Hi everyone! I am getting married this November, and as a long hair lover I decided I wanted my hair half up or totally down, or even in a nice low (hopefully long) pony. But definately not up.
Do any of you have wedding photos of your hairstyle for your own wedding? I would love to see them. I need all the ideas I can get. :D I'm so excited, and my fiance loves my hair down.

Ooooh I want to see too.
I really do not know what to do with my hair...
Can't let it loose because it will look silly if my hair is longer than my dress LOL

I wore my hair half up for our wedding last year :) I did heat style it though, curled it. I really liked it, and so did hubby. I don't think it did too much damage and I babied it afterwards and it was okay.

Pics on my profile and in my album.

Here's mine. Down, but with side pieces rolled and pinned back, curly with fake flowers twisted into the length.

Pretty XcaliburGirl. Mine was just down, not quite shoulder length, curled with hot rollers, but it didn't hold the curl very well. It was just kind of curvy. I had no veil or flowers.

XcaliburGirl that is GORGEOUS! Love it!

Thanks! :D

The only problem was it was a pain (literally) to untangle my hair from the wire on the flowers. Luckily, a friend was staying in the same hotel that night, since my husband couldn't figure it out.

I'd try out some non-heat overnight curlers, maybe set with a little hairspray or gel? I think it always looks nice to have soft curls, but the grass is always greener (I have straight hair).

Maybe with a nice tiara or headband (one with pearls or sparklies to taste?)!

My hair doesn't count, because at the time of my wedding (almost 9 years ago!) it was flip length.

I think it really depends on what your dress looks like. If it has lots of detailing in the back, I'd wear it up. But if you decide to wear it loose, I'd go for waves/curls. I get awesome waves from sock curls!

Xcaliburgirl, your hair was GORGEOUS! :thud:

Xcaliburgirl - that truly is stunning. Do you mind if I borrow the image to put in my "hair ideas" section of my wedding binder? I'm getting married in October and what I told my mom is "I want my hair loosely curled, down, with flowers twisted in". Yours is the first picture that I've seen that actually is exactly what I want!

I've been vacillating between hair up or down. I really want to wear it down, but sometimes I have trouble keeping it from getting flat on top throughout the day. I don't look great with half-ups, so that's out. If I wore it up, it would look something like this:

http://www.zimbio.com/Prom+Updo+Hairstyles/articles/10/Amanda+Seyfried+s+Updo

If it was down, I would either wear it like Xcaliburgirl's or in loose curls, with one side pinned up over my ear with a pretty clip.

maskedrose, your sig pic is BEAUTIFUL!!! It's going to look so nice with flowers woven in! What kind of flowers are you thinking of? I was imagining tiny daisies...

I think anything you pick will look beautiful! I'm a big fan of enhancing what you have (natural texture/color) rather than going completely opposite of what your normal hair would be like.

Sure, go ahead.

Oh, and I want to mention that I got a lot of great wedding ideas at IndieBride.com's forum. One girl had ribbons hanging from her half-up that were sprinkled with flowers, that's actually what gave me the idea for mine.

I love the half-up, and yours looks pretty natural which is nice because you have some wave. I'm debating exaggerating my waves with heat.

As a 3b/3c curlie, I'd have to agree with the whole "grass is always greener" bit. Y'all have no idea how much I've always envied girls with "Marcia/Jan Brady hair"!

What I did for my wedding was a half up with the top half French-braided, with baby's breath placed strategically placed in the braid. This gave me the elegance of the up part, with the naturalness of the bountiful curls (most people don't recognize me with my hair up and/or braided, because my BIG HUGE HAIR is something they just always associate with "GRU").

XcaliburGirl WOW so pretty!!!
I want to do something like that, as we have kind of an eco theme going on.
But if I wear my hair down it is longer than my dress, won't that look stupid??

Hmmm, so hard to decide what to do, maybe front strands loose and curled....+ a side dutchbraid into a bun with added flowers??
AArrghhh I need more inspiration :o

I just did a request in the last week or so for a bride who wanted a half-up style for her wedding. (Good to know I'm not the only one with Marcia-Envy!)

One thing that I'd keep in mind is whether you want to look like *you* on your wedding day, or if you want to look totally special because the day is totally special. I've seen people's wedding pictures where I never would have recognized that it was them, because they changed their hair SO drastically for their big day: Marcia Brady types with spiral curls all over, or curlies with Marcia-hair, etc.

