Mermaid Waves

First, sorry for the large size of the photos.

I had my hair in a French braid the last two days, but the whispy hairs just destroyed the look of it, so I had to take it down. However, I got a wonderful present for doing so... some very prominent waves. My hair is naturally wavy, but not to this extent!

Looks gorgeous! Did you have your hair in two braids or just the one? I would love to try this look but when I do just the one french braid down the back I get virtually no waves other than what I already have because my braid is so thick.

This braid formed as soon as I got out of the shower. I cannot French braid for my life, but my mother is, as Yellowchariot described, a jedi knight when it comes to French braids. She did the braid you can see on the May Hairstyle of the Month thread. From there I let it sit in my hair for about two days, and it took that length of time to dry! Then I just unbraided, combed very lightly to get the hair to sit together (but you can skip that and leave it as is, which I might do next time) then I added the oil to define the waves and give it that shine. :)

I was inspired by your waves and tried this, but mine looks weird at the very bottom were I used an elastic to hold the braid. But the length looks pretty, thanks for posting such beautiful pics !

And one more bit of good news: I think my shedding has started to curb! After having my hair in the braid for two days and then washing it later that night, I only lost about 1/3 of the hair I would lose in a day just a week earlier! :cheer:

Well, IMO you look like it too - your hair is almost identical to the color and shine of gold, and that much gold would be EXPENSIVE. :D
