Celebrating 3 years as LHC member (and 4 years as a devoted grower).

In 2006, I took the first step towards long hair by simply letting go of cutting it in short awesome hairstyles and settled on one colour instead of five-six :) The decision was made after a rather ugly break-up of a long relationship. I was bored and wanting to change.

When I found LHC in Spring 2007, I lurked a couple of months before joining June 15.

Back then, the backside of my head looked something like this (I believe these are braid waves):

I dind't particular like my hair back then. The length was ok although I did want longer. Maine problem was (and somewhat is) that I'm a stick-straight slippery type of gal. Hard to do updos with that kind of hair (but I did learn to deal with it).


Let's fast forward to 2008, March (and bad-hairday pic):

Apparently 2008 was a good hairgrowing year for me. This is in September:

I hit tail bone in November 2009, my FIRST goal:

Now it is time for a slight disappointment, I'm afraid: I do not have an accurate length shot to show you. My ends have now reached the most protruding part of my backside, so you have to take my word for it while you look at the most recent pictures. These are about 2 weeks old.


The texture is from wearing it in a french twist for work. The colour is very accurate for how henna reacts to light:

And that's it! In these years, I have only done one trim (2010) and I don't expect to trim again until another 4 years has past. Next stop on my journey will be classic which may or may not be the end of the lenght journey.

I've always admired your henna color most of all here on LHC. I could never achieve that beautiful true blood red with henna after 1.5 years, so I've been happier with my henna-indigo black. (I think it may be due to the fact that my natural color is a medium brown, and yours is probably much lighter.) However if I could ever achieve your color I would be happy to stick to it forever!

I'm not that light, but my natural hair colour is very see-through. I'm guessing that is why I can get a "true" red (although inside and under some sort of light, it is more a merlot-colour.)
