View Full Version : Help! My mother is feeding my product addiction

Friday, my mom peeks her head into my bathroom and notes the slew of products around my tub. I go away and come back from a trip on Sunday and there are 3 full bottles of 3 kinds of the "old" pantene conditioners sitting on my bathroom counter, a present from her. MOM!!!
The kinds were (I think) the "Smooth," "Volume," and "Full & Thick." I think she chose them because she hears me complain about thinning and tangly hair. And I'm pretty sure she got them on sale due to the "new" pantene.
Now, she doesn't know that I don't think my hair likes Pantene (versus Suave) but I tried the Full & Thick one this morning. I will note that I do feel more volume, but my curl is completely gone.
I know there are plenty of threads reviewing pantene, but the old pantenes are going away so I'm not sure how helpful my review of them will be. Just thought I would share the 3 new additions to my conditioner family

Aw, that's sweet that your mom got those for you. :)
Sorry it's not helping your addiction though.

My mum does things like that...We were shopping together when I was picking up and looking at all these haircare products, checking the ingredients and I must have been lingering over a certain one because she ended up buying it for me. I didn't have the heart to tell her it had protein in and I couldn't use it...mums are great though aren't they :).

alwayssmiling- yess they are great but also not *completely* in our heads (no pun intended :p)
also, 3 bottles is a lot..my mom is more about quantity than quality, which is where we differ. :)

Your mom is very kind. :) I wish my mom were like her... I don't spend much on haircare products (I used to, though) but she complains a lot about it... My younger sister spends about twice as much as I do and she has only waist-length hair.

I wonder if they have Hair-Anon meetings for our hair-enabling relatives like they have Al-Anon meetings for the families of alcoholics???

Haha I wonder!
Loreley, my mom also is concerned about how much I spend ($10 shampoo??) but she can't pass up a sale, even if 3 sale conditioners cost the same amount as one really great conditioner. But hey, not my money ;)

Does she not know that you no longer wish to use Panteen?
Maybe you could comment that you just are not liking how Panteen is making your hair feel lately?
(In a nice way)

I might give them to her, because she has a thing about "volume" now that she is getting older and losing her hair. I always do this with her if there are products I don't like; for example, I am allergic to eye makeup, so I gave her all my mascaras.
...I hope she likes Pantene!
I also steal her conditioners, and I am MUCH happer with her Suave Professionals Volumizing conditioner. :)
