Hi everyone! I wonder if any of you have tried a bun which sort of resembles a treble clef? My two attempts you can see below, but it would be nice if someone has better suggestions to make it more... realistic? Perhaps twisting a ribbon in the hair, to make the contour more obvious?

So... here's the first try (clickable pictures)

And here the second one:

Another view of the same:

I can see it in the second picture. I love it! Congrats on somehow making the shape.
It took me ages to learn how to draw, let alone do it with my hair :D

They are brilliant, how on earth did you do them?

Oh definitely. I've only worn it a handful of times, since it takes me just a little more effort to get the shape down since I have to put more thought into it. :) It's circulated around here a few times before. Yours looks really great! I have a picture of one of my attempts (from a good while back) in one of my private albums. Laziness hasn't got around to getting a public one put up yet. Hehe.

ETA: I started with a cinnabun base, too, and when it wrapped around and then began to start the top portion, I looped it back around and then hid the rest of the length under the cinna-base. :D

My hair is BSL so I can only get to the top loop. I'm a flute teacher so this would be the perfect style for me. I'll have to grow it for a lot longer in order to get it to work. Yours looks great - thanks for the inspiration.

I'm glad you guys like it :flowers:

PurdyBear, I did it like Gumball describes: A cinnabun with the last portion of the hair looped above the bun, and the ends tucked in the bun. It does require hip+ length of hair, for ii/iii thickness.

How clever. I will have to try this when my hair is long enough :)

I also made a tutorial: Treble clef (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nop-I6Dftb4) Maybe this is helpful :)

Stupid not even BSL hair (too long to call APL but not yet BSL solidly darn that stupid trim, even if it DID make my ends nicer...) i can't even get to the second loop and the first bun falls too easily...darn my thick hair...wonder how long it will take till i can do this...someone mentioned us thicker haireds have to wait till hip! I can't wait that long....anyone know a short hair variation?

When I first responded to this post I had only BSL hair and it just wasn't long enough. I am now grazing hip and I can make the bun but it's not obviously a treble clef as it's my tippy ends that are making the top part so it's rather small.

This bun has altered my goal length. I want enough length to be able to make this bun easily and convincingly which is another couple of inches. Being a music teacher it is just so very perfect and honestly I think it's subtle enough that if you didn't point it out, most people wouldn't notice.

I am so thrilled the thread popped up again as I'd quite forgotten about it.

I can't WAIT until my hair is long enough for one of these. I've had my eye on it for a while :D

Pretty ! I have to try it. :) I'm from a family of musician, so it should be quite a success... ;)

Darn! I need another 10-15cm of length to make this work properly. Maybe it'll get there in time for the the folk music festival season?

That is beautiful! I've been mulling over changing my goal from waist (which I have had before and adored even in its terrible condition) to hip. This doesn't help the first option! :p

I saw this thread the other day so I thought I'd give it a try. I just got in to doing buns and using hair sticks. Here's my attempt:

And for all of us whose hair is to short - we're left with doing a french twist and pretenging it's a base clef ;)

I could never get it right as just one treble clef (dare I say I have too much hair?) but doubled up it went down very well at choir...

I just tried this with my BSL+ hair and got a very small version, but I can't use a stick to keep it up. I have to hold it with bobby pins.
