View Full Version : I had my hair cut!

I've only been an LHC member since November, and so was not super long by any means...but my two-toned hair was REALLY bugging me and my hair looked really straggly.

So...I had my hair cut. She cut off about 1.5 inches as I requested, and did some layers. I'm GLAD the curls are back, and the brassy ends are mostly gone.

Sorry if this is LHC heresy! I still do admire the beautiful heads of long hair I see here. Not sure where I'm going from here..if I'll grow it out more or what. I would love to have long, curly hair IF it looks good on me. Excuse the messiness.

I think long curly hair would look great on you. I'm glad you got your trim to clean up your ends. I've had the brassy thing before and I know why it needed to be removed. I think BSL or WL would be nice given the shape of our face and texture of your hair, in a nice U shape hem. APL is a good start. By the way, the layers worked out just fine.

Thanks, ladies! I'm hoping I can grow it longer and still have curls. Might have to keep some layers for that though. Oh well...hair continues to grow so nothing is permanent. Layers can be cut in or grown out.

I definitely think removing those ends was a good move from you! Love your color, it looks a ton better without the brassy ends. Your curls are pretty, very similar to mine actually and I call myself a pretty strong 3a, so I don't think you're a 2c anymore :)

Very pretty! That blunt cut looks great on you. I hope you stick around and grow it out just to see what it looks like anyways. You can always cut it again! :)

Wow! Your hair is just stunning. It really suits you. If you can keep the beautiful curls as you grow it longer, I think it would look lovely.

OMG what a stunning photograph! I just love your colour and curls!

I also thought to myself who do you remind me of and its Jeri Ryan (she played Seven of Nine on Star Trek Voyager):

Oh my gosh! You guys are SO nice. Thanks for all the supportive comments and compliments. And whoever said I look like Jeri Ryan, um, I don't agree. But thanks anyway. :p

I haven't decided about how long to go. As I said, once I got to almost APL it was looking really straggly, and the curl was drooping out of it. I have to encourage my curl, scrunch it when it's wet, or else it's just wavy. It's harder to get it that curly at APL. For now...I'll be growing and see where it takes me.

Happy growing, everyone!

I agree-- what lovely curls! I'm sure it'll look great at this length, or super-long, or any length you choose to wear it.

If you keep layers in it, you should be able to keep your curls as it grows. The weight will keep the curls out of the top part of the longer lengths, but the bottoms won't be dragged out.

The key will be finding a hairstylist who "gets" curly hair and can shape it to do what you want it to do.

From one Curly Girl to another, it looks great!

Thanks again, everyone! Yes, I really am 49. Just had my birthday last week.

GRU, thanks for the explanation about curly hair and layers. That makes sense.

Are you really 49 years old? I would have guessed you were in your thirties.

Great-looking hair, anyway! I like the color.

LOVE it! I had that exact same haircut a couple of years ago and I loved it then :) One day I think I will go back to it (but am growing for the next few years now). I know what you mean about the curls coming back at shorter lengths!

I bet it looks awesome with a cute headband too :D

Wow, thanks again, to everyone else who left comments. There are so many nice folks here.

Peter, yes, I am truly 49. I have a 26 yo daughter. When my mother died at age 80 she looked like she was about 65 maybe. I do have a few wrinkles starting...

Rini, you are one of the henna redheads on H4H that I really admired! I wanted those red waves and am still contemplating it. I love your blonde, too.

Yes, headbands are fun. I am thinking of making a few in some pretty prints.

Your hair still looks nice. Like your curls. You defiantly dont look 49. Would have never gessed. Would have guessed about thirties.