If they were happy with that, it was no skin off my nose -- it's their wedding, ya know? But it just wasn't what I wanted for myself. That's why I went with the half-up, so I still looked like me but I also looked spiffied-up. When my son looks at my wedding pictures, he's going to recognize that it's Mommy standing there, not some stranger in a funky hairdo.

Do you know anybody who is a hair stylist or just really good at doing hair? I have a friend who did mine for free as a gift.

Ditto -- I can't braid my own hair to save my life (the curls are just too much to cope with behind my back and with only two hands), and a friend did mine for my wedding day.

Then a couple years later when I was going into the hospital to deliver my son, I stopped at her house on the way to have her braid the whole thing for me so I didn't have to deal with it the entire time I was in the hospital. My hair gets horribly tangled and matted in bed, and having the flat braid was the most comfortable way for me to lay in bed.

It's a neat bond that we have, with her connection to my wedding and also my son's birth. :)

That's gorgeous and certainly not for naught! I'm kind of wondering how you made those pins. Didn't you mention in the tut that you made them? They're just awesome in that do! The contrast between the hair that's down and the style is also amazing! Love it... and it'll probably work on shorter lengths too. Woohooo! Yippee! :D  You could even curl the loose hair to make longer hair seem a little shorter or to make the look more romantic, I mean not that it isn't that already. :)

Thank you! The pins were the easiest thing to make. The beadlie-bobs are just those that you find in the wedding section at craft stores (I used them for the corsages and boutineers in my brother's wedding...I did all of his flowers). I just wound the wire around the U of a U shaped pin and voila! Easy peasy and not very expensive. I concur about the curls, I think they would be beautiful. What I was trying to come up with was a summer style that would hold up to heat and humidity. Personally, I'd go for a full up-do because then I wouldn't have to worry about how my hair looked. I can get my hair to hold curl with soft rollers, but if it's really hot and humid, they're gonna fall out and then you've got a stringy mess (okay, I have a stringy mess, but I figure I'm probably not the only one. ) This way, I figured it was fancy enough up top that you could leave the length in its natural state and it would still look good. I think it would look best on those gals who have natural waves or curls...then you get the full-on romantic look. However, I think it's still a cute look for the gals with poker straight hair. At least that's what I was going for. :)

The hair I`ve always wanted for my wedding is something I saw when I was 16 in a highschool cosmetology class. I think they called it a twisted braid, it started at the crown on the left side with a twist that angled down to the right side the added hair twisted again and so on...it looked like angled figure 8s down to the nape, then ended in a side pony with curled ends. I want it with a nice clip and some flowers in the twists.

I`m going to bug my friend to let me play with her hair, I`ll try to do it again and take some pics.

I literally got married two weeks ago, so I really have no pictures to show (yet), but my hairdresser really did a nice job. DH loves my hair down, so I wanted to keep it down, but still have it completely out of my face for the day. So she pulled sections of the front back into those teeny-tiny jawclips until it was all pulled back (I think she used 9 clips), then reinforced behind the clips with bobby pins, and curled it. No flowers, but I wore a veil on a comb.

I love this thread!

Just got married on the 17th and in all the rush I can't believe I forgot to take a pic of my hair on the big day!!

I have some shots of the back of my head at the church, but I had my veil on, so its hard to see - but I'm gonna post them. I asked my photographer if there are any random shots of the back of my head without the veil and he's looking for me :) If he finds one, I'll come back and post it :)

I just pulled the top/front of my hair back into a pony holder, then folded it upward and clipped it with a barette to give it that "flipped pony" look. My veil was on a comb, so I stuck the comb down into the secured part of my half-up. Then I used a bunch of sprigs of babys breath and stuck them into my hair just above the comb so my front veil would lay over top of them until it was removed... My hair had (very soft) curls at the ends which I had set on 3 big rollers overnight and took out just moments before the ceremony.

We did indeed have a steampunk wedding. The original plan was to exchange vows on a zeppelin, but weather intervened. We both wore goggles and had gear accessories, the cake was a top hat, and we encouraged our guests to dress up! It was amazing!

I can't find very many good pictures of my hair that day, because there was too much veil in the way to see my bun. Here are a couple of side shots that sort of show it off -- you can at least see the waves in the length and my Grahtoe fork holding up the veil at the top. Under the veil, my hair is in a half-up equilibrium bun.

I love your length showing! :)

Did you have a steampunk-themed wedding? That's just so awesome I can't put it into proper words. :bowtome:

No ideas I'm afraid x0h_bother, but congratulations! :flower:
Thanks pepperminttea!

I got married 2years ago and these are the best photos I can find of my hair.

Basically they are just pin curls with some flowers attached to the booby pins.
