Roots are dyed differantly to the length??

So..as some of you know I dyed my hair purple recently (over auburn coloured hair) all went well except it hasnt even touched my blonde roots....and they were lighter than my red hair!!
Now it dosent look to bad but I just looks like I havent dyed my hair for a while and looks really...unfinished.
Any Advice?

Were only your blond roots bleached?

My initial thought is that perhaps you're going to need a protein filler to get the color to stick to the blond sections. We'll see what the dye experts here have to say, though.

Temporary bright colored dyes like purple don't stick well to healthy or virgin hair. If blonde is your natural color, you would have to either bleach or dye your roots before doing the purple to get it to stick. A protein filter might work too. You can give that a try. They have them at Sally Beauty Supply if they have one near you.
