Sorry Mods I wasnt sure where to put this one!

Im interested to find some stones I can carry, or put on a photograph that helps hair regrowth.

Iv looked on one website and it says Amethyst is good for hair, but would something like bloodstone be as good?

Has anyone else used these methods? Iv used it for other things but never my hair.

Iv looked in some of the books I have but they really dont mention it.

I'v used metaphysical stones in other ways, but never for my hair, I'll have to try that out! But I found a couple websites that both say to use Lapis Lazuli, Agate, Aventurine, Onyx and Obsidian for hair problems. Maybe you could make a wire wrapped necklace out of these stones to wear everyday to benefit from their effects, I've personally found that's one of the most effective ways; being that it can directly influence your aura when it's on your person rather than placed on a photograph. Several years ago I was very interested in stones and the legends and lore of their metaphysical properties. I spent a lot of time researching it and created a list of healing properties associated with various stones. Here's what I had listed:

hair loss: aragonite, chalcopyrite, franklinite, galena

hair problems: agate, aventurine, lapis, onyx, obsidian

skin, nails, hair: black onyx, amber, rhodochrosite, green aventurine, rose quartz, amethyst, watermelon tourmaline, lapis, diamond

I suggest searching on ebay for the particular stones, and seeing what you like and what fits your budget. You can buy many of the stones set in a silver pendant rather inexpensively. See which ones "draw" you them (you'll think -- "oh! I like that!") and wear it against your skin. Take a bit of time to shop, though, because there will be many, many items to choose from. Using some of the stones above as a starting point, you can also do a google search of a stone name + metaphysical and you will most likely find lots of info to read.

Here's one example from ebay:

What a cool thread! I love gemstones and have a nice collection of them. A friend got me interested in them back in high school. This morning I bought a beautiful Aventurine pendant on Etsy: Green Aventurine Crystal Donut Pendant and Necklace (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=29234048)

I'll have to check when I get home but I'm sure (the ever awesome) Hildegard of Bingen has suggestions in one of her books. :)

Interesting thread! I never thought of using crystals for healthy hair...

The ones that come to mind are violet or clear stones, aligned with the crown chakra. Hair is our crowning glory, wouldn't you say? So amethyst, fluorite, iolite or clear quartz/herkimer diamond.

Also, grounding stones like smoky quartz, obsidian, haematite (additionally, promotes the balance of iron in the body, which is very important for hair growth).

For some reason, I feel that moss agate can be helpful.

In addition to wearing crystal pendants and rings, how about crystal head-dresses and bun cages? :D

I've read good things about green aventurine. This is an interesting list. I'll have to buy me some of these stones. :p

According to my source the only crystal specifically for growing hair is Unakite. Others that have already been mentioned plus magnetite and Moldavite are good for hair health.

Or stones on barrettes, or topping hair sticks? I searched high and low for nice barrettes with natural stones on them, they're not easy to find. I do have a few nice Native American ones and also some with amber.

I did a bit on tumbled stones and healing some years back, cant remember half of it though, so thanks for everyones suggestions.

Iv got a far bit of tumbled stone jewelry, and luckily I have amethyst, rose quartz and some haematite braclets. Iv got the first two on my right wrist (right is incoming, left is outgoing), so I will let you know. Iv also put some rose quartz with the 6 inch chunck of amethyst I have on three photos of myself.

NB The Science bit: Apparently when you wear it against your skin, the stone heats up and realises its goodies into the skin, and thus healing you. Wether that is how it works I dont know, its probably more likely to be realigning the energy lines into the chakras and also the auric field.

Well, Hildegard actually never wrote about stones having beneficial properties regarding hair growth. Lots of plants though. I'll have to post about her bear fat conditioning treatment sometime. :p

In Cunningham's 'Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic' he suggests purple stones for hair health. Nothing more specific.

I've been wanting to get into some jewelry making for myself, and WOW, because of this thread I just checked out some of the stones for sale and Ebay and there is quite a beautiful selection at some great prices!

I just bought two heart unakite pendants and a string of unakite beads (beautiful!) for $6 (for both, with shipping!).

What an interesting thread!
This reminds me to tend to my little collection of tumble stones I have picked up over the years in places special to me. Unfortunately they have been locked in a jar for a while ....
Now I long to feel some of them again.
I think there may be a rose quartz in there .. hmm.

Will continue to keep an eye on this thread!

Can you recommend a book or website with tutorials on basic jewelry making to get me started?? :D

Or stones on barrettes, or topping hair sticks?

Thanks for reminding me I actually have an amethyst-topped hair stick! Oh, and haematite and moonstone too - they are all from VK designs. I'm sure there are some more upmarket ones available, Quattro comes to mind... But I don't think he does barrettes (or at least I've never seen any by him).

