I have about four inch long hair (growing out a pixie cut) and my boyfriend's sister's wedding is in a week. I am so excited to go, everything looks beautiful so far BUT MY POOR HAIR!! It looks like a little mushroom pouf, and I'm growing it out or I would just cut it to a nice pixie again.

I can find virtually no short hair styles for formal occasions, or even something to make this look less like a Pomeranian on my head!

Help?!

I would simply muss it up a bit with your choice of product (or anti-product) and wear a fascinator (http://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_query=hair+fascinator&search_type=handmade).

I definitely agree with the hair pieces..I used to wear flower hair clips pin-up style when my mushroom poof was growing out and they looked great..such as http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/71/5/AAAAAg4NDksAAAAAAHFXLQ.jpg

Now my hair has grown out to my shoulders and I still love them when I have to get dressed up. Never underestimate the power of a good hair accessory. Good luck with styling and I hope you have a great time :)

Is it long enough to try a vintage look? Maybe pincurls or finger waves would work for you :flower:

finger waves on the lovely Mae West - http://a6.vox.com/6a00cd96fc16084cd500f48ce5d2b60003-500pi

Pin curls are all over 'the net' but here's a blog with a girl who's got pretty short hair - http://mirkwoodcottage.typepad.com/prettyvintage/2009/05/perilous-pincurls.html#more

Those are fantastic! The pin curls especially. I don't think my hair is long enough just yet but I can't wait to try those out, thank you!

I used to like running gelled fingers through it going straight back when my hair was that length. Then I'd let it fall as it wanted while it dried.

Some little jeweled hair pins holding back a particularly stubborn falling-forward bit would be pretty, also the fascinator, as above.
