View Full Version : Going pink again.... sort of.

Last year I had my hair vivid pink, but I got rid of it due to being high maintenance, damaging (pre lightening) and not suitable for interviews for my nursing degree.
Well, I miss the pink, so does my boyfriend. So given I have 3 months left before I start my nursing degree I decided to go pink again. :D Though no pre lightening this time so it won't be so vibrant. And it's over henna.

I've gone for crazy colour pinkissimo, I used to cyclamen, but I thought it might be a tad too purple over henna orange = brown.
Here's how it turned out! (I accidentally dyed my eyebrows in the process, whoops!)
It seems to glow pink, red and orange depending on how the light hits it!

P.S. And I'm glad you had a chance to go back to your much-loved pink. It really suits you.

It came out really well!

And I like how your eyebrows came out as well. I think it's a nice soft color.

Gorgeous! Your hair looks so shiny, too!

I also like to use temporary (deposit-only) dyes over my henna to brighten the colour. I've got a tub of Rubine directions sitting at home, and your pictures have inspired me now! :D

That looks so great on you. I dont get why you can have pink hair and be a nurse. I think that if I were in the hospital pink hair would make me smile. Yours actually looks very natural. Perhaps you can just use a temp. on it for the interviews...:eyebrows:

Well the pink dye is completely non damaging, it's basically conditioner and lots of pigment meaning stains everything it touches. It's just the pre lightening to make it really vivid that's damaging, but I'm not doing that part and it still looks good, just more subtle. :D

It looks great!

I don't know. I worked in a nursing home, and a lot of nurses had unnaturally colored hair. Granted, a lot of them were weaves, but still!

Very pretty! Since you were your original pink, I have always thought you were someone that can pull this off and look like it is natural- pink hair really suits you!

It's gorgeous! Funny enough, I had to get rid of my pink for a nursing degree as well. I miss my brightly colored hair dearly :( Are you just starting an RN program for fall term?

yup pre lightening is what I meant, it would be super damaging with my hair since it's black but oh well maybe some day if I decide to cut my hair shorter

You definitely suit pink, whether your former pink shade or this one. You and pink were made for each other. :crush:

I might well be able to keep this colour or perhaps a slightly toned down version for my nursing as it's not too bright.
Basically the advice is keep to natural coloured hair as some trusts might be funny about hair colour and others may be more relaxed. It's best not to take the risk until I'm qualified and in a job where I know the policies on hair, as whilst I'm a student I'll be on placement at different hospitals with different policies.

Good color; I like it.

My pink is nearly gone, only a trace left in the very ends.

It looks awesome & suits you so well! With the way it goes with your complexion, it really does look like you just naturally grew pink hair. :)

This makes me wonder: just how would I make my nearly black hair pink? Light pink that is? Without damaging it. I'm now super curious!

I'm going to agree with everyone else that pink looks just gorgeous on you. It really does look like your natural color. So pretty!

June 11th, 2010, 04:06 PM
I looks so pretty and shiny! The color is perfect! And fading doesn't be a problem since you have the henna underneath so it's a win-win.

I have a few bottles of crazy color red, orande and cyclamen on my closet and I just might add a little extra red to my henna before summer festivals. Perhaps the red. Or everything on stripes.

Wow. Stunning!

You mentioned crazy colour "Pinkissimo" - I haven't seen that brand around. Is it in a tub or bottle, and how many did you have to use on your length?

So pretty! I have always loved pink hair. Alas, I have black hair so I'm assuming I would have to bleach the bejeezus out of it to get any pink to show up.

It comes in a little pink bottle. The brand is Crazy Colour it's made by Renbow. Pinkissimo is the shade. I've also used cyclamen in the past. They do lots of different colours.
I've got them off ebay in the past, but some Reef stores and alternative shops sell them too in the UK.

It's so beautiful! It makes me want to dye my hair a funky color, but I don't want to bleach it AGAIN. ='[ And the maintainable, and then me getting bored of the color, and then wanting to dye it my natural color and then it fading. Ugh, no fun. No fun at all!

June 16th, 2010, 07:33 PM
What beautiful hair! I think this is definitely a viable alternative for keeping it toned down, but not denying your true pink nature :)

The length is gorgeous, too. Overall, I adore your hair.

Quite iridescent and lovely. I've thought about going pink or red myself with no prelighting.