I haven't worn these sticks for a while (at least a year, if not more), as I'm using hair forks 99.99% of the time (find them more secure). But for promoting hair health, well, if nothing else I can wear them at home! :D

Great idea for a thread! I have been studying crystal energies and their properties for going on 10 years now, so I have quite a bit of knowledge on this subject.
The one stone I can reccomend above all for your use, purdy bear, is Moonstone. This is the one stone that specifially alleviates degenerative conditions of the hair, skin and eyes. It is also the most beneficial stone to women and their energy.

I would recommend making a gem elixir from it, and applying directly to the scalp. The best method for making an elixir is to place a cleansed, and charged, stone into a glass bowl with about 1 cup of spring water. Place the bowl in the sunlight for twleve hours, then remove the stone, and add 1 cup of vodka or other strong sprit alcohol to the gem water to preserve this elixir if it is to be used for more than 1 week(you will have enough here to last you for quite some time, so I recommend doing this step). Put this elixir into a brown glass bottle.

This method creates a highly concentrated gem elixir, and it is to be treated like essential oils, in that you must dilute it before use. For a scalp treatment I would add 7 drops to about 2 tbsp of water or other scalp treatment then apply directly to scalp and leave there.

Another idea which would be good for you is to add Rhodonite with the Moonstone when making the elixir, as it is specifically used for auto-immune disease. I think this would provide a double whammy.

Other stones that are benefial to hair growth, or health, are Zincite, Unakite, Muscovite(mica), and Magnetite. Note that none of these stones are suitable for making a direct gem elixir as adding them to water will damage the stone. For any of these an indirect method would have to be used, where the stone is placed in a glass jar or bowl that is then placed in the bowl of water and left in the sun.

Hope this "book" I've written is helpful..lol. For those of you hoping to get length in already healthy hair, I think a Unakite elixir would be good.

Thanks Calaelen. Iv saved this bit to my pc so I can study it further.

Iv got a Unakite stone bracelet from Ebay and a very good price.

I also agree Tumble stones are extremely addictive, but dont put them on shelves above your bed, one decided to land on me during the night once, a huge chunk of something painful.

Iv got about three crates (yep I said crates) in my bedroom cupboard and now Iv got to go rummaging to find them all. LOL! Im sure I have moonstone somewhere in there.

How exactly do stones encourage hair to grow healthier? I've never heard of this. Sounds interesting :) For thousands of years it has been believed by many that gemstones and mineral rocks have an energy field, and that the energy in them work with human energy fields (chakras). People who believe this have used rocks and gems for many things from healing, to childbirth, to attracting wealth or love , to healing emotional disorders, to promoting healthy plants, giving protection, and so forth.

One of the things that the rocks we are discussing here do are to improve the health or growth rate of hair.

There is so much to study and learn in this field, and pretty much every gem you can imagine is attributed with many healing, and life changing energies.

I myself became a believer after a guidance counselor handed me a stone one day as I was having a mini freak out at school. Within about 5 minutes I was calmed down to the point of feeling drugged. I had no previous knowledge of this stone, or of stone energies. I asked him about it, and he explained that it was an extraterrestrial rock called Moldavite, which has calming and sedating energies. From that day forward I was hooked and have eaten up all the knowledge on this subject that I can.

I use rocks everyday in my life to assist me with the things I am wanting, and I haven't had one shred of doubt yet, as they always assist me.

I have a Rose quartz palm stone. It hasn't made my hair grown longer or thicker, but it is cool and comforting when I press it against my warm scalp.:)

I have picked up my how-to's just really haphazard so I really don't have any suggestions. Sorry about that. Most of what I have done is set a faceted or cabochon stone in a traditional prong setting or string beads. I have way more stones than I will ever set and there are a couple of things I'll need professionals to do (I have a collection of 2 champagne and 1 green pear diamond plus a couple of small round yellow that I want to use to create a pendant that looks like a vine. With the price of gold and being unemployed that is on hold)

I was actually going to mention that. And I'm glad I found this thread! Now I don't feel awkward talking about stones for hair growth. My hair grew crazy from an adventurine and amnethist pendant I used to wear. But I wore it so much that the energy just wasn't as effective as it used to be. I saged it but it just doesn't give that nice cool rush it did the first time I put it on. I wore it before I ever chopped my hair off. I need to have a connection with my stones in order for them to work. I can also stone wrap. When I get home I will probably make my own Unakite pendant with clear quarts to amplify it when I get home from college. I have a beautiful moonstone pendant at home that I need to find. I forgot if it's good for hair.

Larimar is also a good stone.

This site is useful:

I met the woman who started this site and she was very helpful.

The site says:

HAIR:

malachite, opal, quartz

HAIR GROWTH:

larimar, unakite

HAIR LOSS:

aventurine

I always liked unakite because it kind of looks like Keanu backwards...if it has hair benefits too I might just get something with it on.

