It's Growing and I'm Shrinking! (wih Pics)

And now I have a pair of photos that really shows this to me. (Pictures are linked from my album, so some new members may not be able to see them yet. Sorry.)

Because of my damaged ends, started to measure my hair in terms of virgin hair growth rather than in actual length gained since my ends tend to break off and I dust them (and S&D them) from time to time. However, in the following pictures I can see that not only is my hair growing in terms of virgin hair, but length as well! Granted, I am sure the length is not as great as it could be, but I am too much of a chickens**t to trim it up right now so it grows more in a U rather than my fairytale ends.

You can see that there is growth in terms of the virgin hair at the top of my head compared to both photos but I can also see it in my ends! Granted, my fairytale ends tend to disappear even more when a flash in involved, but I am sure you can see how far they go down to.

Despite the fact I know that I break off hair due to past damage, I had always thought that I was approaching terminal length and was depressed, especially since my goal is floor, but the more I look at the pictures I have hope that my hair really will make it to my goal along with my shrinking waist!

Speaking of the waist, I am not sure as to what weight I was specifically at the August photo, but I do know that a year prior to that I was... *drum rolls* 321 pounds. That is my highest recorded weight! :( I am sure that it was more at other times in my life, around 2007, but I don't have the numbers to prove it. However, if you take just that number and subtract my current weight, I have lost about 55 pounds. I still have a lot more to go, but at least that is progress!

The virgin growth is coming along quite well, but since you said the ends are breaking off...maybe you should bit ethe bullet and trim? Damage like that doesn't always stay in one place, and you shouldn't have to lose that much.

You are doing a great job losing and gaining, and don't worry so much about losing bits of your damaged ends because that damage will only break off once, and then your ratio of undamaged to damage will shift a little more over to the healthy side :)

Yes my shedding issues have stopped. :) I am so happy about that. I have thought, many times, about biting the bullet and trimming my ends up a little bit, maybe an inch, but I am just so scared to do so. I almost feel if I cut it will never come back, lol. If I were to trim it to where I think it would do its best I would have to trim back to hips and that freaks me out. I think I will play in the mirror later and use a hair tie to see what my hair would be like with x amount missing, but I doubt that I will cut yet.

As I read this I actually felt proud! lol In the past when my roots started to show for more than a year I would get dye and attempt to dye all my hair my natural color so I didn't have to look at my roots. As you can tell by my golden color, that never worked. Somehow Henna + Brown dye (x 5) = golden hair.

I can definitely see that I am two-toned now when I look at pictures of my hair in sunlight, such as the one below with my fiancé. It just feels epic, lol.

Yup, I am wearing the same style of jeans, just one size smaller, as in the Aug 2009 pic and you can see how baggy they are. I tended to buy the same style over and over since I knew it looked good, but these jeans are out of the mix now and I can't really afford to get some new ones at the moment.
