Just wondering if there are any East Bay folks (California) out there who henna. Where do you get yours? I often wonder if I should skip the fancy-pants, expensive trip to Berkeley Bowl or Whole Foods and try out one in the plethora of Indian groceries. Any suggestions? :)

I'm in SF, but I get get my henna from hennaforhair.com. She says on her website that henna bought from Indian shops may not be stored at the right temperature to guarantee freshness or may just be old. I suppose you could ask about freshness at one of the many Indian stores on University Ave.

There is a place called bombay Spice House at 1036 University Avenue. I go there ALL of the time and they have Reshma Henna, Hesh Heenara Henna, Hesh Mehandi, and I think Nupur Henna. The best one to me is the Heenara or the Nupur. That place is like a haven!!! Check out the oil selection too.
