I know there have been a few threads talking about the new Pantene line and when it will be available near them, but seeing as it has been out in the US and Canada for a little while now, it might be good to talk about how people are liking/disliking it.
I just picked up a few of the Pantene for curly hair products. I can't really give a full review yet, since I just conditioned my hair and threw it in a bun. But tomorrow when I actually style my hair for work I will post some thoughts.
My initial impressions are mixed. Pantene changed the scent. This stinks for me because I LOVED the old Pantene smell, but from what I have read online a lot of people prefer the new smell to the old one. It is more fruity and less perfumey.
The new curly hair line doesn't have a curl cream, which is surprising/disappointing. They do have a cream that is supposed to prep your hair for straightening, so I got that and will try it tomorrow as a curl cream.
Anyone else tried Pantene's new stuff? What did you think of them?

Haven't, but want to. Have to use the stuff I have first.:o

I saw it at the store and I was very tempted to try it, but I really want to try out a natural shampoo first (because I haven't tried any type of natural shampoo before) and if that doesn't work then I will definitely try the new stuff!

I gave up Pantene for Suave Naturals and never looked back. So much more affordable!

Good luck with the natural stuff! If you end up trying Pantene, let us know how it goes :)

I hear that! Pantene is not cheap. I try to get it at Wal Mart, when its on sale, and with a coupon! That makes it pretty affordable for me.

I tried the dry hair shampoo and breakage conditioner for fine hair. They left my hair with alot of slip, but not much different than when I used other Pantene products. After a few uses it builds up and doesn't give the same slip and softness, so I save it to use in the future.
I don't really like the smell of the new line, as someone else said, it smells like Febreeze. normally I like strong scented shampoos (like Herbal Essences, older Pantenes) but I'm not liking the scent of this...it smells like laundry detergent to me.

I received a sample in the mail of the Pantene volume shampoo and conditioner...I did not like either one. Made my hair feel like straw. So, I went back to Suave Naturals, and VO5.

Has Pantene done away with all of the older products? Like the Ice Shine line?

I think so. As far as I can tell, almost all the old products are gone and replaced with new ones. The only old ones that are still around are Classic Care and Nature Fusions.

I tried the pantene medium/thick frizzy to smooth conditioner and I could honestly take it or leave it, which means leave it. Would not recommend when there are so many better products. Not impressed.
And for people who thought beautiful lengths was being discontinued, it was repackaged?

So I styled my hair this morning, and it is about 90% dry now. I have to say I am pretty impressed! My hair has good volume, definition, very little frizz. Not really an improvement over the old Pantene, but I think if the old one worked for you, the new one will too.

I might have posted in another thread about 'new' or 'old' Pantene, but I'll post my review here again anyway.
I bought it when it first came out in May. I got the 'Classic Care' one because I had used the old version of Pantene and liked it.
When I washed and conditioned my hair it felt A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!! My hair is fine and curly and prone to tangles. I usually comb it while a little wet with some coditioner in it. Using the new version of the Classic conditioner I was able to comb straight through from root to tip without a single snarl, snag or tangle. :agape:
Even though I hated the smell(like Febreeze to others and carpet shampoo to me), I was about to throw out all of my other hair products and go back to Pantene because I had used it for over a decade with no problems until they started changing the ingredients.
Then, my hair dried.
And it felt like straw coated in plastic. :shake:
No matter how much conditioner or oil put on it still felt really bad, so I had to wash it again and use something else.
I wrote to Pantene about my experience and they offered to send me a coupon to try something else for free. But I never took them up on it because as I said, I HATE the new scent so it's not worth it for me to even try.
I hope it works better for others though. :flower:

My hair is picky; I've tried CO & SLS-free, cone-free, JASON, Nature's Gate, you name it. My hair is happiest with Pantene 2-in-1 products (though it hates ANY kind of separate shampoo & conditioner no matter what). I know a LOT of people say that Pantene is terrible and horrible and makes their hair fall out, but my hair LOVES it. Different strokes for different folks, I guess... :)
I ran out of my Full & Thick 2-in-1, so I picked up a small bottle of the Medium/Thick Frizz to Smooth 2-in-1 (I think that's the only 2-in-1 they have for Medium/Thick). So far, I REALLY like it - the smell is different, but I can take or leave fragrance. This entire week, here in the Deep South, temps have been in the mid-upper 90s, but with afternoon storms, so it's been hot and REALLY humid.
So far, my hair has remained frizz-free, but not at all heavy or weighed down - years ago (before LHC), I would use gloss drops to keep my hair smooth and frizz-free, but eventually it would build up. After 2 weeks of using the new Pantene (I wash every other day), I am definitely happy with it.
My only complaint about Pantene right now is that they discontinued the Detangler/Light Conditioning Mist, which I LOVE. I have actually hoarded 8 bottles that I found on a B1G1 free sale at a local drugstore. I emailed Pantene and was informed that it is indeed discontinued, but they have THREE replacement detanglers: "New Anti-Breakage Detaingler in our Fine line, Silkening Detangler in our Medium-Thick line, or our Light Conditioning Detangler in our Curly line."
If anything changes long-term, I'll be sure to post.

