Styling tips for the "customer or two who won't permit her hair to be cut."

I know how many of us envy and want to recreate the styles of the past, but are often discouraged because our hair is *gasp* seemingly too long! ;)

Take a look at how these styles are done - (clickable pics)

The photos are really great and give me a little insight into the women of the past who didn't cut to fit into the styling trends. :) Long live long hairs!

"The editors of The American Hair Dresser do not endorse long hair...."

I find that so funny!

I have a vintage style I recreated in my album, it was difficult because of my amount of hair, but I managed and it was really fun :)

I like the section from the 60's. I have some new things to try.

I do tiny pin curls about once a week. They take a while to put in, but the curl they leave stays for days and looks so pretty.

Thank you!! I love vintage hair styles so much but they always seems to need short hair! I'm a happy clam now. :)

Ooh, that's fantastic! Thanks for the link--I love vintage-era styles, but since my hair's almost waist-length and REALLY thick, I was pretty daunted at the thought of trying pin curls or finger-waves.

Thank you for sharing :D
Those are some very beautiful styles :)

And that part made me LOL too :D
I guess long hair was so "out" then they had to put in that remark so that not to loose their reputation as a serious magazine in the eyes of the hairdressers and stylists... I find that hilarious :)

Always enjoy vintage articles about long hair care and styling, thanks alot! Although I certainly do not want to pretend my hair is shorter haha

Thanks for posting. I love looking at those styles on others but on my own head they would make me look like a fool, LOL.

Very nice! I can still set pincurls, but it's nice to see some options for when it is longer.
