Does anyone have advice on how I can find a local salon that will do a *fabulous* ;) job on taking me from a brunette to a blonde?

I don't know anyone local to ask.

TIA!

My first thought would be an Aveda salon. The Aveda site has a salon locater. I think Aveda color is fabulous.

Found a couple! The websites put me at ease... next I'll go and see if the salons themselves do as well. :eyebrows:

Thank you so much!

Ooooooo how exciting! Are you going to go totally blonde, or just gorgeous highlights???

Thank you!

I want to go totally blonde! ;) I don't actually think it will look all that good, but it is the only color that I haven't tried yet... so now is the time while my hair is short and I'm not trying to grow it.

The only problems:
1) I'd want it done before classes start on Monday
2) I'd feel much more comfortable spending the $$ if I knew I had the full-time position in the Fall!

I'm going to call the salons this morning...

Brilliant! I've always secretly dreamed about being more courageous with my hair colour, so I just love the notion of trying out all different colours at least once.

I hope you'll find yourself a truly gorgeous blonde - and if there are any funny stories about differing male / female perceptions of you depending on hair colour, please share!!!

Greetings

I had my consultation today, though I don't know if the woman was a jr/sr/master colorist. I felt quite comfortable with her suggestions and apparent knowledge though, so I'll stick with her regardless of her level. (Hopefully, that's not a mistake. :suspect:)

I have my appointment on Thursday at noon!!!

:wethree: :scared: :wethree:

We're doing all over color the first time, followed by foils for high/low lights or whatever you call them. I figured I might as well go all out. Touch-ups will work their way towards just foils to blend in with my color eventually... so eventually I'll just have heavy highlights. Seems like a plan, anyway.

Course, if you decide you dislike the blonde after all, you can get a little crazy and slap some manic panic or the like on it and get colors like pink or green or such. ;)

Sorry - no before photo, but, without further, ado:

It doesn't show the color quite right (on my screen) but what the heck.

I'm going to spend a couple of days going "but it's so weird" before I can tell what I really think about it!

justgreen, are you a Firefly fan? You used gorram. Nobody but my husband and I use gorram as far as we know.

Thank you! Now, the question is (since someone joked about it in my blog)... should I change my avatar to blonde too?

I think it looks great. I hope you like your color and liked the experience since I recommended Aveda to you. Did you get some nice smelling products to go with your new color? I'm in love with Aveda scents.

I got the color protecting (UV) conditioner, with some neutral blond & violet added. I haven't tried it yet though.

I did have a good experience! I think she was a bit rough on my hair a couple of times (rubbing with towel to dry and when detangling after that), but nothing too untoward. She's a senior specialist (or whatever they're called), and she had also discussed my "case" (between my consult on Tues and my appt on Thurs) with two other specialists who had been at Aveda longer than she had. I was impressed. :agree:

Thank you so much for the suggestion!