What would be most effective; the stone being close to the hair like a topped stick, or the stone being on the skin like a pendant?

Fun! :D

From Judy Hall, _The Crystal Bible: A Definitive Guide to Crystals_ :
snippets from -
Magnetite - stimulates circulatory system for skin and hair (pg. 181) - placement, nape of neck
Moonstone - alleviates degenerative conditions of skin and hair (pg. 191) - placement, on appropriat body part; enhanced at full moon
Unakite - aids growth of skin and hair (pg. 311) - placement,on appropriate body part, or use as elixir
Zincite - improves thickness and growth of hair (pg. 321) - placement, on appropriate body part

I'll definitely wear moonstone when I do my trim on Full Moon in Leo!! :)

I'm curious what does it mean when you say a "cleansed and charged" stone?

I find it interesting that I've always been very drawn to moonstones (and garnets, but I don't know if those do anything), like a magnet practically, but I've never looked into stone therapy before. I've sort of thought (and I really don't mean any offense by this:flower:) that stone therapy must be a bunch hooey. I should know better than to write something off like that without studying it first, I'm very into herbal healing, and though there are those that think it's hooey I know from studying and use that it isn't.:)

I'm curious what does it mean when you say a "cleansed and charged" stone?
LOL! see, I am SO used to working with crystals that it didn't even occur to me to explain. Well, if you subscribe to the belief system that rocks have healing properties, and energy, you also know that many of them absorb energy.

Cleansing a rock restores it to it's natural state of energy and it is largely a ritual process. You can cleanse rocks by one of three methods, by soaking them in water with sea salt, by holding them under running water, or by placing them on top of a cleansing stone. Carnelian is the one that jumps to my mind, and which I use myself for this method. Carnelian never needs to be cleansed and it cleans other stones.

Now for charging you can do this by sunlight, by moonlight, or by visualizing a light around your stone(much more difficult). You just leave you stone in the window, or somewhere the rays will touch it for a period of at least 12 hours. You can further the charging by holding the stone and thinking of the purpose for which you want to use it before wearing it or putting it to another use.

Also, there are much more involved ways of programming stones specifically for your own use, or for a specific purpose, but I do not want to overcrowd the thread with info no one wants, so if anyone is interested, let me know! This is a subject I LOVE talking about :D.

ETA: many types of rocks are not compatible with water or with direct light and these will damage the stones, the methods I explained are best used with tumbled rocks as the OP mentioned.

Another way to cleanse crystals that cannot be immersed is to hold it between your hands until it warms, then breathe directly on it. Not like a blow but more like an exhale.

One more I just remembered: you can pass it through the smoke from a sage bundle. I have heard both 3 passes and 7 passes.

ETA: I always charge my moonstones by placing them in a dish of rainwater on the night of the full moon. I place it outside even if there is cloud cover since the energy is still there.

In my experience, charms work best when carried against your skin. I've never tried carrying one in my bag except for grounding and that only worked when I would reach inside and touch. Make instead of making a charm for your bag you could make one for your hair.

ETA: You could make a spaced out string of stones and braid them into your hair, for instance. As in string, knot, stone, knot, string, ad finis.

GREAT NEWS. I'm home finally and I went to my favorite store. It's called Success Express and it's a spiritual shop. I ordered the first custom made stone cluster necklace. Normally, I wrap my own stones, but my stepmom moved EVERYTHING around in my room and I remember I was out of wire and what not anyway before I left for college. This is just easier, but I did charge the stones with my energy first. This piece will have Unakite, amazonite, water termoline, clear quarts, onyx, rose quarts, and amethyst. What do you guys think of the combo? The energy just felt right.

Hmm i know there are crystals that can help that and trust me, it works XD
Black tourmaline is AMAZING for immunity XD Just ugh. i didnt know! It went to play in the park for a while and after two days i saw i felt so weak, tired, and sick! I went to check the park and i found it! I did not even realize XD
I guess they can help with ur body as well with all that physical stuff ;D XD
Fun stuff!
I have calcites but im unsure which ones to use. I can ask my crystal therapist XD she knows a lot about crystals.

I can only think of maybe something that brings in certain things to help hair grow but i can't tell...usually these crystals speak to me XD Maybe something that helps with blood circulation. That should help a little bit. I already have on 8 crystals, my hair does look nice, but not exactly what i want.

Honestly Aragonite spoke to me the other day when i left my tablet of crystals to charge in the sun, i have never used them before nad the names are in spanish so i had no idea what it really was XD
I asked, which ones are best for me...and the aragonite lit up for me and it basically, pick me! I'll help you!

And i was like, ok! Cool!
Turns out it's a crystal that helps with insomnia, it's grounding, and it helps with hair growth as it says on this hair thread :P I've had insomnia for months now, my therapist says i need to come back down to earth, and i also have been having a lot of hair loss XD
