I was a bit bored this morning and decided to try something new with my hair. My intention was to do this (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=34), but since my coputer didn't work I couldn't quite remember the instructions and the 'do ended up looking a bit weird. So, I still had the three ponytails on my head so I thought I might as well do something with them, so while I was watching a film I made 7 tinier rope braids and then twisted them around the base, and got this quite sizeful bun that looked pretty good, in my opinion at least :D

That looks beautiful! I absolutely positively cannot get that rope braid thing down. They untwist themselves the second I let go.

Wow, that's really, really pretty! I can only get my rope braids so smooth if I oil them heavily before hand. That looks fantastic!

Swanns, that is FABULOUS! I love rope braids and hope someday I will be able to manage even a single one, and here you've done seven (seven!) and made them into something that looks like like a remarkably intricate rose bun! Wow! I am so impressed! Just beautiful!

Very pretty. I am going to try this style. I've used 2 rope braids, but never 3.
It makes your bun look bigger.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words! :cheer:

This (http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/braids/Twist.htm) site is where I learned to make rope braids, just in case someone's interested :)

I wore this style again today but with just 4 braids, which made it quite a bit smaller and more practical.

Spidermom: when you have the two strands, twist them around each other in the opposite directions you are doing them now. That should solve it :)

Am I the only one that can't see the photographs?
I want to get in on the action too!

PS: This happens alot sometimes in certain threads. I cannot see photographs posted by the thread maker :-(

Edit: Nevermind, I think I solved it. I logged in and they 'magically appeared'. Do you think that may have been the problem? I didn't know you can set thread photos to only appear to logged in members...

Anyway, I LOVE the rope braids! Very pretty. I wish I can get my rope braids down back like that. I get quickly confused during the rotating, even in mid braid! And then they start getting wonky, and I ask myself out loud 'Argh, which way was I turning again?!'.
I know. I am sad :-D

SHADOWSCODE46, I guess that's it - I linked this thread to a couple of friends but they couldn't see the picture. :)

Wow! That's lovely. :) I'll never get it to work for me though, as my complete rope braid is about as big as one of your little ones. :( If I made many of them they would look like strings!
