Not for me, obviously :p

My boyfriend's hair is in desperate need of a trim. It's splitting and breaking off like nobody's business, but unfortunately we're too broke for a professional trim. He says that anyone who has cut his hair well has brushed it out of the curls first, but I seem to remember the advice for cutting curls is absolutely do not brush it out.

He's growing his hair long (longer...it's quite aways past his shoulders when it's stretched out), so I don't want to screw it up. If it wasn't that it's breaking off so fast, I wouldn't even considering trimming curly textured hair

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I may be able to take a recent picture later to give a better idea of his hair type. For replies, it may be awhile before I can get on because it's finals and I don't have internet at home, but I will respond :) Thanks in advance, everyone!

The average male haircut/trim shouldn't cost more than 12 dollars.
I'm convinced that haircutting scissors sold at Sally's Beauty Supply cost more.
(Don't even think about touching his hair with ordinary ones)
Sparing 10 dollars or less at a barbershop isn't much.
(Other than that, I'm clueless on cutting curly hair)
