Waist length curly hair motivation pictures?

Technically, my hair is now at tailbone (37 inches) when wet, but of course the actual length varies wildly depending on how my curls are feeling on any given day.

My pic earlier in the thread was around 32 inches long, with 'normal' curl-shrinkage... and it looked between waist and hip... which is still longer than today's hair, which barely appears waist-length... :rolleyes:

So inspirational, there is nothing like long curly hair! My goal is WL, I'm just past SL now, but my hair has not grown more than an inch during an entire year (well it has been growing in the roots but not on the length, my ends are being eaten up by some mean monster :( ). Then, you read and read and read some more -- this site is a treasure trove of useful information! :D

For me personally, growing my hair longer involved not going to a salon for cuts/trims, not using shampoo, not using products with silicone ingredients, and not brushing thru my tangles (unless I used a Tangle Teezer brush).

For the past year or so, I've been maintaining my hair at about waist level (when curly -- butt crack level when stretched out) as I trim off my previously damaged hair. Eventually, when my hair is all "LHC-treated hair" I'm hoping to get it to about hip/tailbone when curly.

I self-trimmed yesterday, and that's the first thing I noticed - my hair was soaking wet, and yet my wavies were very pronounced - bouncy as they dried. And, I really didn't take off a lot for them to start doing that!!!

Right now, at shoulder length (barely, but I'm calling it!), I have some pretty wavy waves (like in my picture). When I was in my early teens, my hair was waist length and there was just a slight flip/wave at the ends. Then came the teenage years, and the shaving and the bleaching and the general abuse :rolleyes:

My hair now is about the longest it's been since then. Certainly it is the healthiest it's been. My hair is also a lot curlier and thinner then I remember it being, but I'm not sure how much of that change is due to actual changes in my hair vs my hair being shorter.

Guess I'll just wait and see how it grows out, but after this post I would *really* love to keep my waves. Maybe I can even teach them to be curls!

I found out about LHC from the NC forums, too.... and I haven't been back to NC since. The atmosphere here is just SO much more pleasant, inclusive, helpful, etc. It feels like more of a *community* here than it does over there, at least IMO.

I agree with the sentiment of NC. Definitely a resource to be explored, and I think it had a role to play in me finding LHC, but it's less community oriented and the threads are more... vapid, sometimes? I guess is the way to put it.

That day I Cowashed with Tresemme Naturals and detangled in the shower. I rinsed my scalp a bit, but left it in the ends. I scrunched out a little water carefully, then I pretty much avoided touching it while it air dried.

Thanks! I always have frizz but how much varies based on the day. I've heard good things about Tresemme Naturals -- think I'll check it out (and add yet another bottle of something to my bathroom :laugh:) It is so hard - almost impossible during the work week - to dry my hair without touching it; I'm sure that would help.

And I don't regret it :) I feel layers would be annoying plus with long hair as well. And a V couldn't suit curly hair. Plus with as much volume as me layers don't work good hehe

I just have a trim and my layers will be disappear soon I think in 8 months or 1 year:I maintain my lenght now.

Braid waves kind of smoothed out some of the curl I usually get, and I'm trying to grow out a couple of weird layers, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with how things are progressing.

I always feel like my ends look scraggly in photos, as well, but when I look up close or in the right light they look pretty healthy too me. So maybe it's just the camera and lighting :)

About those ends...they were really damaged and fairytailed even with a lot of trimming.With my growth rate I somehow manage to trim a lot and gain length ( not entirely sure how that is possible since I grow just a tad more than a cm a month,but I am terrrible at maths so maybe I grow more),and if that hemline + rough ends + splits was going to be the result,well no thanks. After I cut it the hemline was shockingly thick :lol: and still is two months later :lol: and two months is a lot for me to go without trims.Although I'm planning to suck it up and challenge myself to go longer.