I love, love, love (did I mention love?) the new Pantene. I used Pantene as my primary shampoo and conditioner for years and years. Then they changed the formula (prior to this time), and I couldn't tolerate the fragrance.
This time around, I believe that they got everything right. The fragrance is a light, slightly fruity/floral that reminds me of a whiff of honeysuckle on a summer breeze. It doesn't actually smell like honeysuckle -- it's more of a scent memory, if that makes any sense.
I've been using the moisturizing formula for fine hair, both the shampoo and the conditioner. They make my hair look light, bright with natural highlights and super shiny. The tangles fall out and my hair feels like silk. What more could I want?

I have the medium/thick frizzy to smooth s+c and have tried both a couple of times. The shampoo is ok; I do like the conditioner quite a bit because it seems to help with frizz. I still have to use a heaping handful for it to really do much though, as I do with other conditioners.
I tried the detangling spray in the same line, but it might as well be water for all the detangling it did! My hair actually felt more tangled once it dried, after using it.

I just tried the new "fine hair dry to moisturized" line.
Horrible. It felt like I had sprayed my hair with hairspray. It was stiff, sticky and grippy.
I had clarified before I used these products.
Even my husband asked what happened.
I loved the old Pantene, especially Beautiful Lengths and Silver Expressions.
The Silver Expressions contained jasmine and smelled heavenly. Not to mention how silky and lovely it left your hair.
Why must they always change things?
I am going to return mine and I don't ever do that.
I just felt that Pantene needed to know just how bad the new line is.
If I had just looked online before purchasing I would have seen many people complaining about the new line.
Pantene may have to bring the old products back or lose many customers.
Most companies don't like to admit to making a mistake so i'm not going to hold my breath.
Also the Beautiful Lengths line is still out there but I think they've changed it.
Sad really because when my hair was dry, nothing made it soft and silky like Pantene.
I sent for a free sample of the new Dove line. Hopefully they haven't ruined their product also.

Pantene has always worked for me, it's one of my go tos. I'm currently using the med/thick frizzy to smooth conditioner. I like it a lot. (I co nightly, wash 2x a week). Using Dove moisture therapy (?) poo.
I tried the new curly shampoo formula also (sample bottle) and that was wonderful. Can't seem to find it in stores yet though.

I used to love the 5 minute strengthening mask. Now this is gone too. I have tried the new mask in the pink tub. I think it is beautiful lenghts. I hate it. My hair feels like plastic. The weird thing is my daughter has long blonde hair and it does wonders for her hair. The tangles fall out like magic and her hair stays silky. Too bad it didn't do the same for me.

I was pretty biased against the new lines b/c I'd been a diehard Ice Shine fan. However, I must say I've been using the Medium-Thick "Breakage to Strength" and I really like it. My hair remains shiny & soft as before, but doesn't get oily as quickly, and also seems to have a bit more volume & body. I was actually struggling to get the last loop of my elastic over my ponytail this morning!

I have the new moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for fine hair. I love the way it performs. But the fragrance gets to me after a while. It's a bit too perfume-y. I do believe that it works as well as the previous incarnations, and I've used Pantene on and off for decades.

Ok, on the off chance that I would like it(because I used to L.O.V.E. Pantene and used it exclusively for over a decade) I bought the Pantene Med-Thick Smoothing Shampoo, Conditioner, and a leave-in that they have.
Well, the shampoo made me lose more hair than usual but that happens when I use shampoos or conditioners on my scalp that aren't clear or are too moisturizing.
The conditioner definitely made my hair slippery while in the shower and it smoothed down my hair and frizz out of the shower. It was more moisturizing than the 'Classic' Conditioner I've tried from the new line, but my hair felt drier as the day progressed.
The leave-in was quite coating but worked ok to cut down frizz.
Both the conditioner and leave-in conditioner(I've used them without each other) leave my hair feeling coated and my hair ended up dry towards the end of the day, but I like it early in the day. Also, once my hair felt drier my frizz would return with a vengeance and nothing could calm it back down.
Bottom line- they're ok if you don't have dry hair like me and want coated hair.
Like Neoma mentioned - the fragrance gets to me as well after a time and I would dread using them because all day(and sometimes the next day) every time I turned my head I could smell it. I don't mind perfumed hair products and would absolutely adore it if these new Pantene products smelled like the old Pantene products for days at a time. But I don't like the new fragrance. It's too heavy and sweet. And kinda powdery. It reminds me of Febreeze, carpet shampoo, fabric softener, etc. A chemical clean, overly perfumey and sweet fragrance.
Because of the fragrance I can't even use it up on the person I usually dump my abandoned hair products onto who can use anything - my son. It smells too girly and strong. I don't want(and he wouldn't want) anyone thinking he's wearing women's perfume.
