would be lower than where I am most narrow. But honestly, the difference between putting my hands on my waist and my hands on my hips is maybe 2 inches or so.

I'd say you are at "can I call this waist?" length, as denoted by the title of this thread :) About an inch to go, you're almost there! :cheer:
