You don't NEED to trim your hair.

I've never trimmed my hair myself, so I'm not a good one to give you advice.

I'm very lucky to have found a hair stylist who has long hair herself. She does a very good job trimming my hair and never trims too much.

I got my thick hemline by having a hair stylist trim it regularly.

If you're determined to trim your own, why don't you start small. Just take off a little bit first. You can always take off more, but you can never put it back!

I wish I could send my hair stylist to you! She does such a good job.

I agree with jane53 - start small.
Have you ever trimmed your own hair?
I've done it and it's kind of hard, but gets better with practice.

Maybe cut only 1/2 the amount you need to cut.
I looked at your pic and what I would probably try out is to use a scrunchy or barette and slide it down until only the center layer is hanging out and trim about 1/2 an inch off of that.
Then comb it out and see how it looks.

Like jane53 said - you can always cut more but you can't put it back.
Good luck with your trim. :flower:

yes, just do a small trim. under 1/2 inch. if you want to trim more, you can always go back.

sometimes only a small amount needs to be trimmed to make it look better.

I agree with all the other posters. Just take a very little bit off if you really feel you have to.

I've had so many bad trims in the past that I decided I'm not getting any trims for a long, long while.

Good luck to you. :) Let us know how it goes.

Do what you think is best, but it doesn't look like you really need a trim :flower:
Your hair really is quite beautiful!

all lady's thank you soooo much for the an advice. I just got home and to the end I did trim about 1 1/2.

the hair salon I never been before.
first the hair stylist cut about 1/2 and show me how it looks like. but it looks nothing changed at all.
then he cut 1/2 again . even he showed me the hair which he cut and showed me.
still no any change.so I asked him to cut 1/2 more.
now my hem line looks much more thicker!!!!
I am soooooooo happy with the result.I add the pic to my alubum.

It's really great hearing that you like your cut! That's the most important thing after all. Happy hair makes for a happier person. :D

Gumball. thank you so much your post.
I feel much better now. and the hair stylist was so nice.
I told him that I don't want to cut my hair more than 1inch
but I want to thick hem line.
first he told me that 1/2 cut dosen't show the change my hem line and I still have very thin end. but anyway he cut 1/2 and show me how looks like.

yes, he was right. it didn't change the hem at all.
then he did cut 1/2 more and showed me again how it's looks.

to me still very thin and uneven.
so I asked him to cut 1/2 more.

thanks again your post.

it looks good. it does look thicker at the ends.

I wish I has some suggestions to help keep it thicker as it grows out, but I'm sure other member have ideas on how to maintain it and grow it long.

Your trim has made a difference and it looks lovely. It's amazing what a little trim can do to the overall look of the hair. I found this too when I has my last trim. I'm also amazed at how quickly the need to trim again comes around as mine has started to look uneven again 3 months after my trim.

If you ever want to try trimming on your own, try Feye's Self Trim Method. I did it to my own hair (the shallow U hemline instructions), and it was SOOOO easy! I really don't know how anyone could mess it up unless they really tried to.

Mine came out beautifully! No uneven pieces! I only took off 1/2'' from the longest side ends (I was growing out an A-line bob), and almost none from the back, so now I just have a nice, even hemline for FREE!!!

I will totally be using this method for myself for a loooooong time!

This might be a stupid question, and sorry for a hijack.. Does it make a difference whether it is in the evening, or during the day? :cheese: I went ahead and dusted my ends about half an hour ago LOL

urara12, your hair is beautiful, the trim really made a difference, I am glad you found a stylist who was not scissor happy and wanted to cut too much right away. :)

You're lucky to have a good hair stylist. I have had a lot of stylists who ruin my hair (like Number 2 - artists who do whatever they want). I hate that. I like it when they do what I ask.
Your hair looks so great. I wish I had hair like yours. :cheese:
